SAA Tour d'Afrique - Preview
Teams from the Pro Tour and Pro Continental Tour meet together in South Africa for 4 flat stages which should be a festival of sprinting.
Plenty of riders who will be fighting for the win here. The top favourites are Coquard, who has a great lead-out in Farantakis, and Degenkolb who has a capable Santos as his main lieutenant.
Grosu will be expecting to be up there too. Kennaugh, Demare and Swift also have very capable lead-out men and will be expecting to contest for the Top 5 and better.

A decent performance by Manninen could bring him to a 1000-points season. Go go Matti! Thanks for the preview, looking forward to the reports

A nice race for me to finally return to MG / Daily for, with Degenkolb a top favourite. Baska then Santos as primary lead-out train option with the likes of Sagiv ready to substitute in if required. Otherwise strong flat-beasts with good engines for controlling the break fill the rest of the roster.
Regards to all the usual suspects in terms of fellow managers and reporters/admins in particular. I have been catching up on the season that I have missed, and the ISA - Hexacta 2021 story seems to have been a rollercoaster of ups-and-downs. 3 stages at Le Tour for home-boy Thibault Pinot was a particular stand-out, but there are many other reports that I also need to peruse to fully understand the season to date . Given LLS was also the reporter in France, hopefully he brings ISA some more good fortune along with his top quality reporting.
Keep an eye out for a near-term resurrection of the team HQ (!!!).

You mean four opportunities to keep dissapointing you :-)
On paper a good race for Coquard. Often the theory isn’t backed by praksis here.

Absolutely no expectations here. Would be happy if we hit a breakaway or two.
Should be some tense battles between the sprinters, looking forward to see it unfold. |

Hoping for breakaways with lots of bonus seconds here, as I can't expect Reinhardt to be competitive enough with that insane competition.

A good position on the strength chart for Demare to be in, but I also thought that in our home race and it didn't turn out to help at all...

Yeah, sure, PCM lets a team with a minor outsider do a lot of the work... We definitely should be in the breakaways and not leading the peloton. But it's nothing new that PCM20 hates our sprint race setup. If anyone could point out what we're doing wrong, that would be welcome.
Nonetheless, congrats to Swift. Obviously those in the Top 10 are all stronger sprinters than Reinhardt, so the result is fine for me - but not the way it happened.

Even though it should have been an easy win with that leadout, a fourth place gives me good hope for the GC this race.

Unexpected, but I'll take it! Nice win for Swift. Time for the team to step up and defend the GC lead.

Well done Kaislavuo to be present up in the breakaway. I can't ask for more! Would have been great if he could have taken the KoM jersey, but his 4 points anyway makes me hopeful he might want more moving on in this race.
Nice to see former rider Swift win. He still got it! Congratulations, Mre |

Not an ideal start to the race, but we were never in charge of things and I guess 7th is a decent position to be in to actually get to sprint in the future.
Let's see what stage 2 brings.

After going AWOL on stage 1, Degenkolb repays team managements continued faith with a well-timed lunge for the line to win stage 2 . Topsy-turvy results s1 vs. s2 from the sprint contenders means this catapults Degenkolb right back into GC contention. Baska as last man in the lead-out suggests maybe Santos was caught in the split and therefore badly positioned as the sprint started forming after the peloton reformed (I assume).
With his 1st decline imminent, these images of a MG institution rider winning bunch sprints must now be numbered, hence every last one is to be cherished!
Thanks for the reports LLS. Fingers crossed no crazy BotD antics stored up for s3 or 4.
