I was starting to look one day raiders..miracle raiders. Who had turned at some point as amazing GT stars..like Lance and Froome.
Can you name another one?
At history the best ones have been best at young age. Hinault, Merckx, Contador, Fignon, Coppi, Anquentil etc.

Bjarne Riis, Santi Perez, Bernhard Kohl. Incidentally, all of them were either caught or admitted to doping. Pfft

Floyd was good..really good at young age.
He had massive VO2 numbers...way better then Lance, little less then Lemond. Same with Hamilton, amazing potential.
Both ended up at wrong era and with wrong persons.

It is highly arguable (and actually I have some trust in them) but there are some riders showing up, that weren`t even cyclists 2-3 years ago. Embarassed

Actually I meant Roglic and Woods.

(Though as said, not saying they are doping and actually have some trust in them)

But they are examples of having big success without the palmares in the juniors for obvious reasons here.

Roglic came from another sport too, so a different situation, while Woods I remember reading about in Phil Gaimon's book which lends credence to him I guess. Pfft

Woods was a runner before, so he also came from another sport

I find neither Roglic nor Woods are particularly striking although Roglic's progress is a bit suspicious. The odd thing is that they started out late but then again cycling is an easy sport to get the hang of tbh. If you have an endurance background like Woods and Roglic this benefits too, especially since their body types are already perfect for cycling with strong legs and low upper body weight. At the top level, the utility of cycling training is rather limited anyway, when we think about the fact that pros use the actual racing to get the best shape. The regular training is mostly there to maintain the shape throughout the year, which we all know many cyclists have failed at in the past. The hard thing is to maintain it for years in, and that's where Woods and Roglic may have an advantage since their bodies isn't so used up yet as they get older. I dare say they even have a mental advantage since they do this as a second chance sort of where they are more determined to make the most out of it given how they 'lost' some years to other competitors. To me, it seems reasonable that they make good progress given they're close to peak age.

Naesen started afaik out pretty late. The guy used be a cycling courier of some sorts and just did local amateur races, and it turned out he was pretty good. So he decided to focus all his energy on it, continued his job, until he got a contract. Pretty awesome lad.

Roglic has always done sports and also tested with high scores before he started riding pro. He is still very young in terms of cycling and is improving steady like most talented young riders do.

He was also junior world champion ski jumper so he was always a high level athlete. Anyone accusing him of cheating is being very disrespectful!

Nobody accused him. It was merely discussed wether his development process raises questions about his "cleanness". Sadly in this sport nobody is above suspicion and it is not disrespectful to question someone.

Implying someone is cheating is in my opinion disrespectful to the person who is working hard to be successful. Nobody knows who is currently doping in the pro peloton. If every success is questioned (and that's a lot) then what is the point.

I prefer to enjoy the sport as it is and reserve dragging riders names through the mud for when it is actually proven they have done something wrong. I do not see anything different with Roglic as with any other young rider having a good/breakout year.
