Personally, I'm still a bit torn. A French team is always an option, trying to win the Tour with a French rider. We've been missing a top level Italian team for a while now, which could also be interesting, trying to bring one back. Generally, with the new more targeted scouting system, an Asian or African team could be an option as well. I'll have some time to decide though, as DB work of course takes precedent - we'll see if I get around to a career this time around
I won't be starting a career until the workshop is up. I am too used to using a proper DB, sponsor pack etc. Just can't play it until these things are available.
Like yourself when I do I will probably start at the bottom with a french team of regens. I do like to get that overdue French win of the tour if I can. As someone who prefers to start with regens it just got harder as there are no 18 year olds to pick from and the 19+ selection looked bad when I tested it. That may have been bad luck of course. A proper DB might improve that.
I dabble in programming and have messed around with the database on occasion. Looking behind the scenes I can see not a lot has changed except potential is genuinely gone replaced by a new potential column with a different name. This column is between 1 and 6 (as can be seen visually in game) including halves so 12 possible values instead of the old 8. My code to extract the DB and display riders didn't raise any errors so some of the existing editors may work but if they expect that old potential column name without failing gracefully then they won't.
So I decided to give the new scouting system a try and startet a career with an Estonian Team at the very bottom.
My goal is to make Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania big in cycling and I progressed relatively well. The popularity in all 3 is now up to 7 and also the training structures got 1 additional point in a few countries.
I am quite lucky to have a world class sprinter Markus Pajur which is really strong on cobbles (80) and for a sprinter good on hills as well (72). This guy already won MSR, RVV, Rubaix and LBL. For him the goal is to somehow win il Lobardia as well to have won all 5 Monuments.
After 5 participations at the TdF he accumulated already 23 Stage victories, so I probably also try to break that records which stands at 34.
For GC in grand tours I just found a talented rider with 5* at TT and 5,5* and Mountain, so I hope he can compete in the Grand Tours to increas the popularity in the baltics a little more

I am currently doing a career with Groupama-FDJ, my first proper career since getting the new version of the game. I've just finished my first season and it went much better than expected, helped by the fact that some of my riders have massively improved during the season.
First of all, Madouas has become a beast, with 80 in MON, 81 in HIL and 79 in COB on top of some very good physical stats: 78 in STA, 82 in RES and 78 in REC. He finished 1st in the WT rankings after a string of great results at WT level:
Top 5 in the Santos Tour Down Under, Tirreno-Adriatico and the Benelux Tour, he also Top 10’s the Criterium du Dauphine. In one day races, he has the following results:
7th at Omloop het Nieuwsblad
4th at Strade Bianche
5th at E3 BinckBank Tour
6th at Dwars door Vlaanderen
6th at Paris-Roubaix
8th at Amstel Gold Race
2nd at Fleche Wallonne
6th at Klasikoa Donostia San Sebastian
2nd at GP de Quebec
5th at GP de Montreal
7th at the World Championships
4th at Lombardia
But his crowning moment came from winning the Tour de France. Yes, Madouas won the Tour de France!!! He won ahead of G. Thomas and Roglic. He won the Tour thanks to the cobblestone stage which was absolute carnage. He finished in the front group, while almost all the other favourites lost 10 minutes or more in a miserable, rainy day, reminiscent of the 2021 Paris-Roubaix. In that stage, Gaudu and Vingegaard fell and had to abandon while Roglic, Carapaz, M.A. Lopez and S. Yates also fell and/or lost an incredible amount of time. Thomas was the only one who came close to Madouas, but still finished almost 5mns back but never really recovered during the rest of the race, being up and down. With Pogacar racing the Giro and the Vuelta, Madouas had a very comfortable mattress to protect and by losing 10’’ here and 30’’ there in the mountain stages, he managed to finally end 37 years of hurt and be the first Frenchman to win the Tour since 1985. He won 6 races in total in 2022, maybe not much looking back, but he won the most important one.
Kung has also become kind of a second Kasper Asgreen, with a slightly better TT. He also had a great 2022 winning Dwars door Vlaanderen, his first major cobbled classics, finished on the podium of the EC ITT (3rd) and WC ITT (2nd) while also finishing 8th in the WC RR. He finished 5th at Ronde van Vlaanderen, Strade Bianche and Bretagne Classic while having Top 10’s at E3 and Gent-Wevelgem. He won 5 races in 2022, 4 in the WT and the Swiss NC ITT title.
Geniets has also become a very good puncher going up to 79 in HIL, backing it up with some pretty decent physical stats: 75 in STA, 78 in RES and 74 in REC. His highlight was winning Omloop het Nieuwsblad and GP de Montreal while finishing 6th at Strade Bianche, 4th at GP de Quebec and 2nd on GC at the Benelux Tour. He also won the NC Luxembourg RR.
Gaudu was also on fine form. He won the Volta a Catalunya and the Criterium du Dauphine, while finishing in the Top 10 of all three Flemish classics and in the UAE Tour. He was the most prolific winner for the team, winning 14 races, 8 of them being at WT level.
Finally, the second most prolific winner for the team was Demare, winning 13 races, 7 of them at WT level. He won Eschborn-Frankfurt and BREMER Classic, but he found his 2020 Giro form again by winning 4 stages in Italy and taking the ciclamino jersey.
For 2022, like in real life, I’ve gone to my amazing development team to sign Gregoire, Martinez, Penhoet, Pithie, Thompson, Pickering, Germani and Le Huitouze.
Gregoire, Martinez, Penhoet and Pithie are earmarked for the top of the sport (you can see their stats below at the beginning of the 2023 season), while the others have the potential to be very good riders. In terms of other transfers, I'm going to try and keep it as realistic as possible (so no crazy PCM transfers for me!!): Cattaneo comes in to help in the mountains, while Louvel also joins the team and adds some domestique power in the classics, both Flemish and Flanders.
Reichenbach, Sinkeldam, Guarnieri, Davy, Duchesne, Konovalovas and Van den Berg are the riders who leave the team to make way to that new generation, so big changes in the squad.
In other transfer news, here are some of the major transfers per team with some legendary PCM transfers!!:

Has this ever happened to anyone? I loaded the race, went to get a drink and came back and the top 10 already had a couple of minutes lead after 10kms or so. I'd never seen that before so I let it play and that's what happened. No one chased. I thought I'd attack with Askey to see if anyone would follow and they didn't.
Yes, sometimes the AI goes wrong and never chase. The peloton rides at a low pace. This is a bug since PCM2013 I think. It appears rarely but the only thing to do is to restart the race if not ended.
Started a career with GO Roubaix and the target is to win PR with Stefano Museeuw and get wildcard to the tour within 3-5 seasons. I might've boosted Stefano a little. Just cannot stand that surname to be bad, haha
