Their transition is amazing, from a silly CT team to a 1 guy team with Sagan and then the 2019 team with 3 top sprinters, decent enough cobbles team and Buchmann/Schachmann to cover the rest.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

To be fair, 2018 already had Ackermann making jump to WT sprinter level. Buchmann was more than decent since at least 2016, Konrad as well was on the up since 2016. Both definitely on a high level in 17 and 18 surely. Formolo another rider, who was already strong alongside Sagan in 18.

So I don`t really agree to a 1 guy Sagan team, as this would be 2018, where they already had Top10`s in GTs and Monuments and top5`s in WT races offside Sagan.

Obviously I agree with their next jump in 2019 due to having lots of quality young talents, which continued to progress plus the addition of the next big talent in Schachmann, who also continued to improve from a strong 2018.

Well yeah, of course it's more than a transition then a sudden jump. But the 2017 team still was a one man team in my opinion Grin

Surely more than their 2018 team, yes, as in especially Ackermann wasn`t yet on the radar.

Still they had some more than solid results next to him.
- 2nd in Pologne (Majka)
- 15th Tour de France (Buchmann)
- 7th Dauphine (Buchmann)
- 16th Giro (Konrad)
- 2nd California (Majka)
- Top20 in all Ardennes Classics
- 10th in LBL, 16th FW, 17th AGR (3 different riders)
- 10th in Romandie (Buchmann)
...

Sure, in comparison to 2018 or now 2019 the performance from Sagan might have grabbed them the bigger attention.
But it shows that their talents were already good for Top10-15 in the biggest races and Majka was close to a consistent top10 performer, just crashed out of the Tour de France.

But I get your point and agree that 2017 might be seen as One-Man Team as the big wins were missing, that only came in 2018 (Bennett, who basically started in 2017 already by being super consistent but only had this 1 Paris Nice win and 4 Giro podiums in big races).

Nothing like a good debate on a satuday morning Pfft

In 2017, if you take away Sagan's WT points, Bora would've finished 16th out of 18 teams, only finishing ahead of FDJ (who had 5 riders less) and Dimention Data (no comment needed). It's true Majka had a good year but even if you put Majka, Buchmann, Bennett and Konrad together, they have a lower point total then Sagan. And this was also the year where Sagan got his Tour dsq so it could've been even more.

Nice development by Bora for surre but only natural after so many years of work. And some.point, you have to get some results of that labour. What is up with Majka anyway?

By the way, when you list a 2nd place in poland and 15th place in TDF as the next best results after Sagan, this pretty much proves ollfardh's point. This is by all accounts abysmal for a WT team and they were bar Sagan anything but ready for the big scene. They really got lucky and played their cards well when Specialized chose them to keep Sagan otherwise they would have been out in no time.

Yeah, agree. Hence why after all that text I had to admit that it likely was a main saga team in 2017. ;P

Regarding Majka, it's weird. He simply pulls crashes a lot more than most others. Similar to Gesink in his prime. Far too bad bike handler I guess for great consistency. Plus his skills might have been a bit better anyway in his Saxo days.

What a shocker, Joker once again the dominant Norwegian team. Guess who's getting the money to go to PCT next year?

Spanish organization strikes again at the very end after all.
Do the only correct thing and give everyone of that group the same time, I swear to FUCKING GOD.

How the F is it possible that the routing isn't completely clear in the final couple of hundred meters in a WORLD TOUR RACE? I mean, obviously enough riders managed to go the right way, but why is that even a conscious choice they have to make? Sucks that Emu loses the podium because of it ...

FreitasPCM
I think the fairest thing is give Buchmann group the same time as Landa, etc., no officials seem to have been signaling the route and that motorbike deceived most of the riders... we'll see, but this is insane, Basque Country so far from Portugal but still with some Portuguese traits. Pfft

Sergio Pardilla and Peter Stetina would beg to differ, that pole alone put to shame anything Portugal could do for decades.

You're right there, though. Had forgotten about that crash.

Meanwhile, Buchmann given the same time as Landa and Mollema, so he's back up to the podium.

Some great racing at display at País Vasco, as often is the case. Great for Izagirre to finally grab the overall win at his home race.

Btw: MVDP vs. Alaphilippe upcoming at Wednesday's Brabantse Pijl!

What about Pogacar? What a talent. I hear a lot of noise about Evenepoel and all the colombians, but this guy has managed some impressive results already at 20 years old. Another serious case for the Slovenes.
