I gotta give it to you. You are a master of picking up the best possible riders for the lowest possible wage. It's what we all want to do, but no one does it quite like you. Even having Teuns at 130K at one point aswell.
He's no Lutsenko of course, but I see him easily as a 500-800 point rider, which almost cuts the loss in half in just one rider - while dropping the wage by 4-5 times.

Tao is a great signing as others have said Sure I know of a punchy climber too like you said Isostar normally goes for
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Unfortunately, Teuns has travelled down to CT in the meantime
But echoing what everyone says, Tao is a great rider for the future, not looking forward to the trainings he'll get the next couple of years

I need to tell that starting from your CT promotion ill admire how you can approach the transfer season, minimizing the loss, maximizing the gain. Plain brilliant! |

I know, hence the "at one point" - It was merely a statement to underline just how impressive croatia is at actually lining those riders up

@Eden95: Sorry, but not sorry blame the horrible PT calendar for him for me going PTHC well Gazelle got 2 (future) stars for those, so did well imo. Not sure if one would want to train Tao away from his soft spot in terms of wage/reward, but his skillset might be too tempting not to
@AbhishekLFC: Absolutely. If not for that I wouldn't have taken this Lutsenko-offer, but Hart feels like the perfect fit at this point.
@redordead: Took a discount so that he can fit the Isostar-wagecap in a trade.
@SotD: You gotta do what you gotta do if the opposition is that amazing. With guys like cio, DD, knockout or you (and many more) around you gotta push yourself to the absolute best. I hope I got there with Tao.
Disagree on the replacement verdict a little though. Tao won't replace Lutsenkos points, more like Inkelaars points as his race calendar will be more like his. Lutsenko will have to be replaced somehow elsewhere. I think it was impossible to do so, but I gave it my best.
@jandal7: Yeah I'd never leave transfers without signing punchy climbers, you know me there
@Fabianski: Would've loved to keep him up in PT as my hill leader, but sadly I couldn't afford to as I was surprisingly successful at the FA market. Him and Roman were casualties I didn't wanna have, but at the end of the day you gotta move forward with what you can get, and instead it opened both me and Teuns (who will be awesome in CT) other interesting opportunities that might not be better, but surely intriguing.
@jaxika: Thank you for the very nice words! Always trying my best, not always working out but I enjoy when it does. You are doing a crazy job yourself though, especially in the last 2 years, gotta hand it to you there. |

The points comparison wasn't really meant as a matchup on racedays or rider type. More the estimated output vs. wage ratio
It's difficult to do a matchup with a hugely overperforming loaned in rider. That was absolutely a bonus, but I don't think it's possible to replicate unless you again win the lottery. The top/sub top riders can somewhat be calculated from a normal perspective though.
Can't wait to see your trainings. I have an idea that it doesn't stop with Per

Building the identity
With the success of Fernando Gaviria as an Isostar last year, the team obviously gained recognition in Colombia. Becoming a World Champion for Colombia meant the world for this enthusiastic cycling nation. This latest success catalysed the rising interest of Colombian companies in Isostar, and thus ensured some incoming sponsoring to the point that the team now has Colombia as a secondary nation. Having a total of five sponsors from Colombia (Ecopetrol and WIN Sports being the major ones, Elenas, Platzi and Torre the minor ones), the team decided to further invest into Colombians to recognize this increased role. Beneath reigning World Champion Gaviria extending and Road Captain Bolivar coming in, the team signed three further Colombians making them 1/4 of the full squad and almost 1/3 of the permanent riders.
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | Age | Wage | | Sergio Higuita | 69 | 78 | 77 | 65 | 76 | 78 | 79 | 60 | 66 | 75 | 73 | 64 | 62 | 25 | 350.000 | | Juan Chamorro | 66 | 78 | 75 | 65 | 72 | 76 | 70 | 51 | 66 | 74 | 78 | 74 | 64 | 31 | 160.000 | | Daniel Jaramillo | 66 | 77 | 75 | 60 | 70 | 69 | 69 | 60 | 67 | 76 | 76 | 66 | 62 | 31 | 70.000 |
Sergio Higuita was on the top 3 of our wishlist once it was clear that we had to sell Alexey. He signed from Xero for a big fee, while also receiving quite a big paycheck himself. Unusually for us we were willing to sign his inflated wage. But that is because Sergio will be a long term project at the squad. We envision him as a future leader of the squad, probably both in the hills and on the mountains. As a test we will try him out both as a classics, GT and stage race leader on hills and mountains (when no TTs are involved). Sergio will be a cornerpiece of the team alongside Gaviria for years to come if those developments at Isostar continue, so expect us investing in his skillset in the future.
With Juan Chamorro there is another colombian climber on the block. He surprisingly signed for a very modest wage of 160k, probably tempted by the regional plans the team put forward. He'll receive plenty of freedom, especially in Grand Tours. He's our perfect attacker for mountain stages, and that's what he aims for. So far we can't confirm whether he is a short- or medium-term project, but we will make best use of his skillset which is tailor-made for our racing style. We had to let both Teuns and Roman go due to this surprising signing, but despite that huge loss we have absolutely no regrets signing Juan.
All good things come in threes, that's why we signed a third colombian attacking punchy climber. The prototype of value rider we are looking for is Daniel Jaramillo, coming from Tafjord for a modest fee and wage. It's going to be his second stint at the team, as he once maxed his capabilities as an Isostar before going for his norwegian adventure. The opportunity to bring him back as a stage hunter especially for the three Grand Tours was too good to not take at this point, which is why we pulled the trigger when we had the chance to.
Now let's welcome our tridente of amazing colombian climbers, and let us know what you make out of them.

You might as well make Colombia your primary nationality now

Love that Colombian trio. Will always sting seeing Higuita elsewhere, really sour taste in the mouth about it all but at least it's with you and he might receive more attention than he could of with us

Didn't even think about the amount of colombians
That's actually pretty cool. The 75HI stat of Chamorro was a brainfart of mine. I thought it would help him become a better rider. He did absolutely nothing for me in that one PT season. I hope he does you a lot better.

@redordead: Won't do that with Isostar as a main sponsor and Specialized being a very close tie, but maybe in the future there is a possibility to showcase the colombian identity a little more...
@jandal7: I see, but I guess looking at Areruya now it seems to have been a short duration of pain will take good care, you can count on that!
@SotD: Well hopefully he can turn it around in another environment. His stats look good, let's hope he can ride accordingly. Loving his rider type, so let's see what's possible

Always nice to see another (partly) South American team! Think you did your sponsor proud, with not only a Colombian world champion, but two great domestique/stage hunters as well as a great talent. We both have four Colombians at the moment, and it doesn't come as a surprise that most of them are mostly strong in climbing

Adding value
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | Age | Wage | | Jan Drago Petelin | 69 | 78 | 74 | 62 | 70 | 71 | 71 | 50 | 54 | 75 | 72 | 61 | 61 | 26 | 100.000 | | Nicolay Cherkasov | 80 | 70 | 71 | 66 | 72 | 74 | 66 | 61 | 70 | 75 | 65 | 67 | 68 | 26 | 65.000 |
Two more riders finalize our 2022 additions. Both are no team captains, but we believe that they will both not only add value for our leaders, but even more so by themselves on the attack when the likes of Phinney and Gaviria are not present.
First up is our meme Rider Jan "DRAGO" Petelin. He is very well known as a pay-rider that used to keep being a pro by just buiying into a sketchy team (like Vini-Zabu). Lucky for us, these times seem to have changed as Drago looks like an awesome attacker for our GT squad. Due to the Chamorro-Deal we had to let Teuns and Roman go, but he was brought in as a replacement for our serbian local hero. We believe, that the myth guy Drago could work the Roman-role really well for pretty few wage cost.
Second and last we have Nicolay Cherkasov. He's one of the best roleurs in the world and thus naturally fits perfect into our squad for Fernando Gaviria. But further, Cherkasov can survive both hills and mountains with his engine and win a sprint from a breakaway group, which makes him an amazing asset to have as an attacker. While usually many riders of ours move teams every year, Cherkasov is one to stay for long if his wage stays similar. We also have to thank Zwift for the negotiations, that made this possible after us hitting them up multiple time these transfers about our goal rider to sign.

Great Colombian pickups in your switch to having them as secondary focus. Great riders to start off with for both the present and the future.
Petelin is someone we had our eye on in transfers as well but never quite took the plunge. He should be a great asset for the future as well.
As always, loved seeing you rebuild the team once again

Petelin is one of those guys I am embarrassed to say I never noticed as a talent or during his development and now usually see them for the first time maxed in the DB or even like this in a team HQ being presented, and apparently I also have missed a meme surrounding him
Cherkasov it almost goes without saying I love, Netia boy with a lovely cool statline who should be a great addition to the roster, as I said to you before just such a perfect signing

@AbhishekLFC: I guess either Petelin performs amazingly or his wage stays low and he stays great wage/reward. Either way I'm happy (or sad, depending on the point of view I choose). Thank you for the nice words
@jandal7: No need to be embarrassed to not know him for the quality, but for being a meme you should know him. He at some point edited his own Wikipedia to make him look more glorious, an insane guy but you gotta love him yeah loving to pick up that Netia guy, such a cool team back then.

Such a strong squad once again. Looks quite different to last year with a lot more depth replacing Lutsenko but its still easily the #1 favourit for the title in my eyes.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!
