Final Transfer Deals

Finally we have finished our transfer season! After a long while we have made what seems to be one of our last transfers! Signing a rider that will help with the lead out and lead our (non existent) cobbles team! Please welcome

Ralf Matzka

pbs.twimg.com/media/B_RWOVBU4AANjVN.jpg

A rider with a bit of a Calum Scott look will be heading up the very small cobbles team we have. But either way he hopes to achieve the great results he was able to receive last season!

He will also be helping Von Hoff in the sprints as the main lead out rider! He will also get an opportunity for himself in some of the smaller races. Matzka will be a key rider this season and we can't wait to see him in the racing!

Riders Clocking Out

Unfortunately with all the success and money we have spent over the transfer window, we have had to say goodbye to a few riders. Firstly, we say goodbye to Sonomtseren Delgerbayar who has gone away on loan to Team UBS. He will return at the start of next season having been MAXed out and help the team out even more!!

Next we say goodbye to Lotto Petrus who was involved in the deal with Ralf Matzka. He leaves us for Philips - Continental. We are sad to see him leave but wish him the very very best at his new squad!!

That's all! Next up should be the draft and we hope to claim a future talent from the draft! We will keep you updated!!

Edmonson is a beast, and that wage is so low it's almost criminal Smile He's gonna carve up this season - he look's like the kind of rider to take a team to promotion.

Thanks!!! Hopefully he does exactly that for us!!!

Transfers Finally Over!!

You can never really say that the transfer season is over, however with our final signing we really can say that it is over! Our final signing of the season also means we say goodbye to another young talent. Aleksa Crncevic has left us for Carrefour - ESPN. We wish him the very very best and his absence will be felt!!

Finally, we announce our final signing off the transfer season. Please help me in welcoming the national road and TT champion of Turkey...

Mustafa Carsi

Image Not Found

Mustafa will be joining us as our main sprinter on the very flat races like the Great Ocean Road Race. He is not amazing over the hills or mountains but he will be leading us during the flat races.

Von Hoff will still be a leader and these two riders probably won't race together very much. Carsi and Von Hoff will be Co-Leaders in the sprints and will push each other to be better and better!!! We look forward to seeing Cars in action!!

Well the draft is up next! We have sent in our selections and hope to have success in that area!! Can't wait to announce and let you all know how our picks go!!

CT Draft

The CT draft is a new concept that has been added this season by the MGUCI. It gives each Continental Tour team a chance to sign 2 riders for the wage of nothing. A great opportunity for us!

We have decided to go a different way to some may have expected. We have gone for the talents. We want to really bolster our future and we believe the draft is a great opportunity to do just that! With a rider like Richie Porte available, other teams believed we have selected the Australian TT veteran, however we believe that with the future talents we can secure the future of Australian and New Zealand Cycling.

Round 1

So without further ado, With the 12th pick of the NB...I mean Continental Tour draft.
BNZ Cycling Team select

Luke Mudgway

www.roadcycling.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Luke-Mudgway-photo-Mark-Sowry.jpg

22 Years Old - XP 1.0 - Pot. 4

Luke is a great future talent. His sprinting ability is already very good and will only become better with time! He is apart of the future of this team just like his fellow Kiwi, Nick Reddish and we believe that they both show great potential and will make both the team, and their home country proud!

FLMOHITTSTARESRECCOSPACCFIDOPR
63596360666564606971656465

As we said Luke has a great future! In a few years time he will have enough experience and essentially reach his peak ability! Listed below is how we see it!

Round 2

With the 6th pick of the Continental Tour draft
BNZ Cycling Team select

Campbell Flakemore

i.pinimg.com/originals/af/ae/23/afae230bc7962532891ca1f205f03e47.jpg

26 Years Old - XP 1.0 - Pot. 4

Campbell is an amazing Australian TT rider who has been around but never quite seemed to make it as we pick up his first professional contract. Campbell is 26 but we still believe he can do great things for Australian cycling and develop into a very good TT rider and we will be here to help him every step of the way!

FLMOHITTSTARESRECCOSPACCFIDOPR
66606369646865536263566069

With enough push we can get Campbell to his full potential and we will be trying our best to get him there!! Below is his peak ability as we see it.

Well thats all folks! We thank all of you for tuning into the CT draft this evening and cannot wait to see our two riders in action! They will only do great things for us in the future!!

Porte would have been a solid addition indeed Wink Or maybe someone else. Flakemore had been on the very end of my shortlists for several years now Grin Not sure if he's worth the spot, but it's still cool to see him picked up.

Mudgway looks better with the +7 REC he would gain with his sprint training though Wink

Eden95
Happy to see Flakemore finally get picked up by a team, moreso happy that it was you (or tsmoha Smile)

Honestly kind of surprised that he hasn't been picked up by anyone previously.

@tsmoha - I agree that Porte would have been great! Flakemore I think will surprise in a few years but he is already quite old...But I've always liked him and glad I could pick him up!

Mudgway is a great pickup! Along with Reddish they will both be a big part of the future of the team! Still unsure on what way I want to take Reddish but together with Mudgway the kiwi pair will turn a lot of heads I think!

@Eden95 - Yeh he was a great pickup and I'm glad it was one of the few Oceanic based teams as well!! Would have been just as happy if it was tsmoha or you as well!

Yip, as TSM points out you've missed out the +4, then +3 REC gains for reaching 75 and 76 sprint respectively. Also looks like a typo on his prologue (goes down!). On that note, track-sprint might be worth comparing against pure sprint as a training choice if he is a rider you choose to re-sign and work all the waythrough to MAX?

Was cool to see a team commit to local talent in the CT draft, so kudos for that. There were obviously better alternative young riders if geography was less constrained, but nice to see a guy like Flake-no-more finally get a contract.

Oh I completely forgot about the extra gains Shock I will look into that an edit it tomorrow sometimes.

Flakemore does seem a bit of a random choice but I still think he can do well in the CT. Plus it isn't really costing me anything for this season so I could always just cancel his contract at the end of the year if I find someone else to target.

Scorchio
Re: Cambell - not a random choice at all. Good to see someone willing to take a chance on a rider who is a couple of years past espoir, but still makes a nice MAX rider. Especially useful in increasing your local pool of rider choices for the future!

Manager Notes: The Leaders
"I'm very excited to see this team in action! With the new addition of Joshua Edmondson this year to lead us in the hills, this should be a very significant addition to the team and we expect Joshua to gain us many points and wins over the season! Campero will continue to lead the team in the mountains. We have hired more help for him in that area so he should be in good hands this season!

Now the complicated sprint leaders. So we have both Steele Von Hoff and Mustafa Carsi this season. We made the late transfer of Mustafa Carsi as we feel he can really perform well for our team. Mustafa will be focusing a lot more on the flatter sprint races like the Great Ocean Road Race. Whereas, Steele will be focused a lot more on the hilly stages that are still classified as flat. He will be mainly attending stage races while Mustafa will attend mainly one day races and potentially some flat stage races."

Head Trainer's Notes: The Trusty Sidekicks
"In the first season this was the level of our leaders, now these guys are the main helpers, The Chris Froome's if you will. These 3 men are the final helpers for Campero and Edmondson before they go off on their own. Tim Roe was our leader in the first year and didn't do terribly. He left us for a year and got even better after experiencing the Pro Tour. Unfortunately for Roe, the CT has developed and now Roe's abilities just aren't quite good enough to lead us. Nevertheless, Roe will get an opportunity and with his TT ability, could do very well in some races! Aasvold is new this season and we can't wait to see what he can do! He is a very good climber, period! He will be there to help both Campero and Edmondson and will definitely get an opportunity for himself. Finally, Nathan Haas joins us this season and will also be a helper for Edmondson. He will also have many opportunities for himself and show us what he can do in the CT!

The manager has put together a great squad this season and is by far the best the team has seen so far!! We can't wait to see how it progresses."

Managers Notes: The Unstoppable Workforce
"These guys are the Tony Martin's of the team. They will get on the front and will not leave until the job is done! Taylor Gunman is a very strong hilly rider and even though he is not a leader, he will still get a chance for himself. Gunman did very well for us 2 seasons ago before we sent him on loan to the Pro Tour for much needed resources that we couldn't offer. He comes back stronger then ever and we can't wait to see what he can now do! Ralf Matzka is sort of an unknown quantity. He is here to mainly help in the leadouts for either Von Hoff or Carsi. However, he is also our cobbles leader and could definitely achieve some nice results there! Finally, we have Daspuntsag who has been with us since day 1. He achieved our first big result in the Tour Down Under of 2015 and will continue to work hard however now it will be for the team and not himself!

These guys will be great for the team and will contribute more then anyone else!"

Head Scout's Notes: The Talents
"The future of the team! The guys we will rely on in just a few short years!! I believe I have found some big talents like Nicholas Schultz who has been around since 2016. He will be an amazing climber in only a few short years and will lead the team to many victories! Baterdene we also found in 2016. He is one of the future sprinters of the sport and we can't wait to help him continually develop! Luke Mudgway is an interesting one. He has amazing potential and could be a top Kiwi sprinter in a few years. We cannot wait to help him develop! Miles and Campbell are both future TT stars. They will both be amazing in the future and we will help them continually focus on their abilities throughout the years. Finally, we have a real future star. Nick Reddish is one of the big Kiwi talents and we are stoked that we could pick him up! He has great abilities and we are still unsure on what direction we want to take him. We do know that whatever direction we take he will be an amazing rider! Like in the above example, we have shown his abilities if he works on his Time Trialing. With a bit more training after 2022 on his abilities he will be perhaps the greatest TT rider New Zealand has ever seen!

Finally, Jai Hindley is here from Bennelong - Mitchelton and we are very excited to see what he can do this year!"
