PT Rankings Update #10
SportingNonsense
Time for another update, with the TTT, Lisbon and Tasmania now finished - leaving just Lombardia.

Another swing at the top. Bewley out of it at Lisbon, and Festina dominant in Tasmania. The defending champions now back in pole position, going into a race that in theory is as good as any for Spilak. Moser will need a race like Badaling here - where Sagan won, and Spilak was not present. Repeat those race scores here (278 Moser, 97 Festina) and Moser win the title by 2 points. It's a tough ask now for the Czech squad, but not quite over yet.

For the podium, Evonik pulled off another crazy race in Lisbon, and they hold on to 3rd place - despite strong performances from Aegon and Vesuvio in Tasmania. With the TTT as well, Aegon are into 4th.

A very close battle for 7th through 10th, with only 29 points separating RBC, Aker, Pendleton's and Puma. Tasmania lifted RBC up but Phinney could have done better, and they may struggle to hold it. 6th place eBuddy had a better Tasmania to also climb 3 places, and are only a further 50 points away. These teams aren't even guaranteed a Top 10 finish. Gazelle and Hugo Boss are known to score well in hills, and are also in range.

A strong end to the season now sees Jayco 13th, passing Wiesenhof, and both are likely to remain where they are. Spotify too, safe in 15th.

So the relegation fight, and there's only 10 points in it. Ayubowan have done very well to still be outside the drop zone at this stage, but now need a better race than Strava in Lombardia. Bakelants history there? 4th, 2nd, 6th, 3rd, 2nd. And if both do well in Lombardia then this could put real pressure on Porto, who have an 84 point cushion going in. And there's still Trofimov for Tinkoff, the Russians being 71 points behind Ayubowan. Any combination of two from these four can still happen.

Iberia have been closing in on Nemiroff too. Now down to 40 points, in the battle for 20th.

Over to Lombardia then. And this being a race that saw Dyrnes finish 2nd last year, and Suaza 5th, who knows what could happen.

What is certain though, is that Sam Bewley has won the Individual Rankings. Phinney is not in Lombardia, and even a victory would see Spilak fall just short.

That looks promising for Festina. Can't see Spilak to fail so hard, if he avoids any crash or other dramas. Sagan obviously amongst the favorites for a race like Lombardia, but the task is quite big. The relegation battle should be more interesting, I fear.

Good finish for us indeed. Probably won't do too well in Italy, but at this point, it doesn't really matter anymore.

Thanks for the update, SN.

Thanks for the quick update, SN.

I'm very disturbed by this. We start in the pole position but with the slowest car on the track. It's hard to see all of the teams involved in the skirmish against relegation miss the top10, especially Strava, so I don't feel the odds favouring us.

We need Borges to pull up a Dyrnes here. Either him or Machado.

Anyway, good luck everyone, especially me in particular Pfft

We have to fight hard to achieve our rankings goal, which literally everyone pre-season agreed to be very cautious.

We have transfer plans. It is crucial to finish as high as possible. And we shouldn't be where we are.

We can't run from being favorites now, but things are not over yet. Last season Spilak was 18th. In the past 2 editions Sagan have been top 10 - before him being trained!

So there is a good chance that he will win the race.

Having Koretzky and Spilak here must get a better score than last season though. Otherwise it is our own fault, not winning having a gap of almost 180 points.

I don't recall how much I was trailing in 2016, when my unmaxed heroes + Ricco went to steal the PT by having 3 in top 10, but this could be a similar scenario race.

Lombardia should really become interesting with the fight for the crown.

Going up to 4th is huge for my team. Without this crazy Lisbon and Moscow from Evonik (while Swift failled horribly) it could have been even the podium.

Being that high with Swift in #15 only says it all. Very good depth but no the very top individual scorers for me.
So basically as I prefer it. Pfft

De Bie in Lombardia hopefully is doing well again similar as in LBL.

With Skujins vs. De Bie vs. Gastauer I suppose, the fight for the 3-5 spots is not over yet.
At least by the look of it the top5 standing goal seems to be safe and hence my most successful goal season ever I think.

Thanks for the quick update SN.

Wow, it has been an uphill battle for the past few months and suddenly there is a dim of sunlight that we could actually make it. At least we have it in our "own" hands to survive.

Best of luck to the others, especially Porto and Tinkoff, whom I like very much.

Thank you for the quick update, SN.

Seeing the standings, Lombardia would be a very nice point of the season for Beltran to turn his classics performances around, and do decent Pfft If not, it looks likely we'll drop out of the top 10, which would be unfortunate.

Can't really see Festina loose this, barring a crash or a miracle ride from the whole Moser crew. For the relegation fight, though, wow how close that is. Best of luck to everyone involved!

Thanks a lot!

The two key notes to take away from this are the battle for relegation and the title fight.

Festina being 160 points ahead should be enough but we have seen stranger things already.

More important is the battle against relegation where all four team still look in desperate need of a good final race. I fancy the chances for Strava as Bakelandts is probably the best scoring option of the four teams but every single combination of the 4 is possible.

evonik still in third is awesome. Top 5 was the ambitious sponsor goal preseason so we are looking to achieve that for sure. Top 3 would br even sweeter though Grin

Wow I am really happy we already managed to score enough to stay out of that relegation battle, it looks very exciting and nervous for those teams.

As been said Festina the clear Title candidate but the race shall be raced atleast.

Thanks for update!

Finishing 6th would be amazing. But I would be happy just to improve on our classic 9th place.

Strava are safe then, Prio should be barring Trofimov winning and Borges being nowhere. We'll be lucky to not finish 19th - only way we stay up is with a huge amount of luck from here.

Staying alive Grin Seems like Festina will get this at the finish, well done!

I wouldn't rule out Bellis from this race, looking at the past two seasons, where lesser hilly riders did very well in the sprint.

Just had a look at how we did at the Ardennes this year compared with the other teams fighting for sixth. Yeah, it's not looking good.
