I'm always a bit sceptical with guys like Van Asbroeck, who are decent at multiple but not great at any one thing. But I hope it works out for you. Penasa should be a pretty reliable scorer, I think.
Hoping Penasa and Van Asbroeck can fill in the Keinath and Boev roles from last season. Probably expecting a bit too much with the PCT competition. Hope your concerns about Van Asbroeck don't come true for our safety's sake!

It is time to present our full squad for the 2021 season and our return to the PCT division. This was perhaps our toughest transfer window so far and as we struggled to get any of our top targets, we had to change course multiple times in the transfer window. While we are not happy with how things went, we are however happier with the salvage job we managed to pull off.
Climbers and Stage Racers Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | Pierre Paolo Penasa | 70 | 80 | 74 | 70 | 75 | 72 | 77 | 50 | 57 | 76 | 68 | 64 | 70 | Andrew Talansky | 70 | 78 | 76 | 71 | 74 | 75 | 76 | 55 | 58 | 68 | 62 | 65 | 71 | Cristian Raileanu | 66 | 77 | 77 | 63 | 74 | 73 | 76 | 56 | 59 | 70 | 69 | 67 | 65 | Charles Anguilet | 65 | 76 | 74 | 63 | 69 | 71 | 73 | 50 | 57 | 64 | 71 | 60 | 63 | Dylan Teuns | 68 | 75 | 78 | 64 | 73 | 73 | 76 | 50 | 66 | 72 | 70 | 65 | 60 | Riccardo Zoidl | 68 | 74 | 73 | 75 | 69 | 66 | 70 | 55 | 60 | 67 | 74 | 58 | 71 | Joonas Henttala | 66 | 74 | 68 | 73 | 73 | 72 | 72 | 50 | 60 | 67 | 63 | 71 | 73 | Victor Lafay | 65 | 72 | 72 | 62 | 70 | 70 | 70 | 62 | 62 | 70 | 74 | 66 | 60 | Ide Schelling | 70 | 72 | 69 | 66 | 72 | 71 | 68 | 63 | 62 | 66 | 71 | 66 | 68 |
Pierre Paolo Penasa leads our mountain team for the season. Andrew Talansky is also expected to lead in certain races. Cristian Raileanu is an all-round climber and will play the role of a super-domestique this season. Anguilet and Teuns will also have important roles in the mountain train with able support from Zoidl, Henttala, Lafay and Schelling.
Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | Wilco Kelderman | 70 | 71 | 82 | 70 | 80 | 75 | 73 | 62 | 67 | 72 | 77 | 71 | 70 | Dylan Teuns | 68 | 75 | 78 | 64 | 73 | 73 | 76 | 50 | 66 | 72 | 70 | 65 | 60 | Cristian Raileanu | 66 | 77 | 77 | 63 | 74 | 73 | 76 | 56 | 59 | 70 | 69 | 67 | 65 | Andrew Talansky | 70 | 78 | 76 | 71 | 74 | 75 | 76 | 55 | 58 | 68 | 62 | 65 | 71 | Tom David | 74 | 62 | 75 | 65 | 76 | 74 | 70 | 78 | 70 | 73 | 68 | 70 | 65 | Roy Jans | 76 | 53 | 74 | 63 | 74 | 73 | 65 | 68 | 74 | 74 | 68 | 70 | 66 | Charles Anguilet | 65 | 76 | 74 | 63 | 69 | 71 | 73 | 50 | 57 | 64 | 71 | 60 | 63 | Victor Lafay | 65 | 72 | 72 | 62 | 70 | 70 | 70 | 62 | 62 | 70 | 74 | 66 | 60 | Jasper Bovenhuis | 73 | 58 | 71 | 59 | 74 | 70 | 72 | 74 | 62 | 68 | 79 | 65 | 59 |
Kelderman is back leading our hills line-ups in the PCT, and we will be hoping for a much improved performance from him this season. He has a much stronger and well-rounded support team around him this time. Teuns is expected to be his chief lieutenant but the latter is also expected to get leadership duties in a couple of hills races. The versatile Raileanu and Anguilet will ride on the hills as well. We are looking the possibility Talansky joining the hills squad in certain races if required. Tom David could make some guest appearances on the hills if required. Roy Jans is expected to add muscle power to the hills as well. Lafay and Bovenhuis are also expected to help out.
Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | Tom David | 74 | 62 | 75 | 65 | 76 | 74 | 70 | 78 | 70 | 73 | 68 | 70 | 65 | Tomas Paprstka | 75 | 62 | 69 | 62 | 74 | 70 | 68 | 75 | 70 | 72 | 69 | 78 | 63 | Jasper Bovenhuis | 73 | 58 | 71 | 59 | 74 | 70 | 72 | 74 | 62 | 68 | 79 | 65 | 59 | Tom Van Asbroeck | 75 | 53 | 71 | 66 | 75 | 72 | 79 | 74 | 80 | 78 | 74 | 68 | 74 | Daniel Moricz | 70 | 58 | 66 | 65 | 70 | 68 | 66 | 72 | 64 | 63 | 75 | 64 | 65 |
Tom David is our leader for the cobblestones. Parstka and Bivenhuis are expected to accompany him to all cobbled races while Van Asbroeck might make the occasional appearance. Moricz will also be ever-present in the cobbles squads.
Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | Tom Van Asbroeck | 75 | 53 | 71 | 66 | 75 | 72 | 79 | 74 | 80 | 78 | 74 | 68 | 74 | Roy Jans | 76 | 53 | 74 | 63 | 74 | 73 | 65 | 68 | 74 | 74 | 68 | 70 | 66 | Tomas Paprstka | 75 | 62 | 69 | 62 | 74 | 70 | 68 | 75 | 70 | 72 | 69 | 78 | 63 | Tom David | 74 | 62 | 75 | 65 | 76 | 74 | 70 | 78 | 70 | 73 | 68 | 70 | 65 |
It was a conscious decision, much like last year before the draft, to not concentrate on the flat terrain. However, when the chance to sign Van Asbroeck came around late in transfers, we jumped on it to get in a serious leader in all terrains. Jans and Paprstka will be his primary helpers, while David is also expected to show up in certain flat races.
Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | Tom Dumoulin | 71 | 59 | 68 | 78 | 75 | 76 | 70 | 52 | 65 | 67 | 66 | 60 | 78 | Riccardo Zoidl | 68 | 74 | 73 | 75 | 69 | 66 | 70 | 55 | 60 | 67 | 74 | 58 | 71 | Joonas Henttala | 66 | 74 | 68 | 73 | 73 | 72 | 72 | 50 | 60 | 67 | 63 | 71 | 73 |
We have added Zoidl to our TT setup from last season. Talansky is also expected to join the team in TTT races, unless he is tied up otherwise.
Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | Gijs Leemreize | 65 | 69 | 68 | 63 | 66 | 69 | 66 | 60 | 62 | 66 | 69 | 65 | 63 | Marten Kooistra | 69 | 59 | 64 | 58 | 68 | 66 | 57 | 66 | 70 | 70 | 61 | 62 | 63 |
Our yearly Dutch talent acquisition sees Leemrieze join the squad and the future Dutch climber factory line. We are pleased to have picked him up cheaply and will be taking care of his development ourselves.
Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | Jhojan Garcia | 67 | 69 | 68 | 65 | 70 | 70 | 67 | 55 | 63 | 69 | 60 | 62 | 64 | Luka Sagadin | 69 | 68 | 68 | 61 | 68 | 68 | 66 | 54 | 66 | 68 | 70 | 68 | 62 |
Garcia and Sagadin will ride as Stagiares this season. They should develop into useful riders going uphill.
Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | Wilco Kelderman | 70 | 71 | 82 | 70 | 80 | 75 | 73 | 62 | 67 | 72 | 77 | 71 | 70 | Pierre Paolo Penasa | 70 | 80 | 74 | 70 | 75 | 72 | 77 | 50 | 57 | 76 | 68 | 64 | 70 | Tom Van Asbroeck | 75 | 53 | 71 | 66 | 75 | 72 | 79 | 74 | 80 | 78 | 74 | 68 | 74 | Tom David | 74 | 62 | 75 | 65 | 76 | 74 | 70 | 78 | 70 | 73 | 68 | 70 | 65 | Andrew Talansky | 70 | 78 | 76 | 71 | 74 | 75 | 76 | 55 | 58 | 68 | 62 | 65 | 71 | Dylan Teuns | 68 | 75 | 78 | 64 | 73 | 73 | 76 | 50 | 66 | 72 | 70 | 65 | 60 | Cristian Raileanu | 66 | 77 | 77 | 63 | 74 | 73 | 76 | 56 | 59 | 70 | 69 | 67 | 65 | Tomas Paprstka | 75 | 62 | 69 | 62 | 74 | 70 | 68 | 75 | 70 | 72 | 69 | 78 | 63 | Roy Jans | 76 | 53 | 74 | 63 | 74 | 73 | 65 | 68 | 74 | 74 | 68 | 70 | 66 | Charles Anguilet | 65 | 76 | 74 | 63 | 69 | 71 | 73 | 50 | 57 | 64 | 71 | 60 | 63 | Tom Dumoulin | 71 | 59 | 68 | 78 | 75 | 76 | 70 | 52 | 65 | 67 | 66 | 60 | 78 | Jasper Bovenhuis | 73 | 58 | 71 | 59 | 74 | 70 | 72 | 74 | 62 | 68 | 79 | 65 | 59 | Riccardo Zoidl | 68 | 74 | 73 | 75 | 69 | 66 | 70 | 55 | 60 | 67 | 74 | 58 | 71 | Joonas Henttala | 66 | 74 | 68 | 73 | 73 | 72 | 72 | 50 | 60 | 67 | 63 | 71 | 73 | Victor Lafay | 65 | 72 | 72 | 62 | 70 | 70 | 70 | 62 | 62 | 70 | 74 | 66 | 60 | Ide Schelling | 70 | 72 | 69 | 66 | 72 | 71 | 68 | 63 | 62 | 66 | 71 | 66 | 68 | Daniel Moricz | 70 | 58 | 66 | 65 | 70 | 68 | 66 | 72 | 64 | 63 | 75 | 64 | 65 | Jhojan Garcia | 67 | 69 | 68 | 65 | 70 | 70 | 67 | 55 | 63 | 69 | 60 | 62 | 64 | Luka Sagadin | 69 | 68 | 68 | 61 | 68 | 68 | 66 | 54 | 66 | 68 | 70 | 68 | 62 | Gijs Leemreize | 65 | 69 | 68 | 63 | 66 | 69 | 66 | 60 | 62 | 66 | 69 | 65 | 63 | Marten Kooistra | 69 | 59 | 64 | 58 | 68 | 66 | 57 | 66 | 70 | 70 | 61 | 62 | 63 |
We have three Toms and a Tomas. All four of their wages combined are less than what Xero is paying their Tom!
Once it became clear to us that our top targets were out of reach this transfer window, we started to target a competitive leader for every terrain and depth of squad behind them. We think we managed to achieve the same to some extent and hope it is enough for us to keep picking up points everywhere which would help us keep safe. We are quite realistic about our prospects this season, and do not believe anything better than 20th place is a realistic expectation. We hope to keep our heads above the relegation water and just about managing to scrape through is fine by us at this point.
We know that this is not be the greatest advertisement of our team-building and neither it is the greatest target to present to our sponsors after they have backed us so loyally and thoroughly. However, staying in the PCT will help us take the next step in our evolution. With multiple riders reaching their peaks at the end of the season and coming back to lead the team next time around, it is better for our future to remain in the PCT and allow them to do so.

Mountains and hills are incredibly stacked here! I think you did a great job building up more support for Kelderman. And Penasa has definitely shown his potential last year; these two should contribute a lot to carrying you to safety
However, I definitely hope for you that Tom David will do much, much better than what he did for Bennelong last year. If he does, that should be worth a great bunch of points as well. Van Asbroeck surely is your wildcard for the easier cobbles, but he should also be competitive in pure sprints. And he has good PRL. What can the man NOT do? Great value for this wage, congrats!
If Kelderman does a "normal" job (i.e. much better than last time in PCT), he should really make you stay up together with Penasa and a lot of depth points! Looking forward to racing against you for another year

@Fabianski: Think you covered it mostly. Hoping depth can make up for lack of top leaders. Hoping David can find a useful niche. Hoping Van Asbroeck can be useful in different kinds of races. And also hoping the well rounded support staff can keep chipping away with points all through the season.
@Ollfardh: Hope he proves you right

I think you have a pretty good chance to achieve that 20th place goal. You have a strong group of sub top leaders and Kelderman as the face of the team and i would be surprised if you drop into the relegation spots. |

Well I was surprised the last time too Target is simply survival this time, and then maybe we can have a good bas to build on next season. Hope these guys can achieve that.

Comparing to my team, I actually think you have a much better team than me. Not sure if thats good or bad for either of us, but it very deep and you still have some great talents coming along too.

There's no one in my squad who'll be able to be on par with Kinoshita's scoring and Shikai should also be better than Penasa I think, so I'm not sure about that. Our sprint setup is basically a one man and a half man show too
I am excited about those talents though

I get Kraftwerk vibes from this setup. Loads of depth, but replace TTs with cobbles and some sprint depth with a great puncheur like Kelderman.
And I agree with knockout the chances of achieving that top 20 place are pretty good

Kraftwerk were indeed an inspiration once the leader plans failed to materialize. Kelderman struggled with poor support last time, so we did not want to take chances there either. I hope the predictions you guys are making come true

Depth, great leaders, regional talents, all lovely to see. Have to admit that I'm also a bit skeptical of Van Asbroeck, but I hope he proves me wrong I'll be cheering for you this season, and as long as Penasa doesn't go to Spilak races I'll make sure to keep Mighty Mutsumine away from the Wilco races

Don't know about great but we hope to have got effective leaders in to attack all terrains. Love those regional talents though
At the time Van Asbroeck was among the best options available and I didn't want to go into the season with nothing in the sprints. He should be able to contribute on the cobbles as well. Hope he does both of the above.
Even if Penasa does go to Spilak races, it's unlikely the former comes up trumps in most of them! Mutsumine missing Wilco's race would help though

In my opinion you did well to build your team. Sure the price for Van Asbroeck was quite high but that late in transfers it was a good decision to take him.
I'm sure Tom David can get back his old form. For me he was an essential part of the team in the year I promoted to PT. 500k for him will be a bargain. |

Thanks
Hope David finds his form again for sure. The hope is that PCT suits him better. Van Asbroeck was a necessity at that point, so price tag wasn't really the top concern.

It is time to look at the talents we have recruited over time, who will be developing with us or elsewhere this season. A total of nine riders are on the development path in our books, including four who are loaned out and two Stagiares.
Riccardo Minali | Loaned-Out
Age: 26 | Level: 4 Minali will complete the final step of his development at Aegon - Peroni this season. He is already a decent option as a leadout rider and can hope to pick up some points this season, even at PT level.

Kevin Inkelaar | Loaned Out
Age: 24 | Level: 4 Inkelaar will ride with PT champions Isostar as he takes the last step towards becoming our leader for pure climbing races from next season.

Pascal Eenkhoorn | Loaned-Out
Age: 24 | Level: 4 Eenkhoorn is the more rounded stage racer on our books. He will also ride in the PT with Generali this season to complete his development. We love his Prologue stat!
Stats | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 2021 | 70 | 76 | 72 | 67 | 74 | 76 | 78 | 65 | 64 | 71 | 69 | 67 | 73 | Climber v1 | 70 | 78 | 74 | 67 | 75 | 77 | 80 | 65 | 64 | 73 | 71 | 67 | 73 | Climber v2 | 70 | 78 | 73 | 67 | 76 | 78 | 79 | 65 | 64 | 72 | 70 | 69 | 73 | Stage Race | 71 | 78 | 73 | 69 | 76 | 77 | 80 | 65 | 64 | 71 | 69 | 67 | 75 |

Philips certainly have the monopoly on Dutch climbing talent

The MGUCI have recently announced the PCT wildcards for the 2021 season and we have been allocated the same for the iconic Milan San Remo and Liege - Bastogne - Liege races! This will be our first experience of Monument racing and we cannot wait to get on the startlist. We are very excited to have been given this opportunity and aim to showcase ourselves the best we can.
