[PT/PCT/CT] Calendar, Goals and Race Profiles 2022
ManGame-Admin
The Race Profiles forum for the 2022 season is now online. This year, it is ordered by race category. Some very few race are potentially wrongly placed due to late changes. You will always be able to find them via the search function. Right now some race clash informations might still be missing there, but you can always find any clashes in the calendar in the monthly overviews. An important thing to remember when looking at the race profiles with a time trial symbol: a white clock is an ITT, a TT symbol with a jersey in it is a TTT.

The 2022 calendar file (which also has the HC/PTHC bands listed) can be downloaded here: https://pcmdaily....endar.xlsx

---

It is also now possible for you to decide on your team goals then.

Team Goals form a vital part of each team's season. In the short term, how hard goals you pick will determine your final budget - but in the longer term, how well you achieve those goals in the season will have a significant effect on your budget for the following season.

Going for harder goals could reward you greatly if you achieve them, but will punish you if you fail them. Easier goals will be less punishing if you dont achieve them, but they are in turn less rewarding aswell.

For new CT teams, it obviously isnt easy to pick goals without knowing what your team will be - so now is the time to decide which races you want to focus on, and you can then target riders in the transfers season appropriately.

Each type of goal has a cost, and every team must select 5 goals. The total goal cost must be between 14 and 23. There are also certain constraints on what type of goal you can select.

All teams must have exactly 1 C1 Goal
As C1 is not guaranteed, the OR Goal will be extended for CT teams
All teams must have a Team Standings Goal
No more than 1 goal per race
No more than 1 Points/KoM Goal

Note for all: The stage wins goals means stage wins. Overall race victories - be it a stage race or one day race - do not count. Stages wins during PT races for PCT teams do not count either.

Race Flexibility

For one of your goals, you can select 2 races (of the same goal cost) rather than 1. For example: "Top 10, Paris - Nice OR Tour of Qatar". At the end of the transfer season, you must then choose which of these two races you want to keep in your goal.

C1 Goals Flexibility for CT Teams

CT teams must have exactly 1 C1 goal, which is difficult as it`s not guaranteed for you to take part in that race. Therefore you MUST use an additional flexible OR goal on another C1 race, in which you send priority list of another 4 C1 race goals of the same goal cost where the C1 goal will move over in case you weren`t getting a spot. This doesn`t impact the one regular flexible OR goal as written above for all teams, which still can be used by CT teams.

For example:
Win C1 1 Jour de Dunkerque 6
OR Win Priority List
Berlin ProRace 6
Hong Kong Challenge 6
La Tropicale Amissa Bongo 6
Tour de Vineyards 6

Submitting your Goals

To submit your goals, please use the table format as seen in the spoiler and send it via PM s as seen further below.

Made some small changes. CT Team standings top-10 is now worth 3 points again, whereas the '15 and 10 stage wins in a season' have been changed to 12 and 8 stage wins because of the calendar reducing a bit.

Also, I think a shout-out to the calendar team is definitely in its place here as well. Ulrich, redordead and Abhishek have been working incredibly hard the last couple of months, making sure the calendar, races and race profiles are all what they are today, so thank you very much for that. Also a big thanks to everyone else helping with the off-season tasks at the moment.

Just some additional information, as I didn't realize this in the past:
Races in the profile thread are ordered exactly as you find them on the first tab of the calendar file, i.e. PTM, PT, C1 and C2 are sorted alphabetically, and PTHC/HC according to the order in the calendar file.

The only exception I'm aware of is Berlin ProRace, which is the very last of the C1 races, as it was decided only once the posts were done which sprint classic it would finally be.

And please PM me or someone of the calendar team if any of the clashes listed isn't correct.

roturn
Just like all other divisions, the number of stage wins needed in PT to acchieve the goal is reduced.

12/8 in PT/PCT and 8/5 in CT.

And as usual, only stage wins count, no stage race GCs or classic wins!

I am not sure I understand the "OR goals" thing, but I will try

Just ask if you're not sure.
You have to select an OR goal for the C1 race category, listing 5 (prioritized) options, all having the same goal cost. Usually it will be Win Race A OR Win Race B OR ...
But it would also be allowed to have Top 10 Race A OR Points Jersey Race B OR KoM Jersey Race C as they all have the same goal cost (3 in this case).

Additionally, you CAN select another OR goal, with just 2 options however. E.g. Win 5 Stages OR Top 10 in C2 race (both have goal cost 2).

If anything is unclear, just hit up a fellow manager - for goals selection maybe those of your division aren't the best suited ones as long as they haven't submitted their own goals, though Wink

Tbf for the "C1 Or Flexiility" you don't have to worry about cost as it's only race options, which will always give the same cost because they all have to be C1, you can't swap different options for the same C1 race (that's how i read the new idea).

For a CT Team the "normal" OR isn't hugely important, as you are basically guaranteed entry to every C2 race you want.
Just as a tip, as a new CT team i'd maybe use the OR to split across two different types of race (i.e Race A is flat, Race B is hilly) as you never quite know how transfers will turn out, then you can pick to best fit the riders you sign.

No, you can't use different options for the same race, but you could - in my understanding - use different options for different races. Like get a Top 10 in Berlin OR take the KoM jersey in Tour of America - both C1 races, both with goal cost 3. At least that's how I interpret the following:

ManGame-Admin wrote:

[...] send priority list of another 4 C1 race goals of the same goal cost where the C1 goal will move over in case you weren`t getting a spot. [...]

But I agree it's not completely clear, as the example only has Win goals listed - and the Top10 vs. Points/KoM jersey actually are the only "same-value-options".

That's a fair point, i just blackout the Points/KoM option from my mind given PCM's randomness in those competitions.
Although that could then get messy if you have a Points/KoM Goal for a C2 race, as you'd need to swap that as well (being only allowed one Points/Kom Goal in total).
Maybe the Flexibility wording needs tidying up/tightening (Or we could see an Or overriding an Or needing an Or to correct the Or Or it will all go horribly wrong)

I see Chrono d'Arenberg now officially has two stages put in the profiles thread. Does that mean the race is counted as a PTHC stage race and 4 points, or a PTHC classic and 3 points for a PT team?

It is still a classic. Same with Herbiers and Isle of Man. It will just be run twice as we have been doing for the past couple of seasons.

To be honest, I've never paid a lot of attention to the Points/KoM Jersey goals. Now I'm thinking a bit more in-depth about those goals, and I've got a question (yeah, me again, of course ^^):

Do I have to select whether I target the KoM jersey or the points jersey, or is the goal fulfilled if I get any of those two?

ManGame-Admin
You indeed have to select what jersey you are targeting.

ManGame-Admin
I would also like to add, that if anyone is waiting on their budget to do their renewals, please send me a message with your goals as well.

One note on the pure flat races. We have added a mountain stage to the parcour for each of the races listed below. It will not be run or reported but is intended to change AI behavior. Testing has shown this resolves the GC bug where riders in the top 5ish in GC don't sprint. The mountain stage takes them all out of GC consideration.

This should make top sprinters a little more confident about achieving results in these races and likely makes the best sprinters a little better and the weaker ones a little worse. Testing didn't show any major negative impacts, but there is only so much time for testing so we will view this as an experiment this year.

Impacted races are:
Qatar
Juarez
Baltic Chain
Tour of Guadeloupe
USA Pro Cycling Challenge
Ras Tailteann
Man Game: McCormick Pro Cycling

Hey,
I created a forum-compatible 2022 calendar, in the format I always use in my HQ. As the race selection obviously isn't done yet, this time I made one with all races contained.
So whoever wants to use it in some way, feel free to do so - be it in your HQ, season previews, or whatever...

Just some notes/hints:
- The color codes are roughly the same as in the calendar excel file. However, I had to adapt them for better readability; while they are good as background colors, they're mostly too bright as font colors (and background colors don't work in this forum afaik). Especially the C2 yellow had to be changed - but as there's no C2HC this year, this shouldn't lead to any confusion.
- I used the regional flags for Catalunya and Pais Vasco (3 races in total); feel free to replace them by the Spanish flag if you wish.
- For races across multiple countries, I just took start and finish locations of the profiles, so the flags may not be complete. Especially for ToNE, there are just a couple of stages in Belgium; the rest are "anonymous" stages.

Hit me up in case of questions or if you've got some ideas to make this calendar better/more readable. If you want to use it, best is to quote this post and use the part of it that you need Smile
