Wow, last episode of first season its a tough one. Cant say more without spoiling Pfft

Guess I will find out tonight Smile and yes, I'm already excepting an emotional finale anyway. Not sure if I'm looking forward to it though Wink

Well, yes. That was indeed a tough one. Very emotional as well.. I had a weird feeling from the bath scene onwards til the end.

Well. Season two then Smile

13 reasons is quite reasonable if you think about the fact that the main characters are teenagers. Remember how you used to be back in the day Pfft

My problem with the show is that two seasons were already enough, but what the hell are they thinking making in a third season. I don't really see how they could make a third season work. Even though it was nice to see the characters for another season it felt that it tried to tie too many lose ends up and some new pieces of info didn't felt like they fit in with the narrative from the first season.

True Smile

Will start watching season two before I start complaining about season three Wink (didn't know another season is coming, but already wondered, how/why you would keep telling such stories with the same characters.. from watching season one, the link to season two seems reasonable by now though. But yeah, I already can imagine the problem you have with another story of 13 reasons for someone to do something bad/sad/dramatic/whatever)..

..well, until then: no spoilers please Grin

I`m with you there alex have missed that it would be a season 3 and when you say that now I cant understand how that could work.

2 seasons is absolute enough. Dont make a good show bad by making an useless/unnecessarily 3 season.

Any way have a good time with season 2 tsmoha!

I have started to watch Riverdale and I like it so far!

Dont forget Better Call Saul season 4 starts in a week Wink

edit: ell, thought it was two weeks, even better

Riverdale is an odd duck, though fitting to the development of the Archie comics, which have been around since the 1940s, I think, totally harmless, but with the characters from the Riverdale tv show. It reinvented itself again and again and I believe they now even have comic books with zombies.

I just watched the animated series Final Space on Netflix which turned out to be surprisingly good, the first episode is a bit meh, but it gets better from there.

Not sure if we need season 4 of Better Call Saul, seems like all the groundwork has been laid by now. But the 3 seasons so far were excellent, the conflict between the two brothers just heartbreaking.

So I´m here again...

This summer I have seen A LOT of episodes of series...
Had some series to catch up with so Game of Thrones is done...
The Walking dead before it went bad in season 5 or something IMO.

I have heard a lot good about True Detective but I cant seem to get "stuck" on it.

Tried Riverdale last fall aswell, liked season 1 but after that not so much...

I will try alexkr tip "The Night of" now but it´s only 8 episodes so would need another serie next week or so Pfft

roturn
I can recommend "Bosch".
Quite typical small police squad detective kind of series with 2-3 cases in one season.

But as I read lots of the Connelly books I had to test it and wasn`t disappointed really.

Have to say Riverdale is a guilty pleasure of mine - after season 1 its for the most part not great TV at all, killing off my brain cells, but it’s so bonkers I can’t stop Pfft

I enjoyed Mindhunter and The People vs OJ Simpson, both on Netflix. I haven't seen it myself, but I've heard great things about Westworld. If you're also interested in more comedic series with a good amount of serious moments and great characters, I recommend Sex Education and Russian Doll on Netflix, and Fleabag on Amazon Prime. Loved all of them, plus they're still pretty short, so it's not a big commitment Wink

alexkr00
Yes, both Mindhunter and The People vs OJ are amazing. Sterling K. Brown was in a whole different level compared to everyone else in the last one. I've seen only the first season of Westworld. Even though I enjoyed, I wasn't as amazed as everyone who I heard talking about it was. Same about Cernobyl. I guess a lot of people didn't know about Cernobyl which would explain why it created such a big wave.

And the best comedy on Netflix in my opinion is Brooklyn 99. Well, at least from what they offer here in Romania but I guess it doesn't vary that much across Europe.

If anyone likes animation and is fed up with the same routined jokes of Family Guy, Simpsons, etc., I recommend BoJack Horseman, a fresh revamp of the genre with witty humour, a homage to pop culture and Hollywood lifestyle and a really deep, thoughtful approach to our purpose in life, in general. Also on Netflix. Smile

This. Totally forgot to mention this. It's a brilliant show.

I wouldn't put it into the same category with Family Guy and The Simpons though. It's funny, but it also tackles some serious issues and the struggles the main character goes through hit a little bit too close to home sometimes.

Agree so much on B99 alex Grin

Can back up cunego on Fleabag, and also partly created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge who did that show is Killing Eve which is amazing, love it Grin More thriller and serious than Fleabag but also still very funny and the acting, writing etc is superb Grin

Been meaning to try Bojack Horseman for a while now too, thanks for the reminder Pfft

I have four more episodes of Orange is the new Black to go, looks like it won't be a happy ending for most characters, but that'd be fitting. Agreed, Brooklyn 99 is really funny. As for other series on Netflix: I really liked season 2 of Dark, if you can handle German. I wasn't that impressed by the first season critics raved about, left too many unanswered questions, but season 2 resolved most of them. I was disappointed by Stranger Things season 3, it has already become a parody of itself. I quite enjoyed Alta Mar (Spanish, so I needed the subtitles), something different. Playing on a cruise ship in the late 1940s, the story somewhat reminded me of a telenovela, but a lot squeezed into a few episodes. Can't really recommend The Society, it's pretty much Under the Dome, only with teens and I'm too old for teen drama. Certainly can't recommend Another Life - it actually has a decent scifi story, but the characters drive you mad, they are so stupid. If you need more zombies, you can try Black Summer. It's pretty basic, a small group of people trying to get from A to B, but it's less boring than the Walking Dead.

Sure, The Good Place is great. It's not quite as LOL as a sitcom like Brooklyn 99, but what a story. I didn't see the twist at the end of season 1 coming, and with that all bets are off, the series can go just about anywhere and it does.

I'd recommend The 100. The first season, especially the first three episodes, are CW cringeworthy at times. But, Season 2 makes up for it. Season 6 just ended with Season 7 being announced as the final season to air next year. Well worth getting caught up before it comes to an end. Can be found on Netflix.

Completely with you on The Society. I haven't watched Under The Dome, but feels like this plot has been done over and over again in different variations. They've made the characters way too dumb as well. It's not a bad show, but it's not great either. On Stranger Things, I agree that season 3 perhaps didn't live up to the standards of the other seasons, but I still enjoyed it a lot. They're starting to stretch the storyline a bit, though, hope they don't keep the ball rollin for too long.

Other things I've enjoyed lately is Ozark and Billions. Ozark is a bit reminiscent of Breaking Bad, though the plot and character development is a little faster. Might feel like a semi-familiar plot line, but still very tense and enjoyable. Billions has been my favorite show for a number of years now. I know not everyone likes the in-your-face type of dialogue in this show, but I think the writing, characters and acting has been superb throughout the 4 seasons we've had Smile

Look at all this TV talk (personally i'm making my way through Angel and The Boys on Prime, and i've only just discovered B99 which i'm rapidly losing my life to), y'all need som Film chat to balance the books!

Well Film wise i just upgraded my HDD to 2TB and had to change around shelving at home to fit in new DVD's.
Starting off still slightly TV related, What We Left Behind is a documentary on Star Trek Deep Space 9. Made by one of the showrunners it's a surprisngly honest look at, what i honestly believe might be the best sci-fi series ever. Some rose-tinted looks back, a nice dive into what made it different and how it had to fight against the odds, so far so normal. But What We Left Behind openly looks at regrets they have about the show, missed opportunities, badly handled stories and characters and generally being very honest. If you like Star Trek at all i say it's worth a try.
And also you have to check out DS9 if you like sci-fi.

Tolkein came out a but earlier in the year, and ahead of Amazon's new show in a few years time, why not dive into the creator the ultimate fantasy epic? Nicholas Hoult's performance is stellar, the whole cast is very engaging. Some of the best cinematography i've seen all year (calling it now, Tolkein will get award wins all over the place for this) mixes in tons of really clever nods and visuals to LOTR.

Alita Battle Angel... Quite how a co-production from Robert Rodriquez and James Cameron ended up so bland and generic i genuinely can't understand. It's a perfectly functional film but just a week after watching it not a single thing from it sticks in my mind... apart from the giant anime eyes... they haunt my nightmares...

Tickets booked for Once Upon a Time In Hollywood and for the re-release Apocalypse Now Final Cut which will be a fun weekend
