[PT] Race Planners 2019
Ollfardh
Lots of hours here as well, but I guess if you plan ahead and check the calendar before applying to races that would help a lot. PCT is also from GT to C2, so the chances of a hard series of clashes is a lot bigger. I did solve the hardest one already (6), but the others will still take some time.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

If you’re taking longer than 2 weeks then I’m sorry but only exceptional circumstances are understandable. Even if you do put a lot of hours towards it then a couple hours here and then would have you done by now. And if you know you’re busy and you don’t have as much time then just do it a little quicker... If it’s starting to hold up progress then people need to get a move on!
I understand the argument that it’s a long season so it requires a lot of planning but are you not planning your riders and races before and during the transfer season?

Im Sorry it was never my meaning of starting some kind of competitions about who have taken most hours in to their planning.

I May have understand quadsas statement wrong. I meant it should been doable to make your planner in more then two weeks whatever many hours you need.

Of course it's doable. And I think if it had been communicated that planners have to be submitted by 2-3 weeks after transfers, it would have been done. If you know the deadline beforehand, you will (probably) find enough time - and you'll take decisions.
I mean, it's the same thing we had for renewals and goals; as long as there's no hard deadline, you can find reasons for waiting and delaying decisions. However, as far as I've understood, it seems to have worked well like that in previous seasons, so we might ask why things seem to take longer this time.

Obviously, even with deadlines, there can always be what LLS calls "exceptional circumstances", which are perfectly understandable. And I believe no-one is delaying the game on purpose.

I was basically taking shots at people who take unreasonably long time to do a pretty simple task without a legitimate reason.

Don't forget how long renewals etc. took.

Agreed on this one. If there were a hard deadline tomorrow, I believe the vast majority would be in right now. I think going into next season, we really need to enforce those more, with shame lists at the very least. That goes for pretty much everything we have to submit.

Obviously I understand why we're hesitant - everybody has a different schedule, and sometimes we don't know how long behind the scenes stuff is going to take anyway. But I think making a deadline, even a long term one, would make it so people plan their time with this in mind rather than just putting it off. If there are extenuating circumstances, those can be communicated to those in charge and sorted out still. But a deadline keeps everything together and on track.

I agree with hard deadlines, I'm currently finishing the planner in between work stuff. If you tell me the deadline is tomorrow, I would do less work and more MG Pfft

Likely have most time on Wednesday or Thursday. So would be very appreciated if all managers have send them in by then!

Agree with more hard deadlines.

But to be honest, the above sentence pretty much was seen as clear deadline.

Great, now you just need to set some punishments Pfft

Of course, it's still a game, and this should mainly be about having fun and certainly no stress. So the worst thing would be to come up with unrealistic deadlines and arbitrary punishments. I don't think this will ever happen.

However, maybe next season the deadlines for deciding on OR goals and submitting planners could be communicated at the same time as the Transfers Timeline (e.g. 1 week after transfers for OR goals, 3 weeks for planners).

OK, it's my first year, so I'm excited to see racing start as soon as possible; maybe I'm exaggerating a bit. I can understand, however, that there are much more sophisticated planning strategies than mine, and that they take time. So I certainly don't want to annoy people by proposing deadlines.
But I can see as well that the transfers took place two months later than last year. If this should be the same for one or two more years, we might really be good for skipping a season.
Last year, the first race reports came out roughly 3 weeks after transfers; this year, we'd start racing next week if we wanted to match this pace. However, we all know that we're switching to PCM 18, which may take more time to get everything in place than "just" starting a new season with the same game. I don't know how the planning of MGUCI looks like, but I don't expect the first races to be done before the beginning of November. Looking forward to it, though Smile

Will finally have the opportunity to work on it all day tomorrow.

I dont think a list of shame does much to those that usually are late because its probably not hard to guess some of the missing planners anyway. Its just frustrating for those that dont want to see cios name on it for the 8th year in a row Pfft

The important thing to speed things up is to indicate when you want to have all planners in. If i know that cio (sorry mate, you're just the most obvious example) will need another 10 days i dont want to submit my planner yet but i want to continue optimizing it - even when that only comes down to swapping two GTs that Belgasem and Sakalou ride because i rather have that slightly stronger climber in the other GT or replacing De Bondt with Becis / Stoltz / Smirnovs as 8th best cobbler in a cobbled race. ( to clarify: general examples, not the only changes i did over the weekend this year)

This year i couldnt have finished my planner much earlier because it took until the very end of transfers to confirm which leaders id have with a week long vacation immediately afterwards. Ive started working on the planner when i returned but it was really difficult to find a solution for my rather similar leader types this year that i would be somewhat happy with. i probably could have finished by saturday but it was indicated that we have to wait for others anyway so i took the extra days to work out a planner that im much more confident to upload tomorrow after i have checked it once more.

Doesnt need to be a hard deadline or even punishments (lets not turn this into EPIC please) but just the strong indication when you want all planners in, is usually enough to get those final planners in. Which roturn did yesterday so i expect most missing managers to send theirs in soonish
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

As we're now about to enter 2019 properly, can we please just start throwing down hard deadlines for all the major tasks? Clear deadlines, and a clear idea of what the punishment for being late will be!
Some people will always take the absoute most amount of time possible, and as we already have had this off-season, this just leads to hold ups.

If anyone is away for a significant portion of a period (i.e. they've been away a week since transfers) they can get a personal extension, or some help from one of the many managers who do have time. There's always a way around these problems.

In terms of PT i really struggle to see why it takes so long. Races are known now for something like a month+, and every PT manager knows at least some riders for about that same period of time and can start putting those plans together. PCT/CT have a bigger excuse, not getting their full calendar until near the end of transfers, and for CT either not having a team at all pre-transfers and waiting until the draft to have their full squad.
I hope none of the Amateur team managers are causing delays, giving up time for an extra at the expense of a core task...

Incredible 8 PT managers still not having sent their planners!

1 of those did with a small issue, which is easy to fix, but the amount is simply too high really.

Please do send it in very fast as otherwise you risk to miss out on January races!

8 teams. Oh right. What a letdown.

The following PT managers please upload their planners as soon as possible and PM to Mangame-Admin!
DB editing is about to be finished, so racing could start anytime soon.

In case you did already send in your planner, the PM might have been missing or overseen. So please do so again!

Air France - KLM
Fablok - Bank BGZ
Farfetch Pro Cycling
Gazelle
Isostar - LimeBike
Moser - Sygic
SPAR - Siam Cement
Team Puma - SAP

A mix of illness and being busy has kept me away from doing the planner. Gonna sit down and do it now. Sorry for the hold up

Just 15 minutes of double checking left.

Am I right that 5 of does managers also has an Amateur Team?
It is not something personal against those managers but I dont get have you take on another team when you dont seem to fix the first...

As TMM wrote earlier was my thought aswell a few days ago.....

Mine is done but I've been away so wasn't able to PM - I mentioned to roturn on Skype it was ready, but only got back home now to do things properly.
