Spotted a mistake in max stats. Van Aarle and others are pretty low, while Jensen (8008) has max stats in 80ies regions.

Found the mistake. Will upload the corrected sheet later today. Everyone else can use the sheet currently available. Thanks for checking

14 entries for stat updates in already Keep them coming. Race profiles are going to be up soon followed by race selection.
No deadlines for anything yet. Sign-ups remain open.
I will have a rider in the game too, hope that's fine with everyone.

No objections there.
If I may give a bit of feedback, I think the customisation part was a bit underwhelming. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have a feeling most people will just have leveled the same stats? I would've prefered a bit more diversity there.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Or some way to adjust where you started, even if leveling up is restricted. I don't want to be a world beating 19yo, but some greater design over my stats to suit my rider (or if i'd known stats first i'd have changed my rider + goals around to better fit).

Alright, I can see that this is a general complaint, and not just on this thread. I've received PMs too regarding this.
The change that has been suggested to me so far is to keep the base stats as they are and allow a max +3 change across the board for all stats. The alternative would be allocate a total to everyone to assign as they like with a slightly higher max stat for the current age. Any other suggestions are welcome, but I wouldn't really prefer formula based ones.

I think best would be to start lower (something like 3 main stats at 62, 5 secondary stats at 60 and 5 other stats at 58) and give more points to spend while also adding maxes. I do think the stats were pretty accurate for a 19 y.o. rider, but all riders would be too similar.

That sounds too extreme to me. I think it's fine if each rider type starts with very similar stats and only later we diversify - my climber will never ever gain a point in TTR. I proposed allowing +3 in every stat, which would allow slightly different builds. Should I go for +3 DHI or +3 ACC? |

Actually, now i've seen the Stats we're given, can i change my rider? Climber isn't that interesting and i'd rather take a different Specialization (and hence different rider)

I'm sure no matter what same type of riders will develop in almost same direction, but what is wrong with that ?

I'm afraid that this will lead to backups being completely neglected if all stats have a certain equal upper limit. In case upper limits are different for different stats depending on specializations, it will just lead to a similar situation as it is now, isn't it?

This suggestion also is liable to suffer the same fate as I can easily see the available 9 stat increases divided into three primary stats, leading to backups being neglected. That would defeat the purpose of keeping things realistic.

This was my logic too which, to expand, was based on the fact that a young rider is likely to strengthen his specialization before attempting to expand his skill-set. I have kept the stat limits quite high for most stats for all specializations and do believe the system will allow for a wide variety of riders to be developed. Riders with the same specialization should end up quite different after just 2-3 seasons. Also to point out, the stat increases for each stat will not be linear. I wish I could take an example of a rider type to prove my point but that would defeat the purpose.

I'm sorry I can't allow that as it would set a bad precedent and I'd have to redo a lot of things.

Then i'll be active in a year when second riders can be used!
This restricted system doesn't interest me at all for a climber. If i'd have seen these stat base's and limits before signing up i would have picked very differently. As it is my character doesn't fit in the game and i have no real desire to try and develop Thomas Hinault, for the reason i can't make the rider i find fun or continue the story and rider i made in sign-up.

I don't think so, you can't be competitive with 60 resistance 60 stamina etc. You will have to level it, but how far? You can invest a lot in your main stat, but you need to watch backups as well. You also have to make a choice, more hill or more cobble I mean, as a classic rider I maxed in cobbles, hill, sprint and acc. Only choice I had to make was resistance or stamina. I don't think I should be able to fully level all my main stats.
Anyway, just a suggestion. As I said, your system was very realistic, but I think everyone will level the same stats unless you allow more leveling or take away points to distribute.

No one had seen the base stats when they signed up, so I can't really make an exception for you. Doing so might be incentive for others to also go down this path!
I'm sorry you feel you this way but I'm not really sure what you were expecting for a 'climber'. I think I've chosen the stat upgrade limits to mimic how a cyclist would improve irl. I hope you'd consider staying and giving the game a chance.

Give it a couple of seasons when the 'left-over' stat-gains accumulate and you can increase your main stats only so much, that's where the differences will come in. I agree that most riders starting out might be similar, but you can still make a differentiation with the calendar selection. Only 60 RDs available out of a possible 200+. I'm sure there won't be a lot of overlap there.
I'm explaining the game dynamics a lot more than I would've liked, but if it helps keep everyone interested, so be it.

Alright, about the calendar then. Manzana could use a home race (only San Juan in South America). Any chance of adding a Colombian classic?

I'm open to adding a couple more classics for this season, one in South America and one in Asia (other than Middle East), preferably flat/cobbles/bumpy. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to make them.
