In more relevant news, the biggest day of the season is under way. The peloton has just started the climb to Torre, with W52 already down to just 6 riders.
Insane stuff!

I still can't understand exactly what everyone was thinking. Just... no tactics. Everyone racing for themselves all around |

And now the flying Uruguayan, Mauricio Moreira, along with Abner Gonzalez, have been penalised with 40 and 20 seconds respectively for illegal feeding. If Efapel still dreamt of winning, now I guess these are shattered. Welcome to the Grandissima shitshow, where a 39 and 41 year old Galicians are leading this year’s edition. |

After yesterday's debacle there's a 3v3 (W52 and Efapel) group ahead of the Tavira-led peloton. You just don't see this sort of stuff elsewhere

Grandíssima is turning into a full on shitshow and for even worse reasons than Maurício Moreira being the new Alarcon.
Daniel Freitas, the current race leader, has been sent home as his team has gotten a second positive covid-19 test. It's the third team, after Caja Rural and Euskadi, to be sent home because of covid positives, with Tavira also having sent two riders home already. Something here isn't right as I can't remember so many covid positives in a race since the pandemic started |

Mauricio Moreira is the new Tadej Pogacar. Would like to see the Slovenian beat him up Larouco and Senhora da Graça. |

The funny thing is, no one said the name of the race, but we all know which one it is
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Even if Amaro Antunes won his second consecutive Volta a Portugal, I'd rather say Mauricio Moreira just lost the victory. 40 second penalty on stage 4 (absurd since he accepted a water bottle from the crowd when feeding had closed), plus a crash on a slight descent (his main weakness) today when he was flying to both stage and GC victory, in the final time trial.
Once again, W52 remains unbeaten, although this year they were far from the strongest team - just questionable tactics from all around. However, had Moreira won, I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years we would also pretend to be shocked if the Volta was given back to Amaro Antunes. |

MM wasn't there to win the Volta, he did just enough to be true to these words!
Definitely the most weird and therefore interesting Volta of the last decade. Efapel won 6 stages, Reis alone won 4, while W52 won 0 and were in shambles to nick the overall.
As to Almeida, a legend in the making. On his way to take a 'Big Lap' in the future. Just hope his move to UAE doesn't get in the way of that goal.

Tobias Halland Johanssen is such an exciting prospect, great win in today’s first mountain top finish in Tour de l’Avenir. His twin brother Anders won yesterday’s stage, both will definitely be on the lookout for a WT contract soon. |

A shame Ayuso crashed out of the race, but an awesome last stage and GC battle in Tour de l'Avenir. |

One of the most exciting finishes to the Tour de l’Avenir I remember. Great panache from Rodríguez, Ineos got themselves a real gem there, just afraid he will succumb to their traditional pace-setting tactics when they pledge to rAcE mOrE agReSsIVeLy.
