If someone like Nairo, MAL or Carapaz wins Vuelta then all three winners would come from South America. Would be quite historic as well after the british dominance last year albeit different nations this time.
If Thomas does not win this, and Nairo obviously won't, we'll also have four new GT winners back to back stretching to last year's TDF!

The shortened stage reminds me of the final stage of the Tour de Ski. Though cycling rules won't allow it, but it could have been fun to race it the way the Tour de Ski does, as a pursuit race with everybody starting with the time gaps they have before the stage and the order they finish in is also the order of the final GC. But should be interesting in any case.

This Tour was a waste of 3 weeks. Looked like it was gonna be good, then a landslide decides the winner and the final Alpine stage is gimped to nothing.
Year after year it just becomes more of a farce. After Froome running up Ventoux I never thought it could get worse. Yet here we are, and for one reason or another the TDF has been on of the worst major races on the calendar for almost a decade.
Come one dude. Tour is victim of he's won popularity and money. If you want a watch proper GT focus to Giro. How many years I have been told that , over 10 years?
When most member was hyped that this is best Tour over decade. Maybe correct. Reason for that we did not have that strong Sky-Postal train to control mountains.
Still..at Giro we had leaders all over the mountains, pieces left, still 60km to ride.
I still dont understand how giro weak startlist (4-5 strong leaders) can produce so much more fireworks. Maybe the reason is a little more relax atmosphere. At tour also at flat stages speeds are +5-+10km/h compared to other races.
Still Bernal deserves that yellow (also predicted that and made him fantasy team captain). Thomas should be little down, because seems like he has planned he's peak form well and was lurking behind Lotto-Jumbo boys yesterday. |

It comes down to the magnitude that the Tour has Worldwide. It is by far the biggest sporting event in a calender year. The pressure by fans & sponsors and so on has a huge impact on how the riding is done.
People are more afraid of loosing a 4th spot in the GC rather then attacking for the win IMO. And in the Giro & Vuelta we see people wanting to go for the win rather then protecting a top 10 as we see in the Tour.

Also more charismatic.in a singl interview than Froome.exe in 7 years on top.
This is one of the reasons I actually don't mind having Bernal win - actually like the kid, just a pity he rides for Ineos. |

Bernal is one of Ineos' more likable riders for sure, but I don't think anyone (including himself) wanted him to win like this.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Yeah, I agree on that. He would have eventually won it, whether the weather allowed it or not - though I'm not so sure if that would have happened with a top Pinot. |

This year the Giro startlist was a lot better than the Tour startling in terms of climbing though.

I feel like Eurosport think they need to fit all the commercials they had planned for the stages 19 and 20 into those 60 km ffs

I was riding Létape that stage. More like 500m, and more like loose surface. Nothing to be worried about for these guys |

But do they really need to bring two ads about eurosport player right after each other?
From here out, adfree
