Hmmmmmm so the French organisers if the French race have removed the two strongest donestiques of the two strongest ( none French) competitors, for handbags, the day before the 3 toughest and most important stages of the race, while a French rider sits in yellow and another French rider seems to be pretty strong in the mountains. Yeah, that seems perfectly legit. Rolling Eyes

This is a UCI jury decision, and I don't think there are any french in the UCI jury.

Either way, it seems very convenient to me. You see comings together like that in every cycling stage that has ever been raced.

I would be willing to bet my life savings (which isn't too much I accept) that if that had been Enric Mas and David Gaudu coming together they would not have been expelled for the same incident.

That is just a hypothetical that no one can answer at this point bc very rarely riders act so stupid.

Punching fans has btw always been acceptes: Mal, Froome, Contador, the list goes on... Neither of those have faced any punishment for it, whereas countless incidenfs between riders have always resulted in DQ, eg Brambilla, Moscon. This makes it clear that those two are not the same.

Ok it is a controversial decision., but the silver lining for me is that they could have caused a mass crash on account of a personal fight. That's unproffesional, reckless behaviour.

You can agree or disagree, but there's enough in their antics for that decision to have taken place.

But I'm glad to see ringo starting to give credit to conspiracy theories Pfft

Well I've had to listen to enough of them over the last several years. I might as well join in Wink

Can you imagine what this thread would look like if Alaphilippe rode for Team Ineos? Hahah

If he's already accused in Deceuninck I wouldn't even want to imagine

It has allways baffled me that Deceuninck could dominate the spring, and be way above average in the GT's with stage wins, KOM jerseys etc. and do well in the fall aswell. And nobody had a problem with it.

Meaning, Deceuninck have a team built for the classics, and they dominate without much hate.

Then Ineos have a team built for the GT's, and when they dominate there they recive hate. Never could wrap my head around that

Either way, regarding the expells of Martin and Rowe. I had the same thought as Ringo regarding the race now being more favored towards the French contenders. The route aswell has never been more favorable for a French rider to do well. But, they made the route thinking they were giving Bardet a chance. I don't think they had Pinot or even Alaphilippe in mind when they created the route for this year. So, with that being said. Fighting has allways resulted in a race ban. So even if i don't like it this time. I can accept it Smile

Rowe bullies Kruijswijk? You mean he does his job of making it uncomfortable for another team leader and Martin does his job to try to protect his leader?

Have you not seen the video or are you delusional?

It's not making it uncomfortable when you start shouting at a rider and forcing him to go from the side of the road to the middle of the peloton.

There used to be more respect for the big riders. If Contador or Schleck was behind you and asked you to move, you moved.

The jury is indeed international, assigned by the UCI. For example, when Sagan was kicked out a few years ago, it was a Belgian guy making the decision. It's harsh, but not unreasonable. What they did should not happen in a peloton.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Both bikes (Rowe's & Martin's) are on the roof of the cars and ready to go.
So did the appeal work? Are they now not kicked out?

If that were the case wouldn't the bikes be under the riders, not on top of the cars

It wouldn't surprise me if the appeals worked to be honest. The offences are at the lightest possible end of what is required to be kicked out, if they actually cross the line at all. As I've said, if they ban riders for what happened yesterday they are opening themselves up to have to review and ban riders on 9/10 stages of the race.

It's just the usual inconsistency in sport really. Personally I can't how both Martin and Rowe got kicked out while MA Lopez managed to stay in his race. Maybe its just because the MA Lopez incident was the most exciting thing about the whole Giro!

Yeah, Ineos, Jumbo and FDJ will have to ride hard over the first two climbs to isolate Alaphilippe on the last climb. I could see him easily losing a minute or two over the pure climbers today as chances are he will have no help by the last climb.

Yeah, but you never truly recover while riding the tour. He might be over his illness, but he will never be back to 100% while he is riding 150+ KMs a day through the French Alps.

It's like when you have a cold or sickness at home. Even when you are over the illness you have a few days where you still don't feel 100% mainly due to the lack of sleep or loss of fluids/lack of appitite while you were ill. Imagine feeling like that and still having to race at the Tour on the hottest few days of the year, in the Alps Embarassed

This year's polka dot jersey is sorta like, not wanted by anybody except Lotto?

It seems only one entire rider on the peloton focus on the polka dot nowadays

It's just sad

They should stop giving points for cat 3 and 4 climbs. It's King of the Mountains, not King of the slightly undulating transition stage.

Give out more bonus seconds instead. That'll make it more exciting.
