Tour De France 2020

Great move by SKA and a very exciting final few kilometers (as well first half of the stage), although some of the road furniture on those corners in the finale was insane.

Always nice to see these kinds of stages when you expect a normal sprint.

Sunweb has to be the most attractive team this Tour, great attacking plans.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I am not concerned about Roglic's nor Pogacar's development, I am concerned about the numbers that they put out and in the matter of Roglic that he doesn't seem to show any sign of pain. Will see how it is on Grand Colombier but breaking records from.the dark past always rings my alarm bells, it is the still one of the few indicators that we have.
So I see no issue when we say someone is shady, especially when there have been rumours about this country, and two slovenians were suspended for it last year. Is guilt by association cool? No, but why should we just believe anything we see? Its not that by the end of the day our opinion makes a difference here.

I think that the difference between the teams you listed and former Rabobank is pretty clear that it was proven that they had systematic doping in place afair. That was only similiar to Astana / Once.

@Ollfardh: Incredible talent that would be on top either way like Sagan or Valv but UAE is former Lampre and as I said, breaking records, slovenian suspensions and outclimbing everyone doesnt get you off such a list of suspicion.

Koren and Bozic were suspended for their time at Liquigas and Astana, both were teammates with Nibali for three years in that period and then they were also together at Bahrain. This seems more suspicious then judging based on nationality. And I am not pointing out at Nibali, but Koren has better relationship with him than Roglic or Pogacar.

Cool, why don't you mention that Berzen was Roglic former coach and Slovenian cycling was under UCI investigation during Op Aderlass?

All nations have faced scrutiny when they were on top. Spain, Italy, USA, Britain, Colombia. But the grand cycling nation of Slovenia with 2mn people is beyond suspicion. Suuure. Wink

As for Alex, dont have the inspiration to answer such a long text full of rhetorical questions lol

Wernt they blasted for leaving Bling at home? Its odd how riders are not happy at Sumweb yet always bring their best performances there

Maybe leaving Bling and an obvious leader (Keldermann) at home benefited the team. Actually no regrets now, maybe with them in the team they couldn’t have achieved what they did with such aggressive riding. Hirschi and SKA a joy to watch, shame Benoot is not at its usual level because he could have done something great here. Maybe still on time, let’s see how he improves, did seem better today.

Kelderman as leader in a Grand Tour is basically playing russian roulette 21 times.

Sunweb had the career best GT performances of Dumoulin, Barguil and Kelderman.
Barguil was one of the best climbers in Tour '17. Kelderman finished 4th in Vuelta '17. Dumoulin won Giro in '17 and finished 2nd in both Giro and Tour in 2018. Barguil has not even come close to his 2017 TDF performance at Arkea for instance. Sunweb 2017-2018 was very suspcicious imo. I thought they would be the team to overthrow Sky from the GT kingdom.

Kittel and Degenkolb were also one their highest level at Sunweb imho. Degenkolb won MSR and PR and now is an also-ran sadly. Kittel dominated sprints, and retired way too early.

Indeed, Barguil should have stayed with them. He was amazing and very exciting at Sunweb.

Perform super strong on a team and then fade away on others, sounds like classic systemic doping

True. Degenkolb especially, given that I've read somewhere else that he insists that the drop in his form does not have anything to do with the car crash in 2016.

Kittel was great at Quick Step as well even though maybe not as good as he was in Sunweb. He was also unlucky to crash out of Tour '17 when he was contesting for green jersey. But he massively dropped off at Katusha and retired.

I also think Barguil should have stayed. Back in 2017 there was no room for Barguil due to Dumoulin and Kelderman but now they do not have a proper GC contender.

That's why I said very suspicious. Pfft
It looks like Jumbo has taken a massive step as a team and UAE are the closest with Pogacar, although his supporting cast looks pretty bad, apart from Formolo who got injured and abandoned ( Gianetti&Matxin back in form it seems )
Sky don't look like they have an answer so far. Though Grand Colombier, Loze and Glieres will show us more.

That is list of quite stupid conclusions.

Everything with Dagenkolb start and ends with that same crash.
Sunweb mayor issue seems to pressure for star rider to get results.
There was enough room for Barguil, but after successful tour that guy just flipped.

Kittel was amazing at Quick step, Lefevre used him well. Then he did not wanted to complete with Gaviria and was out of the team. Into team that had strategy: Lets meet next month at airport and go to the race. No wondering that Kittel failed there, look at iron man Tony Martin..even he failed on that team.
Look at Jumbo guys Martin and Dumoulin (not on he's peak form yet) now

Ah, forgot that he is going to Sunweb next year. His peformance level should be interesting to see.

I read on another forum that Degenkolb denies that the crash has anything to do with his drop in form. But maybe he is wrong and it is due to the crash.

Kittel was excellent at 2017 TDF but he was beaten a bit too much by Cavendish at 2016 TDF but he was great at Quick Step overall as I said in my previous post as well. And yes, Katusha was awful in 2018 and 2019, the whole team actually, apart from Politt.
Well, Barguil probably wanted to ride the Tour for GC but they had Dumoulin.

Suspicions aside I can't unsee Armstrong whenever Roglic is riding. The pedalling pattern, the composure, the poker face. I hope he is less of a wanker than Neilstrung though.

Also the best climber and Top 2 time trialist in the world. But at least not tour obsessed like Lance.

Grenadiers are blown to bits. Their best lieutenants struggling while Jumbo's sprinter leads the main group. How did it come to this?

A most peculiar question. Wink

Gogl in the lead group but unlikely the ideal day for him to get the stage win. Also nice to see how active Herrada is in this Tour. A stage win for Cofidis would be very cool.
