Yeah, a Top 3 would be a great result for him imo. He's only got 79 MO going up against guys with 82 MO in Dumoulin, Yates, Roglic and Formolo.

Final Thoughts
Jungels peaked too early, as we added Amstel Gold and La Fleche Wallone to his schedule late on, which meant he was not strong in the final two weeks of the Giro, where most of the mountain stages were. Jakobsen ended with one stage win, which was good, but we were hoping for a bit more. Our team was well equipped to support Jungels, but we still couldn't compete with Jumbo and Bahrain in the mountains.
Overall a 4th in the GC for Jungels is a great result for him, and now his best result in a grand tour. Jakobsen will be able to learn from his first completed Grand Tour now, and his first stage win. Padun had a great ride, and nearly finished inside the Top 20. He will be able to fight for the White jersey in a years time as long as he stays on course with his development.

I'd say a great GT for the team, Fabio with a win and a few podiums in a race with not too many sprinter stages and Bob 4th overall.
The most negative see with my eyes was the ITT, losing that much to Nibali, and not gaining too much on other GT riders considering BOB is a rather fine TT rider, not then again it was a tough route, on the other hand he did very well on the mountain stages where he only lost time in very few situations and in a GT hard not to have a bad day.

Thanks. I think maybe I was hoping for better, but at the same time, Mas is a much better GT rider than Jungels, and I was only playing on Hard last season, so 4th with Jungels is pretty good I suppose.
About the TT, Jungels saved energy on the flats to go hard on the climbs. Thats what was working for my domestiques before and even with the extra speed on the climbs he really didn't gain back as much time to Nibali as I'd hoped, meaning the MO stat was probably the most important. I've been finding TTs much more difficult on Extreme.

Jungels did what he could. Fourth is a good result anyway, though the team certainly have had better winning days. Perhaps saving them for Summer. |

Yeah, on the flats I can usually find the right tempo and do well, but anything bumpy is more difficult, which is strange as I found it the opposite on lower difficulties.
Yeah, it would have been very nice to get it.

Thanks! That is my hope. We're bringing a strong team to the Tour, so stage wins will be the bare minimum imo.

Yeah, after a couple stages my motivation went down quite a bit as the riders just couldn't seem to get results here, hence the lack of screens or anything in the report.
Winning the Belgian NC was great though, last season we didn't have any NC's as far as I remember so getting 3 is nice, especially the Belgian one.

Tour de France (2.UWT) 2020
The Route
This years route is very, very similar to the 2012 Tour de France route. It features on opening prologue, and then much of the first week is filled with hill stages, which should suit Alaphilippe who is basically unbeatable on the hills this season. We see the first mountains on Stage 11, but there are only two total Mountain Top finishes this year, which could mean a rider like Nibali has more of a chance against the INEOS 1-2 of Thomas and Froome who are the joint favourites.
The Route also has nearly 100km of TT racing, which could give Thomas an advantage of nearly 2 minutes over most of his rivals.
The sprinters will only have a handful of stages that will be undoubtedly for them, so Sagan or Matthews may be the favourites for the green jersey.

INEOS have 3 of the race favourites, so it may end up being a race where everyone must fight against them. If Froome or Thomas either crash out or drop behind, Bernal is there to pick up the pieces. Even Poels, Moscon and Kwiatkowski could all Top 10 if they ride well. Moscon is coming off a Top 10 at this years Giro after all.
Dumoulin and Roglic decide to skip this years Tour, leaving the podium spots up for grabs. If Enric Mas can win this years edition, he will become one of only 3 active riders to accomplish winning all 3 Grand Tours in a career, with Froome and Nibali. He has his strongest ever support squad around him now with a strong climber in Lambrecht who can support him in the high mountains, something he didn't have last year.
Yates and Bardet have both ridden the Giro already this year and we will see if that helps them here or hurts their chances. Neither rider had a great Giro so perhaps they were both saving themselves for the Tour as their ultimate goal.

Sagan is the clear favourite here. He can challenge on all but 5 stages, but Gaviria and Groenewegen should be able to outsprint him on the flatter days, giving them a chance. If multiple sprinters start sharing stage victories I see it being pretty difficult to beat Sagan, who can Top 10 pretty much any stage, and also survive in a breakaway in the mountains, if he were to require creative means to build his gap in the competition.
Overall this race should be very exciting, and with Thomas and Froome looking weaker than in past years we could see INEOS' dominance taper off a bit. Maybe even a rider from a different team taking the win, which would be a welcomed change of pace to most.

Week One: Review
Gaviria and Groenewegen look very strong in the sprints, meaning it will be tough for Hodeg to get a stage victory in the race, which he needs to be able to contest the Green jersey competition. Alaphilippe is also doing very well in that competition and may have a better shot than Hodeg at this point, so a tough decision must be made. At the same time, we have definitely been the best team of the race so far, and our dominance on Stage 4 proves that. Alaphilippe has a real shot to keep yellow until the first mountain stage if he can keep it past the TT on Stage 10. Mas is in a great position atm, the best positioned of all GC hopefuls.
Look for Serry or Lambrecht to have a shot at stage wins later on in the race, or possibly Styuven or Lampaert on more lumpy stages.

Thanks. The stage win was a great start. I wanted to target the first week with Alaph since I knew he could be close from the prologue, and be in range of yellow if he grabs bonus seconds, which he did and some.
Indeed, we just need Hodeg to start finishing a little higher and I'd say were the best on all terrains so far, but we haven't really hit the mountains yet.

Just caught up mate. Giro was solid and although a shame to miss the podium with Jungels, a very good GT overall. I particularly enjoyed Evenepoel's double in the Basque Country as you can imagine! Great first week of the tour holding yellow with Alaph, here's to it continuing! Keep up the great work. |

Thanks! Im glad you enjoyed his Basque wins, I had a feeling you might.
Im hoping Alaphilippe can keep it up, its the 2012 route that Wiggins won on, so with only 2 mountain top finishes I think its possible for him to keep a Top 10, as long as he can sneak some time on the others at times, like on the flatter stages.
