CT Draft Discussion [8pm BST]
ManGame-Admin
Angolan National Champion Manuel Betilson was released by Porto - Prio following their relegation, in a season in which he almost snagged a Tour of Qatar stage win: 2nd on Stage 5. He is now on his way to OMV Petrom – Albania.al. He was only their 3rd choice, but their Top 2 were both picked up late on in the Free Agency.

So Tryg with a decent regional talent and Centovalli with a good value pick, interrupted in the middle by the Brexit team with a very Brexit pick: nobody really knows what the benefit is! Pfft

everyone missed Guillen?

I bid on Kip, and since there was no interest for him frok CT teams (outbid by pct), I assumed I ca n probably get him from the draft

Betilson is a nice pick. Only 26 y.o. and should be a solid value, especially for € 0. Was on our list, too, but we felt there was more need for a fast sprinter.

Betilson is a solid pick - TT and flat ability that is not to be sneered at. 26 and already maxed, perhaps a little surprising didn't get a full pro contract?

The rider who featured in the most draft selections this year was Romain Hardy. He is the 5th to find a team, Bianchi – Campagnolo. With Eddie Stobart last year after a few seasons with the team now known as Carrefour (then In-n-Out) - including placing 71st in the CT Individual Rankings in 2015.

Another former In-n-Out rider, and one who finished 31st in the 2014 CT standings, is Robert Sweeting. He took three wins in that season, including two at the Tour of America. Last year he watched the draft in anguish, eventually securing an Amateur contract for Newton Foundation. This year is much better news, McCormick Pro Cycling have taken him up.

Hardy should still be a solid Mountain Dom. I'm a little surprised Sutty let him go or that no-one else picked him up.

Ooh, Sweeting is a nice leadout/ good sprinter for harder finishes, will be interesting to see how he goes this year.

You'd be forgiven for thinking that Julien Berard had retired, going out on a high after winning the 2015 Tour of East Java. He is still 76 Mountain, and he is back in the peloton. He has been selected by Eddie Stobart.

One of the Hardy boys took up bike racing after being a teenage detective, who knew! Pretty sure none of them were French though, did he fall out with his national federation and switch license?

Another solid pick though, extra value in his figher and dh stats alongside being solid stage race support opens up the opportunity for breaks/KoM hunting.

Guillen was the obvious guy left on the board who was a sure top 5 pick. Hardy and Sweatinh also absolutely no surprise to be picked early. The others i dont really know.

Bernard - doesn't he already ride for Fablok (?), must really like racing his bike.

Oh, Berard, forgive my confusion. Same name, similar stats, just a bit of age difference. Has MGUCI started cloning cyclists?

What do you do if you don't get Guillen? Get another sprinter instead.

Carlos Alexandre Manarelli has always gone well in CT - 4 wins most recently in the 2016 season. Former Minion, he has been picked up by Equinor Pro Cycling.

DK Zalgiris meanwhile, placed Azizulhasni Awang as their backup. 6 of his 8 MG wins in Malaysia, but time trial championship inside, that does include two stages of the Tour du Langkawi!

Manarelli is a great pick. Another rider where you wonder why he didnt secure a contract already.
