Volta a Catalunya (2.UWT) Stage 7/7, 109.2 kms
Our original idea, to go for an intermediate sprint with Ruben in order to improve his GC position, fell through thanks to his starting position at the very back of the peloton. We did get a guy in the break with Dayer. Atop the only mountain sprint of today, the group of seven had a gap of 3'05". Seven kilometers from home, QST's Adriano Brogi managed to get away from his fellow escapees, whose reaction was to keep staring at the rest. Brogi's very first win as a pro remained unthreatened in the dying kms of the stage. The rest of the break was reeled in as MartÃnez came in 10th. We are leaving with a top 10 overall and the mountain jersey for Henao. Doubt they'll reach the same number as they did IRL though.
Rather silent race for us, but we finished in the top 10 and are taking a jersey home too.

E3 Harelbeke (1.UWT) Flanders, 203.1 kms
The pack would not let go of an 8-man break, hence why everything was still together at the first of today's cobbles, 150 kilometers from the line. Two Germans attacked before the next cobblestones, which came at the Paddestraat. Angel Cerezo then tried to join Roy Windhorn & Lucas Liss. Angel did catch up, after which the trio extended their lead. It amounted to 5'15" in the Geraardsbergen city centre, from where 100 km were left. Fifty kms later, Angel succesfully tested his legs on the Taaienberg. The leading three had seen their advantage come down to 2'15" by that time. In his turn, Angel suffered on the Paterberg. A reduced pack sat at 45". The breakaway came to an end on the Oude Kwaremont, with 35km left. The thinned 35-man peloton still featured Cerezo, Oliveira and Cortes. The Knokteberg, the final climb of the day, caused some 10 more riders to get dropped. Trying to avoid a sprint, Benoot attacked 18 km from the finish. Sagan and Köhler where the only ones to react in the front group. These three were caught with 5 kms left, but Benoot and Sagan attacked again soon afterwards. For us, only Cortes sat still in the chasing group. Sagan stayed in Benoot's wheel, until Geraint Thomas was about to catch up beneath the red kite. Cortes sat too far back when Sagan did launch. Sagan held off Benoot and denied Belgium's champion back to back wins in Harelbeke, securing a second triumph for himself. Ednaldo L. Cortes narrowly missed out on the top 10 at his first try in the E3 finishing 11th. Gent-Wevelgem (1.UWT)
Flanders, 236.1 kms
Only Thomas De Gendt and Rick Goeree managed to get away from the bunch despite there being countless accelerations. With exactly 100km to go, the duo hit the Casselberg in northern France with their gap at 3'50". Over the first two climbs, the main group was down to these 47. Cerezo, Pinheiral and Barbero sat at the right side of the first separation which had caused the breakaway riders' time gap to come down to a mere 50". De Gendt and Goeree didn't last long enough to survive the first passage on the Kemmelberg. That's exactly where 8 riders rode away, taking 40". The leaders threw away their gap by letting the pace out front drop. Atop the Kemmelberg after its final ascent, a new trio had broken clear. Race favorites Benoot, Senechal had the latter's teammate Naesen with them. The front group became 19 when the chasers caught up again. Barbero was our best man. But when accelerations came, he wasn't able to react. The decisive move came 8 kms from the line. Coquard's attack was only countered by Benoot and Senechal, while the others couldn't or wouldn't. Benoot attacked in his turn with less than 5 kms left. Coquard was forced to chase himself, as Senechal just sat up in the Bahrain sprinter's wheel. However, Bryan Coquard didn't need any help on this one. He got Benoot back then dealt with his two companions easily in a sprint of three. Gent- Wevelgem is only the first classic win of his career; one more to have 50. Carlos Barbero was the first of us to cross the line, about three minutes later. He did so seizing the final position amongst the best 20 of the day. Great result for a non cobble specialist

Best result possible I think, given the circumstances. Ironically, our leaders keep getting dropped on non-cobbled sections.

GP Miguel Indurain (1.1) Navarra, 177.6 kms
Under a bright Basque sun, the breakaway trio of Lebreton, Ribeiro and Nieuwenhuis saw their lead reach a max of 6'20", 115 kms from the line. Sam Vandenborre tested his legs on the climb to the highest point on today's course. As a result, the three saw their advantage shrink to 25". The catch, however, wasn't made yet, as the pace in the bunch dropped. Ribeiro left his companions behind with 18 km left and kept his gap at 1'. Nieuwenhuis and Lebreton got caught before the penultimate climb, as 5 of our riders sat very close to the front. Ribeiro had his lead reduced too. Right at the foot of the steep final climb, the pack caught up with Ribeiro. Carlos Betancur attacked right away after which 5 men opened up a gap. Sam Oomen's strong attack from that group remained unanswered. The others were caught by the peloton, whilst Oomen gained 25" in no time. Oomen had no trouble securing his first triumph of the year. After three consecutive wins, we had to settle for 7th and 8th place this time around. Vuelta a la Rioja (1.1)
La Rioja, 158.9 kms
Despite an action-packed display on the bumpy first kms, only two riders made it into the BOTD: Jesús del Pino and Graeme Hammond. While rain started to pour down, their advantage got to a max of 5' with 80 km left. A duo of Newbury and Kamyshev gave their all to bridge but by the time they did, the gap had shrunk to just 15". Del Pino was not giving up yet. The Spaniard was caught 15 km from the line. Roompot's Martijn Keizer tried to avoid a mass sprint too. It took a big gun in Rohan Dennis to get him back. Bayarri got MartÃnez to the front, coming from very far back. Once Keizer had been reeled in, Modolo served as a leadout for Manakov. Unfortunate to see MartÃnez had to close a gap before the actual sprint. Manakov only launched late and the sprinters at the front were swamped from behind. MartÃnez lacked the energy burned earlier to do any better than crossing the line in 3rd, behind former teammate Tinajero and Sanz.
