A kind reminder to take 2nd in Riga - Jurmala GP, for the Plan to go into fruition it's required for big **** Oscar to take the win

redordead - It's going to happen now, is it? Pfft
I'd say it should be a solid month for us with three nice races and two races without a lot of expectations. But some of the good teams dont have the best cobble setups so the March ranking update might indeed look good for us

quadsas - Not sure how Riesebeek is key for the plan? Surely Dzamastagic, Stoltz or Van Stayen are better bets for the victory? Anyway, a 1-2 would obviously be nice Wink

I tend to agree. Marzuki is so cool because he can be a good domestique or a nice attacker on every other terrain but these sort of cobbled races with lots of elevation is where he should shine the most and potentially score himself too. I really hope that him and my other versatile cobbler wont be sacrifized and drop back to protect a dropped Blythe in Italy. ( Even considered leaving Blythe at home for a brief moment. ) Then Marzuki might repeat his performance from last year. Fingers crossed.

There is the potential for that but with Team Bewley so close and there is still a sizable gap to Festina so im not overly optimistic about that Wink

Blythe has been good on the cobbles this year for sure Smile

We meet at Amstel, so hopefully I don't end up stealing any points there Pfft

Unless we pick up a huge Praha race you will lead the rankings after this month. It will be interesting if we can give you a bit of fight in the month of may, although I don't really expect it.

You are quite superior to us in the Paris-Roubaix, so we have to find a way to get back that ~200-250 points gap elsewhere. It won't be in Amstel where Skujins > Koretzky, and Liechtenstein probably won't give that many points. So the Giro it is...

And I suspect you are stronger than me there, despite me having a pretty similar setup Smile

Francesco Bongiorno
Giacomo Nizzolo
Aidan van Niekerk
Charalampas Kastrantas
Nikolaos Ioannidis
Riccardo Zoidl
Michail Mavrikakis
Ioannis Spanopoulos

You have the upperhand in terms of MO/HI, while I have some better TT depth and the better puncheur. Could be a cool battle - but obviously having a GT in the mix could scramble the both of us away from the very top Smile

Good luck mate!

redordead - For sure. He started the season much better than last year. But his support is stealing the show a bit. Its impressive how many top 30 results the cobble support has already racked up.
See ya in Amstel Smile

SotD - i mostly agree with that analysis but you're really quickly in moving past Liechtenstein. Praha could well be good enough to match my lead as you have a good GC contender and another possible stage winner on multiple stages. Maybe you could earn a hefty chunk of points back there too Pfft

The Giro lineup is where it gets interesting. Success from breaks can be quite lucky / streaky and it could go either way. Nevertheless i think Chiarello+Vosekalns are slightly stronger than Bongiorno+Zoidl. Eislers vs Nizzolo could be close too. I rate the chances that Eislers will do better due to better climbing and flat abilities but he is completely unproven and has a big acceleration weakness too. Its entirely possible that Nizzolo will score more in the first week while Eislers has to catch up later (if there are later mass sprints for the stage wins). Aidan should be stronger than whatever the AI will do with my team on the hills and in this thread we dont talk about that other terrain. So rather similar with minor advantages for me sounds about right.

Lecuisinier is very much alone in Liechtenstein, and he seems to be around 4-5th in those races this season and that would see us score 140-150 + 35 points if all finishes (which they don't). I need to get atleast 2nd to take back what I will lack in Paris-Roubaix Smile

I agree with you in Giro. Chiarello and Vosekalns is definately better than Bongiorno and Zoidl/Ioannidis (The latter have been the better of them this season). I also agree with the sprinter setup. I basically brought my Italians for RP reasons Smile Bongiorno and Nizzolo sounds like someone who could overperform Grin

I put all my faith in Kastrantas and van Niekerk. Between them they scored 400-500 points from Grand Tours last season. If they can somehow find a way to replicate the KOM hunts and the occassional stage result it could be a very good race for us. But that's up to chance. And on paper I fancy your team - as you say.

Congrats on the 1st place btw Smile

I think Lecuisinier has a higher chance of finishing on the podium in Liechtenstein than Blythe in Roubaix and i wont have too many finishers in Liechtenstein either. But i see where you are coming from Wink

thanks! I completely agree - the last couple of races all went well. But it will be crucial to stay on track during all those mountainous races and particularly the GTs. Despite our investments we can still lose lots of points on other possible contenders there and we need to minimize those while continuing to gain elsewhere.
