Celtic Chrono
The C1 Celtic Chrono returns for its 4th edition under that name (it ran as the Isle of Man TT in the previous 8 editions). The last 3 winners are Kittel, Viennet and Coppel and they are all back to try for another win along with 2016 Isle of Man winner Fielder. The latter came close to his 2nd win last year but finished 2nd to Kittel. Dominique Cornu is the only 2 time winner (including Isle of Man races).
The race will be contested over two legs of a 48km course. The route is pretty much flat but with a small rise in the latter 3rd. The top 16 TT riders are:
| TT | RE | MT | | Zmorka | 82 | 75 | 61 | Durbridge | 81 | 74 | 58 | Lammertink | 80 | 76 | 64 | Gonzalez Salas | 80 | 76 | 57 | Fiedler | 80 | 71 | 57 | Howson | 80 | 74 | 59 | Kittel | 80 | 69 | 54 | Mullen | 80 | 74 | 62 | Viennet | 80 | 75 | 54 | Dillier | 80 | 77 | 51 | Fraile | 79 | 76 | 76 | Oliveira | 79 | 72 | 70 | Cataford | 79 | 75 | 72 | Coppel | 79 | 72 | 62 | Brändle | 79 | 73 | 76 | Haugard | 79 | 77 | 57 |
The top favorite is Zmorka, he was 6th last year, 5th in 2018, 7th in 2014 and 21st in 2013, so historically he hasn’t been great here. Durbridge is the next best on paper and had some success in 2018 finishing 2nd before dropping to 6th in 2019. Behind these two there are an evenly matched group of 8 that includes all the former winners except Coppel, who is in the next group.

Not expecting anything here given the field but hopefully one of Cosnefroy or Thomas can hit good daily form and get us a massive result! Cosnefroy pretty good over a bump so he may benefit if that comes into play.
Thanks for the preview Ulrich and good luck to all! Zmorka or Durbridge should win but if that hill has an impact then who knows!

Well AC's chances depend on how much MO will play a role, eyes on the Top10 and more than that would be a good result. Watching how Campbell goes of course as we plan our future.
Might need to revisit the race Name next season, as Celtic is somewhat vague as a descriptor even with the GB flag attached.

Not actually sure where the route is. I have a nice ZCTS of the Isle of Man so we could return it to its roots.

The win looks difficult, as Zmorka really must be the favourite. Behind him, though, anything between 2nd and 10th should be posible for Lammertink. Fingers crossed he gets good daily form!
Kind of surprised to not see Keizer here, I must say, though it also means one less competitor for the podium places. |

Well, the word "Celtic" justifies Glanbia's participation here .
Usual strategy of just throwing all my TTers at it and hope one of them hits the sweet spot

Kind of why i mentioned it, because it's always nice to know where we ride. I assume with the name change it's not the IoM TT course as previous. But then Celtic could place it in Cornwall, or Scotland, or Ireland. Like calling something the American Chrono, technically correct but not that useful.
Plus i loved the connection to the world famous TT course!

Zmorka hasn´t performed very well here in the past, and I fear that climb will be too long for him. Top-5 would be nice, with Sterbini maybe scoring some points as well.
Thanks for the preview!

Oh well, was always going to be tough here. Needed one of our guys to have 2 great stages. Downey nailed the first one but flopped on the second one.
At least some points from Oram.
I guess there are no "stage" points for the 1st leg , right?
Thanks for report

Got the Top10, Vanderpool actually impressed me for maybe the first time ever in a TT and Campbell showed solid promise. Not bad really.

That was a big turnaround from the first to the second leg! Happy with that, obviously, as Lammertink was really strong on the second leg. That was key after his poor first showing. Do you know if wind affected the times, both in the first and the second leg? |

Was a bit disappointed with that 10th place from Zmorka after the first leg. Then was happy to see Sterbini gain some places in the second leg, and to see Zmorka maybe getting in the top-5. Of course, I'll gladly take the win
Thanks for the report, Ulrich. TT's are always the biggest pain imo. Congratulations to those, that did well.

This race just shows us that the team is great in TT when it's a collective unit rather than individual one. But is it worth sacrificing the TTT depth to get a top TT'er next season to chase ITT glory?

Great to see Zmorka take top honours and thanks for the report!
Bit of a nothing performance from our guys. Really disappointing from Cosnefroy to see him finish so far down, even behind Castrillo who may also have had a decent day in the saddle.
Learning experience that our specialists aren't too competitive at PCT level with the current level of competition.

It rained through the first leg so maybe going earlier was better, although Fraile put up his time near the end. I don't remember noticing the wind being a factor and Zmorka and Howson's strong 2nd leg run came right around the time Gonzales Salas and others were total crap.
I think daily form is huge in ITs. I do think the two legs is great an helped normalize the results a lot.

It’s just pouring bad races for us this season not the result I wanted at all. Hopefully we can improve slightly just to improve our overall season
