BETONEXPRESSZ GP

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/profiles/c2hc_bex.jpg

Betonexpressz GP - Result of the season!

The first race in April was one of the four most important races for our team!
We put this race as a goal Top 10.

After a disappointing finish in Eritrea, it was time to take a breath and go on a race just 95km from the Slovenian border to Hungary.
This time it was the start of the race just next to the biggest lake in Hungary Balaton lake in the town of Keszthely or in Slovenian Blatenski Kostel.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Betonexpressz/PCM0001.jpg

Soon after the start of the race, it came to attack and the group of four riders went to a breakaway.

Our riders were in the first part of their race all hidden in a peloton waiting for a good opportunity to go into attack or just waiting for the last few kilometers for a sprint.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Betonexpressz/PCM0009.jpg

66km to the finish of the race Barbin was leading the peloton which had around a 2min gap to the breakaway.

22km to go was caught the last escaper!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Betonexpressz/PCM0012.jpg

5km to go! Our rider Ignatiev went on an attack with Quispe!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Betonexpressz/PCM0018.jpg

A couple of hundred meters laters others from the peloton went into chacing for escapers.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Betonexpressz/PCM0020.jpg

2.7km to go Ignatiev group had 37'' lead to peloton where we made a mistake and our rider Luka Pibernik started chasing the breakaway for our leader sprinter Salleh.

After all six riders came together in a breakaway Ignatiev JUMPED (attacked) again with a mind on the best result of the first third of the season!

In the last 200m Ignatiev wasn't in the best position in a front of Naesen from Bralirwa - Stevens Bikes.

After the last corner, Naesen went around Ignatiev at a bigger speed.

The winner of the race is Naesen Oliver!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Betonexpressz/PCM0024.jpg

Our Mikhail Ignatiev on amazing 2nd place which is our teams best result of the first third part of the season!!!!!!!!

Salleh managed to ad 9th place in a sprint!

It's time for a short celebration after we successfully finished our first goal of the season two riders in TOP 10!!!

See you soon on the coast of Slovenia in Izola!

GP IZOLA - SLOVENIAN ISTRIA

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/profiles/c2_gpi.png

GP Izola - did we got our win goal of the season?

GP Izola is our home race which we were waiting on the most compare to all other races. It was even our winning goal which after the first third of the season wasn't the best win goal for us.

Soon after the start went a small group of three riders into a breakaway on a climb from Izola to Baredi village.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2/Izola/04.jpg

In the last 10km it came to split in peloton luckily we had Barbin in a from with a big group of leaders and potentially most dangerous fro win Kelderman.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2/Izola/13.jpg

In the last 6km, Kelderman went into an attack and Eiking joined him in a front.
Our Barbin wasn't strong enough to go on an attack.

In the last km Kelderman and Eiking were still in front with a small gap of a few meters.

In a finish, Kelderman attacked again and won the first GP Izola or GP Slovenian Istria!

Our Barbin managed to finish in 10th place which was the result as we expected after a first few months of racing.

COPPA PLACCI

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/profiles/c2_pla.jpg

Coppa Palacci - Catastrofic race!

Our main candidates were Barbin and Venter for this race special Barbin band we really hope that it won't happen the same as it happened with the first race in the season.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2/CoppaPlacci/plac8.jpg

After the start, It came fast to the smaller breakaway where we didn't have any rider.

Around 70km to the finish Barbin and Venter were dropped from the peloton and this was the first red alarm from our team.

In the next few kilometers, there wasn't any different. Both were quickly behind the peloton and it looks like to be the same scenario from GP Yekaterinburg.

From our team wasn't any special move last kilometers as all were suffering this day.

Congrats to Gianni Moscon from Centovalli - Fiat.

LINCOLN GP

Lincoln GP- Wrong race for Thomas Geraint

Our young rider Sotber (his last season in this team joined a breakaway soon after the start.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Lincoln/PCM0003.jpg

After the first hill, a big group even extended for two riders on a total of 15 riders who had 1'42 gap over the peloton.

80 km to the finished most of the guys are already in a peloton or behind and our Sotberg too. There was a little time for commercial exposure on tv broadcast and we are happy with the work that Sotberg did at this race.

Just before entering the 9th time on Michaelgate our Abraha who is not the best on hills and sprints tried to do an attack to gain seconds which will allow him to get a better place in the finish of the race.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Lincoln/PCM0016.jpg

38km to the finish Abraha was caught from the peloton.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Lincoln/PCM0017.jpg

For the finish of the race, we didn't have any strong rider and our best one finished out of the Top 30.

The winner of the race is Alexey Tsatevich from Carrefour - ESPN.

A shame you couldn't get a better result with a very strong lineup in the home race in Izola.

LISBON CLASSIC

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/profiles/hc_lis.jpg

Lisbon classic our riders in a breakaway!

On a sunny day in Lisbon, our team had a goal to be in top10 but it wasn't one of those big goals of the season.
We knew that it would be hard but we tried to be as best as we can be.

Soon after the finished our Sotber went into the attack and Phodingam and a few seconds later Carr and second our rider Camargo join the breakaway.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Lisbon/02.jpg

Soon another rider joined the breakaway.
65km to the end which was the highest point of the race breakaway had two minutes gap to the peloton but it started closing fast because of attacks from the peloton.

Many riders were left behind and even all from our team ( Barbin, Korošec, and Modolo).

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Lisbon/07.jpg

In the last 30km, we had two riders Sotberg and Camargo still in a breakaway but the peloton came to only a 34-second gap to breakaway.

IN a peloton it was only 18 of the best riders and non of our team but three from the Swisslion team which was another Slovenian team on this race.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Lisbon/12.jpg

Soon all riders from breakaway were back in a peloton and we got information that one of our leaders was in the second group.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Lisbon/13.jpg

Around 10km to finish small group from the second group managed to catch the peloton but still non of our three leaders were there which was a bit disappointing for us.

Apparently, our riders started to chat with our sports director about food that bananas are not the best and they are already thinking to switch to another power food for the next races. We will still use this product as is one of the best natural products for sport but we will and some extra gels and other drinks for riders.

When the riders joined the peloton it came to the attack in a front of the peloton by Vanspeybrouck and Meyer.

7km to finish Modolo was in chance with a couple of other riders to catch the peloton who was basically in lost position for the win as they were 1'30'' behind the leader Meyer.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Lisbon/20.jpg

5 km to the finish we still had young Sotberg and Camargo in a peloton which was really positive news for the team!

In front, Travis Meyer came to catch a win in Portugal's capital city Lisbon!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Lisbon/29.jpg

In the end, Sotberg and Camargo were to empty from the breakaway and they finished out of the top 20.

Thanks to Marcovdw for commentating on the race.

Yeah, it's really a pity and shame for our team that they couldn't perform much better on home roads with this team. I hope the next goal race will be because of this much better. Smile

1 JOUR DE DUNKERQUE

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/profiles/c2_dun.jpg

The first race of important month May for our team!

Historique city of Dunkirk hosted another battle bat this time much nicer between riders in CT and PCT teams.

On the start list, it was only 10 teams with 75 riders but this didn't mean that the race will be easy.

It started with the attack of our Luka Pibernik, Doull, and Planckaert. A couple of mins later joined him another rider from our team Rok Korošec and Bablidze, Barbier, Kamberaj, and Oss.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2/Dunkerque/PCM0002.jpg

A few km later another young rider joins the breakaway where are now 9 riders and three teams Guave's, Carrefour, and our Trans Team are the team with two riders in a front group with 20km in a race!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2/Dunkerque/PCM0005.jpg

125km to go breakaway with Pibernik and Korošec from our team is having 2'09 lead on the peloton after the first few climbs and cobbled sections.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2/Dunkerque/PCM0006.jpg

In a peloton, Barbin is losing connection with them which is a bit disappointing news for us.

The nine-man breakaway group is still having 3'26'' gap to the peloton with only 70km to the finish line! In a peloton is only 46 the strongest riders.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2/Dunkerque/PCM0008.jpg

30km to go Oss is in the lead behind is a five man-group with Rok Korošec.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2/Dunkerque/PCM0016.jpg

24km to the finish all riders are in a peloton.

There is a strong group of main favourites for the win in this race.

In last few km Jerome Baugnies was the strongest one and took the win at this race!

I have a Top 5 Goal for Frankfurt Eschborn that I'm not very confident in as well Grin I'll be seeing you at the Tour du Faso and Malopolski Wyscig, too. They should suit Abraha and Thomas much better than 1 Jour de Dunkerque, could be some nice battles!

Frankfurt Eschborn was defenetly a mistake for me hahaha as I know now that my Barbin is really not good on but I think you can have a big shot here with Oliver Naesen can be always dangerous in sprint if there won't win a break with Kelderman Grin

1 Jour de Dunkerque was my unexperienced for this game haha but yeah Tour du Faso and Malopolski Wyscig could be interesting for both of us if Nemolito won't take all the points with his Baugnies haha

1. Stage of Tour de Romandie

Another stage C1 race where we sent most of our young riders to get more experiences for next season.
Time trials and the general wasn't our goals this why we knew that we knew we wouldn't be close to others.

Just before the finish ''climb'' our team was battling for 15th place as they were four sec in a front of Sotto team but they lost all and finished on last place 3 sec behind the Sotto team and 1'33'' behind of winning team Duolingo.

Second stage and the last one were one of our main goals to be in Top 5 at Tour de Romandie.

Soon after Neuman & Marchewka went to attack and form the breakaway our Sotber went to chase and join them even that he struggled on first climb.

Our Sotber was caught before 5km to finish line as he returned to peloton where was Luka Mezgec.
3km to finish breakaway was caught and in a peloton our Luka Pibernik was leading it for Mezgec.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Romandie/S2/12.jpg

In last km Luka Pibernik finished with his long leadout for Luka Mezgec where he started his own and long sprint into technical finish!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Romandie/S2/13.jpg

44km to go Breakaway lost a small amount of minutes to the peloton but they still have a big lead and behind there are around 4 extra groups.

TOUR DE ROMANDIE

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Romandie/S5/profile.jpg

5. stage, Tour de Romandie
First ITT and the second TT stage where we didn't expect anything special as we didn't send any TT specialist on this race.

Our best rider on this stage was Jonathan Camargoon 42. place with + 2'06 gap to winner Ryan Eastman.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Romandie/S6/profile.jpg

6. stage, Tour de Romandie - Celebration
The last stage was important for Hardy to keep the first place at the KOM competition and the stage competition for Luka Mezgec as it was the flat stage.

Neuman was first to attack from the start line and Goldstein Maccagli and Thill joined him in a breakaway.

Hardy was in a front of the peloton from the start if Dall'Oste would attack and go for extra KOM points.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Romandie/S6/01.jpg

After the two KOM finishes it was all over for KOM classification and Hardy was the winner of this classification!

media.giphy.com/media/Qe4dJ4C1hbtO5Z5qD9/giphy.gif

We didn't have any rider in a breakaway as Mezgec was our biggest candidate for this stage and he was safely hidden in a peloton for a finish.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Romandie/S6/13.jpg

At the start of the last km, he was a bit locked and behind the best sprinters.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Romandie/S6/14.jpg

Luka managed to come closer to the leader sprinters around 300m to finish.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Romandie/S6/16.jpg

In the end, he was a bit short for a win and top 5 but still, he finished in 7 places!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Romandie/S6/17.jpg

The winner of the last or 6th stage is Damion Drapac. Luka Mezgec was at the end in 7th place!

Congrats on a very successful Tour de Romandie, especially your first win! Very cool to check that off the list and in such a high profile race (for CT teams) as well.

Nemolito
Congratz on a great Romandie indeed. Perfect gif for Mezgec' win Grin

The KoM as an extra is definitely nice as well, both of those hopefully bringing you back in contention for a top-10 on the rankings Smile
