Hello All,
Recently purchased the game and I'm finding it fascinating. Thought I'd kick off by doing a Pro Cyclist career and although not very far in, I'm finding it brilliant.
I'm aiming to be an eventual GC contender down the line and Climber/ TT are my preferred areas of expertise. I have been regularly hitting the objectives set out by the team, which appear to be sitting in the breakaway for as long as possible.
I noticed the last one however asked me to sit in the breakaway for as long as possible but finish in the top 50 on the Mountain finish. I found it utterly impossible. I could not get in the break away, so I thought I'd sit in and make a dash to finish decent at the mountain top finish, top 50 should have been relatively easy. Again I found it impossible. By the time we made our away to the foot of the mountain, my energy was draining, my team were all over the shop (not sure if I need to be controlling them or if I can?) and it resulted in my basically pushing the bike up the hill and coming in 72nd. haha.
Incredibly frustrated but other than patience, does anyone have any tips for me on conserving energy in the right places when I want to get a decent Mountain finish?
May well be nothing I've done wrong just a shambles of a day in the saddle but comments welcome.
Thanks

When I sit in the peloton and are "waiting" for the mountain finish, i usually ride on "dot" and between 5 - 65 ind percentage, depending on the speed on the peloton.
This ensures my rider, so restitue better on harder stages, and conserve energy.
I made the mistake previous years, of lying in the front all the time, and that is not always a good idea.
- I would actually like to know, if people always choose the pro cyclist to have the highest possible potential?
I always do that, but i am tired of my rider having for an example, 80 in mountain in the first few months of second season.
Do anybody know what to do about that, and how it works to choose the lowest potential? Does he evolve to be nearly as good, just at a slower rate or what happens? |

When starting a Pro Cyclist, your RES, REC and STA stats are really low. Raise them ASAP if you want to have a chance to keep energy for the end of the races, or for the next day race. I found these stats usually overlooked but they make a big difference at the begining of a career where all you can do is try to go in breakaways. If you can control a teammate, let him do the job for you. Having a "protector" saves a lot of energy as well. And as s-niller said, you don't need to stay in front all the time, hide in the peleton, with experience you will know when to move to the front to avoid breaks - check the wind as well.
Regarding potential, I think it is important in Pro Cyclist you try to create a good "story". I was tired as well to be top climber after 2 seasons so I lowered the potential and tried to focus on winning every single mountain jersey I could. Lose a lot of time on purpose in the first stages of the tours and attack, attack, attack! - I found that when you are more than 20 minutes behind the leader AI lets you go in the breakaway easily. You can loose this time in one TT stage, even the prologue, as there is no time limit in game for these stages. Lot more fun than staying in the peloton until the last 5 KM with my previous GC contenders and did really well with "only" 78 in mountains and hills at max. Didn't win a single race, but lots of stages and lots of jerseys! |

I agree about making a "story" for your rider.
I would just like to know, if you take the lowest potential for your rider, if you get the same stats as a world class rider, and it just takes longer time to build the rider up or if the stats will be lower. And if so, how low are we talking?
It could be nice if you could choose the stats to improve seperately. As Silkerin said, I would love to improve my riders RES REC and STA, also FLAT first.
I hate the fact that my rider for an example has around 60-68 in those REC stats, and a blassing 78 in MOUNTAIN and HILL. Just doesnt make sense and kills my excitement for the game. |

If you have no problem with that, use an Editor to have more control over your stats progression. That's what I do as I find the in-game progression really unbalanced in Pro Cyclist.
And to answer your question, I just checked and even using the lowest potential at the character creation, I still had 84 potential in mountain and hills, with over 80 in STA, REC and RES as well. So I think this settings just does not do anything and the editor is your best bet to manage your progression. |

I'm not so crazy about using an editor, that is not at part of the official game, if you understand.
However I feel that it might be my only possibility.
How does it work excactly and which editor do you use? |

I use PCM Fast Editor, you can download it from PCM daily https://pcmdaily....?did=1109.
Find your save file - usually in C:\Users\Utilisateur\Documents\Pro Cycling Manager 2020\Cloud\Name and open the .cdb file with the Editor. You have then access to the DYN_cyclist table where you can modify your all current and potential stats - and much more. |

I can change all stats for any regular cyclists, but for mine it's not working (( |

Strange, I never had this problem. Do you modify the values in DYN_cyclists? |

I have the same issue, DYN_cyclists does not exists, only DYN_procyclist_charac_history. But when I change it the values there it does not update in game. For example I put 70 for sprint, save, load game and still got sprint 65. Only Exp edit works for me |

I reached final level and my average is just 76. I wonder if there is a way to reach average 80 and beyond.
I took World Champion, stage winner/climber und increased my potential two times (sprint). Is there a secret to make it better? |
