Not a lot of top tier puncheurs hail from Switzerland but that is the terrain for 2022 National Championship. Jura and Sauber dominate the favorites list. Stocker is here to defend his title but will more likely look to hand it off to a teammate.

Jura do most of the work to control the break with a little help from Aregger. With 11k to go the break is caught and the front group is down to 13 as Thiery launches the first attack.
Aregger and Frankiny lead the chase but Thiery uses his downhill ability to extend his lead to 18 seconds as they hit the flat section leading to the final climb. 10 riders left in the chase.
Thiery is caught on the flat and Froidevaux and Schmid lead on to the final climb for Jura. Puma duo of Stüssi and Aregger behind them. Thiery, Lienhard, Mäder, Frankiny, Pellaud, Suter, and Chavanne the others still present.
Under the 1k banner Stüssi goes to the front Thiery and Lienhard behind him.
400 meters, still Stüssi, Frankiny making up ground on the inside.
But as quickly as he reaches the front Frankiny fades, he did a lot of chasing to catch Thiery earlier, and with 100 meters Lienhard is on the front.
It is a Jura 1-2 as Lienhard saves his best race of the season for last. Thiey 2nd and Pellaud third. Jura made their numbers count.
That Swiss NC jersey might make Lienhard a more popular figure in Jura offices than he was before today.

Time Trial
With defending champion Dillier missing it isn’t a deep field in the time trial. Stüssi the favorite on paper.
Mäder is the first finisher among the top contenders. He takes over the hot seat 2’11 up on Stocker
Bissegger was 19 seconds down at the 2nd time check.
He loses 3 more seconds and finishes 22 seconds back.
Stüssi is last man on the course. Not looking good for him, he was 21 seconds down at the time check.
He is unable to gain any ground in the last section and finishes in 2nd. Mäder is the Swiss National Time Trial Champion. He will hope to win a few more of those in the years to come.
