The stage starts in Niğde. May have been a village at the site earlier, but the development of Niğde started with refugees from the ancient city Tyana located about 20 km to the south, when the city was sacked by Arabs in 708. The town grew fast and became one of the largest cities in what is now Turkey at the early 13th century. Today Niğde is province capital with an urban population is about 120.000

Kayseri (S): The last sprint will be in province capital Kayseri, a large industrialized city in the center of Turkey. Since ancient times the city have been on the crossroads of the trade routes between Greece (Rome) and Persia (Far East), The Black Sea and The Middle East, known in ancient Greek as Μάζακα (Mazaca), shifting rulers have changes the name, but it was the Roman “Caesarea” (upon Caesar Augustus death in 14AD) that gave the city its current name. Arabs pronunciation as Kaisariyah, and the Turks Kayseri.
Today a city with a population of around 1.4 million people.

Very interesting variant so far for a race that is often overlooked by stagemakers. Any future projects once you're done with this one?

Keep up the good work!

Tamijo
Thanks.

No haven't got any other race in the pipeline, in this case just noticed that being a top PT race not many variants at least on my system.

Might actually do another Germany as there is also quite few.

We start there we finished yesterday in Kaman, form there heading northwest for Ankara, with a hilly finish on a circuit including several large universities located south west of Ankara city center. The route semi hard, expected to end in a reduced uphill sprint between a mix of climbers and punchers.

The earliest settlement of Ankara belonged to the bronze age Hattian civilization around 3000 BC. This small settlement grew significantly under Phrygian rule around 800 BC, the city further expanded by Greek’s around 300 BC, who had colonized what is now Turkeys Black Sea Region, and turned it into a trade center between the black sea ports and routes to the east and south with connection to Assyria, Cyprus, Lebanon, Armenia and Persia. Today Ankara is the capital of Turkey, with a province population of about 5.5 million people

Gölbaşı (S): Gölbaşı is located about 20 km south of Ankara center, although settlements existed in what is now Gölbaşı district in the bronze age, the current town was just a tiny village and a part of Örencik located 4 km south east. The development of Gölbaşı mainly happened during the 1900’s. Today it is a city with an urban population of about 110.000 and part of Ankara Metropolitan area.

Will you stick with 6 stages only? The race was supposed to have 8 stages again after dropping its WT status.

Let's save the history of PCM together!

Just write me a PM if you have something for old PCM Editions (from 2005 to 2014) - databases, stages, shirts etc. and we'll share it.

That was the plan as it is supposed to be for PCM18, but as you mention might make another two additional for PCM2020 users, don't expect them to come right now.

Just checked and it is also 6 stages in PCM 2020 , so unless it has been changed in the PCM-daily expansion. I see no reason to make additional stages at this point.

The version of Grand Prix Herning I have got in my stages folder (PCM2020) turned out to be a race held near Hirtshals (costal) some 200 km north of where GP Herning is races (indland)

Here is the correct 2020 version (original route but not races due to the virus)
