PCM.daily Stat Discussion

i.imgur.com/Gs3Jcb4.png

Welcome to the new thread where you can discuss the stats for the PCM.daily Projects for PCM 19.

Everything written down here will be considered for the next releases of our projects.

Keep in mind that top stats are the most noticeable stats, but those are most often a matter of opinion. I advice people to change some of those stats to their own likings if you don't agree to the stats in our projects.

For us it'd be much more useful to especially discuss stats about smaller riders, those are often easier to miss.

Rules

Yes, we know stat discussions, like politics and religion discussions, often show the worst side of people. Therefore, we've decided to set some simple rules so things won't get out of hand in this thread.

1. If you comment on someone's post, comment on the contents of the post, not on the person!
2. Don't make fun of suggestions of other members. Everyone can post their suggestions. It's up to our statmakers to decide what to do with them.
3. Keep your posts strictly on-topic.

Any posts that violate these rules will be deleted immediately and without notification. Consistent violation of the rules could result in suspension or even a ban.

Eli Yserbyt with a very strong cyclocross season, I'd up his ACC and energy stats.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Can you upload only the database, please?

I'm still waiting for the first PCM DB to get Nikodemus Holler's birth date right, and I'm not talking about a few days or a month.
And I'm rather curious where that originated.

Holler was born May 4th 1991. Not in December of 1994.

A very general question here for forum members playing the PCM Daily DB and for the first update when it comes there is the Froome question.

We currently have both Bernal and Froome as the two best climbers with 82 mtn and Bernal demonstrated his 82 in the Tour. But not sure what to do about Froome because as things stand if both selected for races Froome would be leader due to his other stats like TT etc. Now normally when a rider has had a very lengthy injury or a severe crash like Froome we normally drop them a bit until they can demonstrate a return to the previous level BUT this kind of got overlooked for the current DB release. So the simple question is should we keep Froome at 82 mtn until we see how he goes or drop him to say 81 mtn for the first update?

I say drop him to 81 until he performs again. He's getting older and hasn't raced on a high level for a long time.

On another note, I know that Vlasov is a big talent, but isn't 77 MO way too much for a world tour debutant?

I'd drop Froome as well. Even if we ignore his 2019 season due to the obvious reasons, was he really that good in 2018?

Vlasov was in the Top5 best and most consistent climbers/stage racers in PCT last year, which in combination with a very average back-ups makes him a 76.8 kind of rider. Astana paid to buy him out of his 2020 Gazprom contract. He's also rumoured to have a free role at the Giro. I think 77 Mountain should be a good assessment atm.

Still it seems very high to me. Perhaps i just need to readjust to Daily's stat matrix again after using the WorldDB for a while, which uses a wider stat matrix and has bigger differences between the good and the best riders.

I agree with his 77 in mountain

So far most opinion here and with the DB team seems to be having Froome on 81 mtn, so unless there are strong arguments against this he will go to 81.

Purepasd: The wider stat matrix with our DB exists as well but it tends to be done in a more subtle manner. For example a rider may have high climbing stats which could seem high but this is then balanced out by things like low flat, low res and other stuff etc so what may seem to be a higher than expected stat rider might not necessarily be so on further investigation. For example try looking at some PCT or inconsistent sprinters in general and you will see that despite having a good sprint and acc stats might be very lightweight in things like flat and res which means in a tougher field they will have trouble to even contest the sprint.

Over the last seasons we have had a number of younger high prospect climbers that appeared to have higher climbing stats than some people would expect but nearly all have justified this and even went up as well within a short period of time. If for example Vlasov is too high as the season plays out then we can drop him as this is the benefit of having regular bug fix and stat updates.

Magnus Sheffield, the NY native, is in the DB as a Colombian.

That's probably due to a confusion with Eastern Colombia being shortened to just Eastern in the editor, which would be correct if it referred to Eastern United States of course.

hunterkiller
same with Eric Voigt, in the DB as Colombian

yeah that's on me, while adding the latest riders I mixed up the two regions from Colombia and the US...will check for more...

When I choose the custom sort by countries, before Abania, the first country, several blank countries appear, surprinsingly, with riders.

Well noted and will give him a few points more sprint and acc. Will keep an eye on him over the coming races that he's in as well.
