I think your approach to offseaon will be amongst the most interesting ones to watch for the upcoming season but for reasons that you wont necessary like (but already acknowledged):
- Aging (co-)leaders that could still contribute for another season but might better be replaced to make place for some longterm valuable pieces instead.
- Preidler who is super expensive for CT and has a skill set that might not be ideal to be the one-guy-for-all-the-cap leader due to both terrible TT & terrible SP/bad Acc either (most of the times you'd need one of those to win - "even" at CT level with likely superior main stats)
- even more aging riders
- little budget due to failed goals

That foundation is strong enough that you should not have much problems to build a team that is capable of promoting back immediately if that is the main goal but priorizing building for the future might be the better strategy even if you might risk promotion to do so...

I think knockout has a good point. Also looking out to see what exactly you plan to do (and what will happen, because planning in MG is easier said than done Pfft). To renew Preidler or not to renew Preidler, that is the question.

One of the problems I have is that my top riders though productive are aging - 11 riders are aged 32 or older and are/will show signs of decline. Outside loans and stags my youngest rider is a 27 y.o. Robov - not a good sign when your youngest rider under pro-contract is over 25.

And then the age old question - what to do with Preidler? Obviously he's more suitable to punchy/mountainous one-day races (as seen in Kenya and some extent Lombardia where he finished a respectable for our level 18th). But is it worth throwing huge sum of money for a one-trick pony? And even if I re-sign him, I'd have to sell him (since it would eat a large portion of my cap unless I do some loan gymnastics), but even then can I make enough profit from him?

Our final update for the season
The 2020 MGUCI seson is now officially over for us and here're the results. Unfortunately things didn't went as we would've hoped - the team ended on 25th place with 1600 points. As you may tell, it wasn't enough to keep us afloat in the PCT division - 469 points short of the 21st place which guarantees stay in the division. This means we'll drop down a division and ends our PCT experience.

Leopold Konig was our top scoring rider, contributing with 348 points. The next big contributers were veteran sprinter Alexander Kristoff with 315 points and Georg Preidler with 304 points. Unfortunately those were our only contributors above 100 points and those three alone account for 60% of our total points tally. The remaing 40% were from Bjorn Thurau (85 points), Lorents Ola Aasvold (81 points), Ramunas Navardauskas (67 points), Hersony Canelon (66 points), Petar Panayotov (64 points), Momchil Robov (59 points), Sebastian Lander (51 points), Damion Drapac (39 points), Tom Thill (27 points), Lennard Kämna (25 points), Martin Grashev (18 points), Sergio Higuita (16 points), Jempy Drucker (14 points), Remy Rochas (7 points), Valentin Stoenchev (5 points) and Jakub Otruba (1 point).

So what's next? The team will re-brand for next season with new partner on the horizon in BWT. The first thing the re-branded team will do is the renewals - considering that in the CT division both the budget and roster spots are much lower than in PCT, the team will need to maintain roster and cap flexibilty during the transfer season. No immediate plans are made on who will stay and who not. As for the transfer season - with some teams confirming that they will not continue, the FA pool will be deep, but as per MGUCI rules no transfer talk can be done to avoid tampering.

Statement from BWT Hyundai N Cycling Gmbh
The following is a statement from BWT Hyundai N Cycling Gmbh, the team's shareholders and its board of directors regarding speculations about the team's future:

In recent days speculations were thrown by the media that ivaneurope, Chief Executive Officer of BWT Hyundai N Cycling Gmbh, was considering either withdrawing the team altogether or stepping down from managing the team. The press was pointing at different "motives" with the most prevaling were that Mr. ivaneurope was "demotivated from the appaling season and the difficulties the team will face next season". The team, represented through its shareholders (including BWT AG and Hyundai Europe Gmbh) and board of directors, condemns any attempt to undermine the team in any way, shape or form. We find these claims as false and nothing more than means of disrupting the team's harmony heading into the off-season.

We understand that the situation the team is and it's known to us that it won't be very easy. Another claim from the media was that the team was quote "miffed that 9 teams from the CT division will promote, while only 3 relagated". Again, those claims are false - while there will be 3 PCT teams going down with Aramco DP and HelloFresh (formerly Nordstrom - CA) joining alongside us, the number of "relagated teams" is actually 9. And the MGUCI have sent a memo to every team irrespective of their status on how things will procede if a team or teams become inactive. And every participating team signed it. Another text from the memo was that any abrupt withdrawal could result in harsh punishments.

With this statement we re-assure the MGUCI that the team will participate in the next season and is looking forward to the renewal and transfer seasons.

Great to see you stay on board - but not really surprising, given that you already built up your new branding during last season. I guess your team will be very different next year, with most of your riders not really on the right edge of development... Good luck, and all the best!

@redordead Everything is alright...for now until I get disappointed from my very own transfer season Grin

@Fabianski It'd have been foolish to drop everything after hyping up the re-brand, but yeah, a purge will come as this team is one of the oldest in terms of roster age.

This transfer season IMO is going to be a real bloodbath with so many teams disbanding left, right and center, 9 CT teams will get a taste of the PCT experience (which for me was shortlived Brooklyn Nets 2013-15 style Pfft) and relegated teams trying to revamp their rosters. With so mamy potential free agents from the disbanded teams alone it could go either way.
