 Paris-Nice (2.UWT)  Stage 8/8 123.2 kms
Eder Chávarri joined the break for the second consecutive day, looking for the mountain jersey. Remarkable: the absence of KoM leader Turgis. Surprisingly, the long-but-not-steep climbs weren't hard enough for Eder to keep Alexis Gougeard from gathering more points than him. Atop the third climb Chávarri and Dimension Data's David Helling followed at 20". Gougeard won the final mountain sprint as well. Helling cracked near the summit, it was up to Eder to come back while descending towards Nice. Chávarri did, while Helling stayed out of the picture. Our Basque stayed in Gougeard's wheel, being the weaker sprinter. The pack sat far enough. Sadly, Eder could not make Paris-Nice the third WT race he won a stage in. No attacks in the peloton hence the overall win is for Davide Formolo. Could've topped it off in a great way with the mountain jersey and another stage win. But given the shape of most of our riders, our performances were really fine.

Tirreno-Adriatico (2.UWT) Stage 2/7, 168.5 kms
Near the second intermediate sprint, lots of riders went down in a mass crash. Among them important figures such as Nizzolo, Colbrelli, Thomas, Jungels, Alaphilippe, Wellens, Contador, Vakoc & GC 10th Teklehaimanot. At that point the breakaway of two had 1'02" on the sprinters contesting the intermediate; a small gap for Luke Durbridge and Simone Andreetta. A group of mainly sprinters had gapped the bunch at the sprint and kept going afterwards. None of our own had had made the cut as we lost 40". We vainly tried to help chasing. The first group kept extending their lead while dropping among others overall leader Kolar; 1'30" gap to the pack. Arnaud Demare thanked his Sunweb team for the labour in the best way possible: by winning today's stage. Only seven riders got the same time at the line, with no GC riders present. Caleb Ewan takes the overall lead. Most of our riders finished in the stretched out third group. Ultimate time loss came down to 1'42", not quite as much as the group from the crash. Near the first mountain sprint, the pack let 5 men go: Francesco Gavazzi, former Ruralvía rider Aldo Lature, Hoelgaard, Lars van der Haar, Hui Wei. Due to the high pace on the local circuit, the bunch sprint was inevitable. No train for Carlos, who chose to jump on the wheel of Giacomo Nizzolo. Ewan and Demare fought a close battle for the stage. Above photo finish was taken late, after which Ewan was declared the winner by the Tirreno race jury. All of us concluded this very silent day safely inside the bunch. Fiorenzo Colla joined today's break of the day. Among the other riders present were Agnoli, Wellens, Geraint Thomas, Dan Martin and Mohoric. Six riders were left when Matej Mohoric attacked. Near the summit of the cat.1 Forca Capistrello, Colla had to let go. Gap at 6'20" with 65km to go. Geraint Thomas attacked the break and started the ultimate climb to the municipality of Cittareale with a 1'35" lead. Simon Yates became the first to attack from the peloton, 10 km from the finish. Barguil, Pinot followed. Wilco Kelderman came a tad late yet he forced everyone out of his wheel fast. Gaining 30", he caught Thomas and left him behind with 5km to go. Kelderman's ride was impressive and not a single try to come closer were successful. He'd come home more than 50" ahead of the closest chasers. Despite the rather big time loss, Izagirre concluded in a solid 6th place. Quite a leap indeed, interesting to see if he can still improve his GC spot. 
Tamijo: easy to provide them for bigger races (especially real variants), will add them as much as possible.

Tirreno-Adriatico (2.UWT) Stage 5/7, 192 kms
The BOTD took off on the climb right after the start, featuring interesting names such as Wellens, Jungels, Sicard, Mohoric, D.Malacarne and Kadri. With the longest climb of the day approaching, GC 3rd Van der Poel went down in a mass crash. None of his teammates dropped back but Bahrain-Merida made some of their domestiques wait for their GC leader Thomas. While Van der Poel managed to come back, the first riders started to lose contact out front. Malacarne, Lature, Durbridge let go 10km from the top. Van der Poel paid early on Passo Lanciano, probably hurt from the crash. Carlos Barbero set the pace, hoping we could get rid of more GC riders. Barbero quit the front 4km from the top, after which Ion Izagirre came to the front. Apart from Van der Poel, the full overall 10 was still present. Hitting the descent Izagirre was our only rider in the 23-man GC group. With a gap of 3'30" Luxembourg's Bob Jungels looked good for the stage. Nearing the horrendously steep Muro di Guardiagrele, Thibaut Pinot on a short bump. Simon Yates, Kelderman and Ghilardi tried to follow while I. Izagirre sat stuck in a larger group following 35" down on Thibaut Pinot. The stage and mountain jersey went to Luxembourg's champion Jungels. Simon Yates made it a 1-2 for Bora, with overall leader Wilco Kelderman coming in third. At the back of a proactive day in the saddle I. Izagirre only finished in a fifth group, dropping from 9th overall into 14th position. Tirreno-Adriatico (2.UWT) Stage 6/7, 185.2 kms
Battaglin bridged a gap of 3 (!) minutes to join the breakaway. He ended up in a front group of 9 men along with Vakoc, Wellens, Barbin and Gogl. None of the climbs along the road caused any separation. The advantage was still 4'10" at the last KoM sprint; that's 36 kilometers from the finish. The bunch woke up late but the gap did shrink. Wellens felt like an attack was needed in order to stay away. His acceleration came with 15 km left. Whilst the bunch came closer and closer, Wellens kept 15" on the others. Afraid to lose out on the stage, Patrick Schelling tried to jump to Wellens' wheel on his own. Behind them Battaglin had to do the chasing himself. When Schelling and Wellens launched under the red kite, Battaglin and group sat at 9". Suddenly the bunch appeared in the background as well. Enrico's impressive sprint nearly got him a stage, but he stranded in 2nd place. Ion Izagirre just has tomorrow's time trial left to improve his GC.
