Yeah that's one of poorest decisions of the WC. I get that the ref couldn't call it on the spot, but come on it's such an obvious foul in the replay.
I get the criticism against Sweden. They weren't really proactive in the search for the 3 points, but they stuck with their game plan and very nearly let away a valorous draw.
Germany has the upper hand now and should use this result as the launching pad for the rest of the tournament.

Very proud of Japan – did very well today, a lot better than most would have expected.
Also congrats to all English supporters, great game from them today.

Japan, yeah, I'm surprised they don't start Honda. In the few minutes he played he looked really good.
Poland has been piss poor, now again. |

Honda, was mostly on bench in 2016/17 then transfering from Milan to Mexico's Pachuca and had injury about a month, havent played that well in 2017-18 at national team, about a year since he played full 90'.
But was looking good and alert today.

yes, was waiting for Uruguay too really wake up even if they had two wins before this game.
They could make some problems for other nations coming up with bot Cavani and Suarez scoring. |

Egypt leaves Russia with no points, guess Salah alone cannot carry the team... |

Agree there a class act, and the 2 centre defenders from athletico they will be a hard team to beat . |

1 man cannot carry a team in modern football. And before you say Ronaldo, at least Portugal is defensively stable and somewhat creative when they need to be |

Denmark = worst performance of the tournament vs France.

Well both teams played boring. Typical saving energy match.
Although I kinda hope it bites them both and they are out in the 2nd round. But in France case that probably will not happen. |

Bad show, but no doubt a calculated game plan, on reason for the Danish coach to take any chances with France, when a draw was enough.

Peru would have been a worthy team in the next phase. I like their playing style, plus they have got some talent still to be polished. Current manager Gareca rumoured to replace Sampaoli at Argentina, but maybe in a couple of hours we'll see how farfetched this idea might be. |

But they couldn't not qualify and didn't even try to win. They deserve to get destroyed by Croatia. France could end up with Nigeria or Iceland. Why not try to win the game?

I'll probably eat my words because I can see England v Belgium being a stinker.

If they continue playing as they have done so far they will get destroyed by Croatia.
Just saying that only 3-4 teams in the world would have the nerve to attack hard v France, if they can move on with a 0-0.
Peru was most likely the 2nd best team in the group, but did not get the results.

France - Denmark was one of the worst matches at WM, but this one was a thriller.

Argentina have the worst sportsmanship of any team in this World Cup. I don't know how the ref added only 4 minutes after the 2 min goal celebration and the penalty review and complaints. I also think consistency with the penalty calls is needed because that one tonight not given was more clear than the one against Cedric yesterday which was.
Croatia making 9 changes to their starting XI and still managing to win shows they've potentially got what it takes to go far here.
