God is clearly an Ineos fan and the UCI pissed him of yesterday by not reinstating Rowe

Seriously though, I feel sorry for Bernal. He is clearly the strongest and probably would have won the yellow jersey anyway. Because of the way it's happened, and the general hate of Sky/Ineos, the way it's happened will always be held against him.

The decision was fairly straightforward. Surely the top of the last climb was the last available official time check before the race was stoped. It's the only option the organisers had. It's just a shame the most exciting edition in years has been decided in this manner, but I think the right rider has won. (Baring anything amazing happening tomorrow).

...except there was no time check at the top of the Col de l'Isard...

and that the decision should've been announced much sooner

and that Pinot was stronger than Bernal so the right rider has not won
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I meant the right rider overall. How is Pinot sronger? He abandoned.

The most relieved rider will be Thomas who can stop pretending that sending Bernal up the road was a tactic. He just wasn't as strong as Bernal.

Rolling Eyes Sure, cause abandoning disqualifies you of being the strongest rider.I don't know if Pinot was the strongest, guess we'll never find out, but the argument that he abandoned just doesn't make any sense.

Well it does.

Froome is probably stronger than Pinot but he broke his leg a month before the tour. Is he the rightfull winner then?

Froome didn't even start in Brussels... Pinot showed in the Pyrennees that he probably was the best climber in the Tour. Major difference imo. I'm not saying Pinot deserved the tour, but you can't just state that Pinot wasn't the best rider in race just because he had to abandon.

Forever the Best
It looks like the landslides are much more serious than I thought actually because Cormet de Roselend may be cancelled tomorrow. So there goes not only my split stage plan (because landslide at Tignes is probably serious as well) goes out the window but also the tomorrows stage is not looking very good.

Pinot is out. He looked strong when he was fit. But the rigours of the tour clearly took their toll on him and he was forced to abandon. Therefore not the strongest otherwise he wouldn't have abandoned with a muscle injury.

Good for Julian. Might win 3rd stage and seal 2nd place

Oh well it is what it is...

Ver shtty management by ASO to make the call so late. It should have been the latest at the foot of Iseran. No later is acceptable

This way we have a decision that feels like manipulation

Oh wow, crazy weather in July. Climate crisis takes our cycling races. This is too far.

Quick Step full classic riding.

I lookd forward to Val Thorens tho

Saturday stage cut down to 59km as well due to mudslides. Such a shame that the best Tour de France race in god knows how long gets completely ruined in the end.

Kind of sad for Bernal as well (if he wins). That victory would probably have been a lot sweeter if these 2 last mountain stages had been raced as planned, rather han get ruined by weather and conditions.
