Boswell could be very well suited to life in CT. If Keough gets back to his normal level and Kuss keeps doing what he's doing than this seems like a very nice trio to push for promotion

I agree with the previous writers. Boswell, Keough and Kuss should carry you quite far if they work out as expected - and don't forget McNulty, who could be in for quite a few U25 points already!
I hope Walscheid will be of great use to you - thanks again for helping me out! And I hope you'll be able to max him one day - but at least with the current stats he should be a great leadout rider

Thanks for the positive comments. I think we are a 5th to 10th place team in normal circumstances - not sure if these are normal circumstances. I fear for Kuss with the deeper squads this year, I think Nordstrom and Volcanica both have 2 or 3 riders at his level or better and I haven't looked at many others.
I think our upside comes from McNulty in the U25 and if Walschied and Tivani can steal some points in the sprint chaos at lesser races.
Promotion this year would be ahead of schedule so only upside there.
@redordead - Mateo found a good new home although he is still a little hurt about being rejected by his home team

I would like to echo what Abhi said, nicely done again with the regional focus, while also strengthening your team! Would be an amazing time to promote, allowing you to max McNulty yourself in PCT next season. I'm looking forward to reporting on your races, and meeting you in C1 from time to time!

I think Tivani could be one of the signings of the season, really think he could do very well in the CT this year.
Promotion will be a fight, just because the CT feels even more stacked than usual this year, but Boswell & smart McNulty planning will get in there.

After another strong performance in his favorite race, Gent Wevelgem, we asked Jakob Rathe to head out on his annual goodwill tour of Gent. He is a creature of habit so his itinerary will seem familiar.

Been a bit light on the headquarters this season (or more accurately, even lighter than past seasons). But thought I would mark the end of McCormick's third season by cataloging all the team's many successes.
So here it is. Stage 1 of the 2021 Tour of Langkawi marked an exciting milestone as it it was the stage at which all the team other than Dan Holloway exceeded Dan's win totals in his one season with us. So congrats to the boys. With 8 stage wins Luke Keough isn't far off Dan's mark in that category, Be nice to see Luke take the top spot next year.

Love the Jakob pics. Think it's great to see how you can finally rely on more than one rider to bring in wins. Next season is hopefully the promotion season for you, and I can expect that several PT teams will be glad to take in McNulty

Tivani wasn't quite the steal i thought he could be, but overall it wasn't a bad season for you.
Imagine we'll both be in a boat next year of waiting to max out our primary talent and seein what happens. Still very much a fan of this team

I think TMM has the call right on next season, 2023 is the season we should be fighting for promotion rather than the next. Thanks for the positive thoughts.
@nemo - got to let Jakob out after Gent Wevelgem as it is one chance to shine all season.
@TMM - I think Tivani is 1 sp short of being good in the sprints and probably lost opportunities because I had 2 secondary sprinters. Unfortunately I think he is also a few FL short of being a really strong lead out.

With the 2021 season wrapping up I thought I would end McCormick’s third season with some awards. Very creative, I know. Given the World’s were in our home country we held the award banquet a little late in case one of riders did something interesting that needed to be considered. As it turns out the best performance came from a non-American with loan-in Adomaitis Rojus taking 3rd in the U23 race. We have never been ashamed of taking credit for the performances of our loan-in riders so we will consider that performance below.
Young Rider of the Year

The team's focus remains the development of young American riders so this is a big award, although the award isn’t limited to Americans. So, Rojus deserves some consideration for his WC heroics and for an excellent Avenir. On the other hand, this is a McCormick award, and in McCormick colors the more notable performance came from a different young sprinter, Noah Granigan. In our home race, the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, Noah somewhat made up for the failures of our main sprinter by taking 9th in the GC and 1st in the young rider competition. Last year’s winner, Thomas Revard, deserves consideration for excellent domestique work in support of two to of our season highlights: Thanakhan Chaiyasombat’s heroic pursuit of the Tour of America King of the Mountains and Brandon McNulty’s breakaway win in Venezuela. But if we are to consider the domestique work we must also consider the authors of those rides. For loan-in Chaiyasombat the Tour of America was the main highlight of the season but if you are going to please our sponsors that is the right place to enjoy your highlight. In many ways his performance and eventual 2nd place in the KOM salvaged the entire tour for the team. McNulty has a more diverse portfolio as he added a couple of young rider wins ahead of arch rival William Barta and finished 6th in the U23 WC TT and 3rd in Avenir (which realistically was the minimum acceptable performance). A lot to consider but the winner is:
Mateo Frankovic Domestique of the Year

With the award’s namesake plying his trade for Aker-MOT (congrats to Mateo on another Croatian RR title) we will have a new winner this year. We noted Revard’s domestique work above and McNulty also had some good turns in that role. Team stalwart Jakob Rathe was often present in the sprints and put in his usual strong performance in Gent Wevelgem. But really there can be only one winner here. Signed in the CT draft, so we had a support rider for Ian Boswell, he came through again and again, helping to close gaps and protect Boswell until the very end of most races. And the winner is
Dan Holloway Rider of the Year

2020 Sepp Kuss
2019 Dan Holloway
Typically, this award has gone to one of our leaders. And this year will be no different, so there are 3 candidates. Sepp Kuss took a stage win, a GC win and a mountain jersey, Luke Keough took 3 stage wins and a points jersey and Ian Boswell took 2 stage wins and a classic. Kuss finished 17th in the individual rankings with 299 points , Keough 21st (280) and Boswell 14th (327). Pretty close based on the statistics. Last year’s winner, Kuss, was the best in terms of points per dollar and at the Tour of the Middle East won both his first stage and first GC in our colors. But he ended his season with the let down in Langkawi and the atrocity in America and those are hard to forget. Keough had his own memorable failure in the USA Pro Cycling Challenge and the sponsors got to see that one up close and personal. So that leaves only one man standing, a rider who despite having minimal team support and maximum expectations performed throughout the season and gave us, for the first time, a strong presence in the hilly races. The third winner of the Dan Holloway Rider of the Year is

Tought for Keough to be missing out on the RotY Award after a second successive season of solid performances. He may never achieve the legendary status of Holloway following that inaugural season, but if he continues to produce at the rate he has been then I have no doubt that he will become a household name. If you can keep the trio of Boswell, Keough, and Kuss for next season then you'll have a great platform for promotion: just need an elite timetriallist and/or flandrienne to finish it off. That, and a nice loan to the ProTour for McNulty of course. |

I have a lot of doubt about that. The Holloway factor does mean the poor guy is held to a higher standard than everyone else on the team. Those are the breaks.

Feel like the Young Rider Award needs a namesake, I can suggest Daniel Habtemichael  Have a huge soft spot for this team thanks to that awesome year and because of you, looking forward to what you have cooking for 2022. I love a slow burn and when this one comes time to get cooking it will be a beautiful thing I think

Interesting option on the name, I have another young rider in mind but he has to actually win the award himself first. Of course Habetmicheal might not have won the award if I hadn't missed that Ka Hoo Fung won a stage on loan for me that year.
