Great climbing by Craddock and Mc Convey, pity they lost so much on first mountain day when Brandt did ok.
Target here was KOM , Roche was in the Breakaway but lost out on the points |

Disappointed to see so few Azteca riders near the front, but Mannion continues to do a fine job to keep us relevant in this race.

Well, Manfredi definitely should beat folks like Craddock and Mc Convey. And Signorini does everything to avoid a contract extension. Great show.

Well that was a balls up of a sprint.
Moser in 15th is nothing less than atrocious and not sure how I feel about very one-dimensional sprinters doing well on a stage which wasn't pan flat.
Very much hope that Moser, and the team which was terrible today, get their act together on the final stage in order to get back into the Points jersey.

Guillen vs Thorsen for a stage win, who would've thought we'd ever get to see that again!
Interesting mountain stages, quite peculiar that the theoretically easier second one saw the race leader struggle that much.
The flat stuff makes it hard to judge whether I was right to forgo a sprint train setup for this version and hope Demare gets the outsider treatment as the stage 4 sprint would suggest, with the latest one surely making a convincing argument for them again.

Agreed would have expected tougher sprinters to thrive on this stage. Of course Weiss sprinting for third, after being in the break is a vote for all around stats. Reading it I thought there must be another Weiss in the field.
Awesome stuff from Ethan, clearly deserves the non-existent most aggressive rider award.

Quite a relief to see that our train may actually work out well some times. Guillén with a big win, and just 3 points behind Keough in the points standings. I really don't know what was different today than on stage 4. Stocker and Cissé again doing great work, and this time the result is what we hoped for. Well, I saw it with my own eyes in Qatar that a sprinter could win one stage and be far off target the next day, so PCM 18 really seems to be quite unpredictible when it comes to sprints. (OK, Guillén is unpredictible on his own, I have to admit). The first win obviously is great news for us in an otherwise mediocre race.
And thanks for the report. Obviously a great read today

2 Stage Wins, a day in yellow and 2 riders in top 20, 4 in top 30 makes that a good tour for Glanbia.
Had targeted KOM but that was always going to be tough |

The inability of the peloton to catch the breakaway is becoming rather concerning but we'll see if it becomes a common theme this season, maybe just in the CT due to the lack of strength and depth in many teams.
Besides that, 5th isn't the worst result from Moser in that final stage. Obviously losing the Points classification and slipping to 3rd is disappointing but it's a promising sign for the rest of the season, especially the stage win.
Nibali 5th in the GC, along with a stage win, is a great result from him and also gives me hope for the season ahead.
Borisavljevic 11th in the GC and a comfortable U25 classification win is good to see.
The Team finishing 2nd also brings in a few points which indicates the depth that we had here, despite our roster here not specifically focusing on the GC.
In the end, our PPRD here is massive so we can't complain! Congrats to all those who have left happy and thanks for the awesome reports!

Faiers so far the big surprise of the season for me.
The 2nd big race already and probably more points scored by now than anyone had expected all season.
Nibali with a late post-prime moment, which adds to his palmares nicely. That said, he had some tough years of struggle due to his low acc, so this race here was a nice change for him.
Pinot just like in Tachira not bad but neither as strong as expected. Surely not the most ideal start into the season seeing the amount of mountain stages he already has without a stage win.
Sprint wise a very close race here with Keough being the lucky one in the end to get the point jersey while most sprinters had 1 day off it seems. Unfortunately Krieger had 2 days off after being that consistent before the last 2 sprint stages.
Thanks for the reports and congrats to all those, that feel to have succeeded here. |
