Best TdF I have ever seen Alaphilippe was so strong on the flat and the mountains. Mas made the party complete with his 3rd podium spot.
Next goal: keep the Tour de France winner and best young rider in your team for next year
Thanks! He really wont it on the flat and hilly days, more than in the Mountains.
Keeping them both will be a tough goal

Sounds like Froome, Thomas and the other favourites underestimated Alaphilipe, probably thought he could never win it. Wow, what a tour! One for the history books for sure! I wonder how long the celebrations in France are gonna last...

Yeah, they didn't attack too much tbh, I think my setting the pace on the earlier climbs helped reduce their power for the final climbs. Can never take too long of a celebration...
Easily the best rider in any PCM I've ever used. This years edition makes it easier for a rider with high ACC and decent SPR to even contest sprint stages, and he is unbeatable on the hills, but hes never really showed this climbing potential before when I've used him.

Hello everyone, as you have probably noticed, my updates have really been slowing down. This is not due to lack of motivation, but because I am preparing to go travelling to Europe this summer until the end of August. I will not be able to post any updates while I am away, so for now the story will be on hold.
I would like to continue this story once I get back, so I will either continue on PCM 18, or if PCM19 sounds like a solid upgrade over 18, I will finish the current season on PCM 18 and then convert my save into PCM 19 and start the next season (season 3) on PCM19.
Thank you to everyone who has been following along so far, and I hope you all will still be here when I get back!

Wow, a surprisingly quiet BinckBanck by Quickstep standards But a great Pologne for Mas and most of all IT'S BACK

Thanks. I played it ages ago now, but I think the problem was I use PCMCE to make my schedules and for the most part its good, but that section of the season is terrible for rider tiredness and so I had to go with a very weak squad I think, in order to not mess up riders build up for the Vuelta/Worlds etc and to still have enough riders for conflicting races.

La Vuelta a España (2.UWT) 2020 Preview
The Route
This years race starts in Jerez de la Frontera with a TTT. GC hopes will want a strong team in order to not start the race on a deficit to others. Much of the first week is filled with flat or lumpy stages, but nothing major for the GC riders. The sprinters battling for the Green jersey will sort themselves out, but dont discount a climber winning the jersey either. The 2nd week, will be where the climbers begin to battle, with a couple mountain top finishes and a TT. This will be when we see who's in form, and who's not. The third week sees 3 Mountain stages, and another TT for good measure. Only one flat stage in the final week, could mean a climber swoops in to take the Points jersey as well.

Favourites
***
Tom Dumoulin (Sunweb), Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain), Geraint Thomas (INEOS), Primoz Roglic (Jumbo)
**
Chris Froome (INEOS), Thibault Pinot (FDJ) Egan Bernal (INEOS), Mikel Landa (Movistar)
*
Daniel Martin (UAE), Alejandro Valverde (Movistar), Bob Jungels (Deceuninck), Steven Kruijswijk (Jumbo), Romain Bardet (Ag2R)
INEOS again bring the strongest squad to a Grand Tour. Not only do they have Thomas, Froome and Bernal, but also Geoghan Hart, who could have been a leader on another team. Dumoulin has been in a bad streak of Grand Tours, so perhaps this is where he begins to turn things around. Roglic is the only GT winner from this season here, as Alaphilippe elects to rest for the World Championships which are located in France this year.
The top Spanish contenders are again the duo from Movistar in Valverde and Landa. Landa is the stronger rider on paper, but Valverde somehow always brings an extra level for the Vuelta.

I've just finished reading your story. Exciting it is! Great results and show of skills. Will keep up with the updates. Good luck at la Vuelta.
P.S. Did you try PCM 19 and decided to stick with 18 or skipped the latest version? Would be very grateful for the answer as I am now considering which version to buy. First one since year 2010 |

@ sutty - Thanks!
@ Kirosha - Thanks for catching up, and glad to have you along!
As for PCM18 vs 19. I would definitely recommend 18 over 19. If you are interested in pro cyclist and thats the only mode you would see yourself playing then perhaps get 19, but from what I've heard the AI is not as good as 18, and apart from that its basically the same game other than a changed UI interface.

Week One Thoughts
We started the race off winning the TTT, great for us and Jungels chances at winning the race. Bob has also been very consistent on the climbs, finishing in the Top 10 everytime and even moving into Red for a stage. Mark Padun is also looking very good for the U25 jersey too, so we hope he can win that competition in the end.

Bob Jungels doing great so far.
As in real life might be hard to keep up with Primoz Roglic when the race gets harder.
Too bad Formolo and Quintana out this early

It's always good to start with a win. Nice team time trial! Strong field is presented in the race and every second counts. Good luck in GC battle! |

@ Tamijo - Yeah, he's been doing great. The course really suits him. Roglic looks like he will be hard to beat.
@ kirosha - Yeah, TTTs were somewhere we wanted to get better, so to be winning them now is a great justification. Thanks
@ sutty - Thanks, lets hope it can continue!
