Another gold medal for Denmark in the Junior ITT, these guys produce machines flying against the clock.

Also, Cian Uijtdebroeks might have had an underwhelming performance but apparently it was due to an injury sustained fending off a burglar at home last week. Pfft

I'll also follow the mixed relays tomorrow. It's not as spectacular as the TTT was, but I do like the concept. The dutch field an incredible women squad, but are the men up for it? Italy is the favourite for me, but also Germany and Belgium. And the Danes of course, with another gold medal today.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I wouldn't have minded the TTT as much if it was National Teams (like the MG). Having a trade team event at the Worlds always felt wrong. UCI should have worked with some of the race promoters to add in a solo TTT even to the WT calendar!

Mixed Relay is just fun, a perfect mid-worlds-week change of pace.

I think the Swiss are the favourites, feels like the most balanced team. The Brits are also surprisingly strong here. Germany should be in the medals as well.
Dutch could have put up a slightly better unit. Italians lack the Women TT power, despite Ganna. Same issue for Denmark & Belgium.
France & US are just weak overall. Then it's the minor nations of Spain, Austria, Poland & WCC that really have no chances.

The Danish team is almost like a family ride with siblings Matthias and Emma Norsgaard and then her groom Mikkel Bjerg. Pfft

Was pretty close again Smile
Dutch women were boss, Dutch men was the weak link! Germany were seriously competitive. Britain surprisingly strong, a little disappointed in the Swiss. Ganna is a beast, but the lack of women TT power lost them a better medal.

Doing quite well predicting the Womens races thus far. Y'all need to be watching the Road Road at the weekend, because it's going to be sensational! #trustme

I would love to see this move closer to the Triathlon mixed relay, and have it almost as a ITT relay, and teams given freedom to order all 6 riders entirely as they please.

What a deserved win for Germany! Not the best 3 men, not the 3 best women, but just the best team allround.

Sad
Although the Swiss women had a horrible lineup (Chabbey completely out of form it seemed), the ones who really disappointed were the men. With that lineup, they absolutely had to post the best time - or at least be within a few seconds of flying Ganna - but that was just crap. Küng really seems to be cursed this year Sad

Does anyone know how the winners can show their win in the season? Obviously not a rainbow jersey, but some kind of symbol like the TTT champions team did in the past?

They get a Medal & Rainbow Jersey!

Because the nature of the mixed race falls outside the established UCI rule-set there's no official patch or symbol, and they can't wear the Rainbow in TTT's or ITT's. In fact from what i can find it doesn't award Rankings Points either.

Purely the pride and satisfaction of winning is the reward.

Inb4 they open a new category for transgender/mixed gender racing and use the rainbows for that Pfft

Another crash yesterday, Leila Gschwentner of the Austria junior team was hit by a bus after riding against traffic. She's probably out for the race. More reports came in of the cyclists ignoring traffic rules in a busy city. Not sure why they think this is a good idea.

They probably think the city is halfway closed due to the event. It has been some places, where basically half the inner circle of the city was shut for trafic during the Worlds.

Well, it will be from today on. There was no reason to do it earlier as the time trials came no where near Leuven. Official reconnaissance starts today, racing starts tomorrow. This was also communicated to the teams, so with the CA Sorensen crash in mind, I think this is really stupid.

I agree, you just asked why they thought it was a good idea. The riders in general have to be careful when there isn't a race going on. I always feel that it's impressive that you don't see more bad crashes, especially when the riders are training downhills on their local climbs. They go so crazy fast, and without the roads being closed it's just nuts.

Really feeling for those Lithuanian guys who missed the start by an hour.

Gonna watch the U23 race in Antwerp in a bit, this should be good!
