Wow. I thought he had a shot to be competitive. A stage win is beyond expectations. Clearly Rathe was saving himself to help Walscheid on Stage 2.
Our first win by non-US rider, a milestone I had no expectation of achieving at any point before like 2024.
Thanks for the congrats and the reports. Back to ignominy tomorrow although I don't think we will achieve Glanbia's mark of the entire team being OTL.
Edit: Correction - Walscheid was not our first stage win by a non-US rider. Ka Hoo Fung won stage 6 of the Tour of the Vineyards for us from a break in 2019. An event I had no memory of but in a total coincidence I happened to look at the profile for that race and the entry caught my eye. Apologies Ka Hoo.
Edit: So I don't thiink I forgot. I think I didn't realize we were in the race. I didn't comment at all on the race which seems odd given we won a stage. Now I am re-assessing a lot of McCormick history. Should Fung have won McCormick Young Rider of the Year in 2019? It means McNultiy's breakaway win in California wasn't our first breakaway. Plus I get to enjoy winning a stage 2 years later. And, Abhi, thanks for a great report on the 2019 Tour of the Vineyards.

Damn, what a stage, must have been a hell to report on, but a great job as always. Great win for HelloFresh, with the Pas Normal duo also doing extremely well. Crabbe as always on the cobbles with many riders in and around the top-10, but they might have hoped for at least one of them to finish a bit higher. Nice to see Osyvannikov winning white.

The dominance of strong cobblers making the AI entertaining on Cobbled stages is always a welcome sight.
Ovsyannikov in the end with a quite respectable GC result and a win in the U25s which adds some needed points in our battle at the top.
Thank you for the great reports Abhi!! And congrats to HelloFresh on a really good win here

Didn't expect much, so Richardson's Top 10 finish is great on a terrain that we're clearly not proficient at. And Richardson is nearly certain of a contract extension.
Great reports and congrats to the winners.

Woo hoo, a lone Glanbia points scorer in a sea of dominant cobblestone teams. Had visions of Corwin sailing off to a ten minute solo victory after his crazy early attack
Great report, mental race

oh and Teggart was 3rd in U25's, are there points for that in a 1 day race?

Not in a 1 day race.
But you get points here because it's a stage race

A bit late with the warning but I'm sure you missed taking it up after seeing that last stage

I slightly hoped for a better result (top-3), but I'm guessing the value relations have been respected. Very satisfied with the depth though!
Thanks Abhi for the excellent reports and congrats whitejersey!

Thanks for reporting the carnage! GVK shows that he can still perform at the top level in these C2HC cobblesraces. Would have maybe hoped to see Puccio in a slightly better GC position, but with a yellow, stage win, stage second place and the green jersey I'd say this race has been a success for us!

What a carnage. Awesome win for van Keirsbulck and again Pas Normal and Crabbe with the depth.

Walscheid's stage win far more than I expected out of this race plus I discovered Fung's from two years ago so we'll count that.
We did almost have the whole team DNF but Rathe managed to limit his losses to 26 minutes, which is kind of bad considering he is a decent cobbler. Not a great race for him.
I think I am in the minority, but I find that stage a little over the top. Nevertheless huge kudos for Abhi for a great report and congrats to WJ.
