Yes, got the stage we had to win!
Unfortunately, the stage was always too short to give Haig a chance to provisionally claim the U25 lead (guess you were too pessimistic, SotD) but it's a nice win and so we at least achieved our goal here. If Haig won't hide in the mountains and does a strong ITT as well, he may at least fight for a respectable result. The first week didn't bode too well though.
I will repeat: we simply need breakaways. Hopefully Dyball, Canty and of course Haig will do that in the mountains then.
Hot couch not sure, if the riders enjoyed their seat with Aegon coming so close. But we made it and that's all that matters.

Solid TTT by us. Not much more to say, really
Cool to see tsmoha get the win he hoped for in this race, arguably in what was their only possible way to make it happen, unless Haig goes stage/KoM hunting in the mountains. Congratulations!
Also a very nice report from a TTT. Enjoyed it a lot, eventhough I knew already pre-stage that the stage was of limited interest for my team, as we don't have that much to fight for in a TTT, seeing Galta's overall position. Thank you, jandal! |

Not bad, pretty much back to zero for the mountains. Really looking forward to next stage

Must be one of the best TTT result by my team ever. Awesome. |

2nd in the TTT is a nice result.
Obviously had some hopes with a lineup around Boom-Frison-Dumoulin with Dekker and Gallopin also decent. But never expected to top3 or even top5 here.
Due to the unnecessary loss by Dekker earlier, it`s still hard to get a top10 here, so he better turns his disadvantage into break appearances, KoM hunting and stages.
Also Zardini with a few KoM points might be a good shot at break appearances. |

I feel like we massively overperformed here. Timewise and resultwise. Relying on riders such as Fabbro, Archimandritis and Le Roux to secure 18th spot ahead of riders like Barguil, Gesink and Slagter. Well done lads!
Jack Haig was helt by the door, and Lecuisinier SHOULD keep the white jersey all the way.
Now I'm looking forward to seeing what Le Roux can potentially do regarding the KOM jersey. Not much I suspect, but an attack from him would be nice to claim atleast a couple of points on the early mountains.
Oh and obviously - Lecuisinier should move well inside the top 10 tomorrow, and hopefully take some time back on some of the candidates for the 3-5 spots.

3rd is okay for us. It could have been better but I suspect that having started first didn't help too much.
Congrats on the win tsmoha. Hopefully the stat of proper mountain stages will bring some much needed raise in the GC for Intxausti.
Thanks for all the great reports so far jandal!

It feels good to be in the mountains and have 100% firing graphics. Hope the screens look good and the report quality is stepped up-I feel like from here on out both counts are true

Brambilla finally showing some of his past form here.
Terrible to see Gesink losing so much time after looking so good in the first week.

Wow. Dekker with a huge day in the saddle. Just like Taaramae!
And while I am saying this, wtf. Kolesnikov. Yet again in some crazy annoying form. One of the biggest overperformers in the history of MG GTs.
Regarding KoM cio must be happy as Nerz surely will go into at least 7 more breakaways now and similar likely Vinhos for Porto giving them big points. Not sure Dekker can go into that mix as well now he has gained a few GC spots again. |

Great racing and a great report Jandal
Great ride from Taaramae. Spilak needs to really put the hammer down now to stand a chance to win this. Hopefully more thrills and spills (not literally, because no crashes ) to come in this race.

Wow, that is a proper shitty performance from Lecuisinier. Podium gone for good here, and top 5 even seems difficult. What a huge letdown!

Roche continues to spur surprise after surprise. Who would've thought he would be sitting in 6th in the GC at this moment. Really interesting to see. I do however not understand why Poljanski attacked instead of protecting his captain.
It does seem like a Top 20 in the final GC is within reach, but lots of racing left to go and lots of other chances to get that damn stage win

Well, this is awesome! Great, aggressive racing by Sicard. Not much to do about a dominant Taaramae, so this is so far the best I could have hoped for.
Oh, and my former rider Dekker still competing at this level ... surprising. |

Seriously, wtf? I'm so angry at this avalanche of shitty results. Evonik has 2 guys ahead of Reis in the GC after this behemoth of a mountain stage. Get your shit together Tour de France!
The battle at the top has taken another turn thoug. Taaramae finally unleashing his full potential. It's going to be interesting how Spilak and Gesink will fight back. Congrats, Heine!

Indeed, beautiful screens you've produced there. That, plus your witty remarks plus your great pace are making this race tolerable for me

Now that my happines and giddines has reclined a bit (yeah right...) thanks for a great stage and report jandal. You are really doing a great job with this Tour
Interesting to see Sicard doing well, he was dubbed as a future TDF winner many years back, but turned into a relegation master. Would be great for him to get a good result here

Actually quite a good performance from Haig, already gaining some spots in the GC to move into the Top-15 (which is obviously anything but save at this point). Don't like our general invisibility here though. Not sure, if the AI makes our two remaining climbers (Dyball, Canty) to protect Haig? Are second or third tier climbers protected by their teammates? Anyway. If they do, our only breakaway chance will be Haig.. If they don't do, I want at least Dyball to try something at some point.

Kind of worrying to see that we had no interest in joining the breakaway. Hopefully just because it's too early in the race for Galta to get interested, as his GC position definitely should mean he's free to do whatever he wants on such mountain stages.
Taaramäe with the expected early statement in the mountains. Congratulations, Heine! Though, interesting to see Spilak not that much slower than the Estonian on the final climb, but of course giving the world's best climber for stage races a 50 seconds free advantage, isn't necessarily the wisest thing |
