Silly tackle from Durmaz threw it away. |

Germany deserved that though.
What a piss team that Sweden is. Even against 10 men they still walked backwards. Jesus christ. |

No big surprise that Germany was the team who was in charge of the game.
Any one who thought Sweden would have much of a play themself with Sebastian Larsson (Championship player) & Albin Ekdal (Injured most part of the season in downgraded HSV) against Toni Kroos and Rudy/Gundogan thought wrong.
But yeah deserved win.
Still Germany needed a freekick on the last minute to beat this piss team.
Who should have gotten a penalty aswell.
How is your nation doing this World cup? (Sorry, could not resist) |

Joke is on you, I don't give a crap about this Dutch team. I said even before the qualies they won't qualify. Wrong coach + No talent atm (and aging stars). So I pretty much do not care. We would have only embarressed ourselves at the worlds.
I don't say Sweden should make the game, but against 10 men, after Boateng's red card, they should not have walked back. You evaded my entire point? |

Germany did dominate today. Loved the statistic after 10 min. 120:6 passes.
But Sweden fought well, showed of Germany's big problems with high offensive and hence open for counter attacks. Nice goal as well even though Kroos with a very rare bad pass
After 90 min, yes Germany deserted the win. They were the better team but the ref should have stopped after +3.
+5 min was a present and taken by the German team. Kroos wanted this after his mistake.
Feel with Sweden though. It was the year, Germany struggles. |

@ruben
Well I think they were satisfied with a draw. They are more comfortable with focusing on defense. + Very tired after chasing the ball/covering areas in 80 minutes. In the first half when Rudy was off the pitch for a few minutes it was Sweden who hade the ball possession.
Anyway still a loss. But now we need a win against Mexico instead of a draw. Will be tough. |

@roturn: yeah Germany seems really really vulnerable to counter attacks. Tbh I don't think they will make it to the finals this time. It's just so vulnerable |

Neither do I. They have individual quality and hence might improve their game in time, but I think the whole system they are playing is not ideal.
Whenever a player is losing the ball, he sprints 5-10m forward to get it back as quick as possible. But it`s absolutely deadly if you do this as defender, when opening lots of room behind you.
One simple pass and the counter can start with another player less for the German squad then.
It happened lots of times with Kimmich and Hummels in the Mexico game when first played more right winger than right defender and Hummels used to play more a central midfield than a central defense, which can work as long as you don`t lose the ball.
Against Sweden Kimmich still has no World Cup form. Hummels injured and Boateng now the one playing incredibly offensive. Very often he appeared ~20m ahead of the Swedish goal and he remained there and didn`t run back. Hence whenever losing the ball then, it`s deadly as the German defense players are all not the fastest.
Bad thing is that it becomes even more obvious since Germany struggles to make goals themselves, which never was such as big issue in previous tournaments, where Klose, Müller, Podolski were a guarantee for goals.
Quite sure Sweden would have won yesterday if they had went a bit more offensive and not just stopping after the 1:0 and also not trying a lot after the 1:1.
I expect Germany to win against South Korea and be 2nd behind Mexico.
Then it`s potentially Brasil and Belgium as next two games, which would be a real task for this German squad out of form.
In fact already started in the late Bundesliga season, where Bayern lost their full defense focus losing high against Stuttgart and then also the German Cup.
Not helping if the German defense is basically the same and they still not having their form. |

Maybe not "the single best team" but impressive constant quality games.
Need to note though that Panama & Tunesia is rather small teams, need to show same sort of play against England to qualify for top favourite.

Also, why are we trying to score so many goals? We want to finish second to avoid Germany & Brazil.

It's not sure yet where in their group Germany and Brazil will end up. If you really want to end up 2nd anyway you can always throw the game against Belgium, but this way there's more chances of ending up in 1st in the group in case you prefer that.

Cmon, they did their best. They qualified where the USA failed for instance.
This is simply the difference between European nations and CONCACAF |

So that means they can wrestle instead of play football?
