Marco: Not being a technical guy I asked on the DB Team chat and the response was:

To ctrl a the file, ctrl c and ctrl v in excel

Selwink: Yes a number of those have slipped by the radar especially Cras at FW. All the others have been updated as well.

I think I didn't see Matěj Zahálka and Jakub Otruba from Elkov - Author in the database. Please add them in. Sorry for my bad English.

What do you think about Hills???

marcoplv95
Some few suggestions, and as always i remember they are just personal (i never wrote since this season started, so some will be based on all the season while most will be based on Ardennes)

Froome: I don't think he's that good in Downhill, he just "runs" a lot, that's why i'd lower his DH to 78/77 and upgrade his FL to 75. And that would make sense considering that downhills in PCM are affected by both stats.

Nibali: 73 FL (+1), 74 COB (+1), 81 FTR (+1) and add MSR as favourite race (3rd and 1st place now)

HILL Stat:
Valverde 81 (-1), Alaphilippe 81 (+1), Martin 80 (-1), Bardet 79 (+1), Vanendert 78 (+1), Gasparotto 78 (+1)

Jungels: 78 FL (+1), 77 DH (+1), 75 STA (+2), 77 HI (+2)

Formolo: 68 FL (+1), 69 DH (+1), 72 ACC (+1), 76 STA (+1), 77 HI (+1) and add LBL as favourite race.

I'm doing the final hill stats at the moment and thanks for the list Marco BUT some things to consider when giving out especially the hill stats.

As known the mtn stat is more dominant in hilly races than the hill stat so by giving both Valverde and Alaphilippe the same hill at 81 still greatly favours Valverde over Alaphilippe due to the 3 points that Valverde has over Alaphilippe in mtn.

IMO Alaphiliippe is the best hill rider in the sport at the moment after his long promised dominance at FW and should have 1 point more hill than Valverde. Valverde has the experience of course but I think age has finally caught up with him.

I also wouldn't increase the hill of Bardet anymore expecially with his 81 mtn. I agree with the lowering of 1 for Martin .

It's riders like Vanendert that will benefit more from an actual hill stat due to having a much lower mtn. which is why hill riders that have lower mtn need a high hill and especially good res and acc to keep them at a decent level compared to the high mtn stat climbers.

Other observations Gilbert clearly a different rider now and has chosen the cobble races over the hilly ones. Gerrans now no more than a good dom.

Jungels will probably get away with having a 76-77 hill because with good mtn and very high res which he has, the way to win in-game is to go long with this type of rider and just hold on till the end while the other favs chasing tire themselves in doing so. I have seen a number of in-game LBL won this way with a long attack but as Jungels has actually won the LBL 77 hill might be a better option.

Not sure Ia gree about Froome, his DH is dangerous and risky looking but going DH like so is risky. I'll look at the flats for both him and Nibali

I also wouldn't put MSR in anybody's fav race. I only think Swift has it because the race is such a lottery and that is it's beauty. Formolo not necessarily for LBL because with his stats he could finish as he has but I will look at all of these in more detail.

Of course you know more than me how all stats are considered in certain races, so i understand, Alaphilippe sure is the best right now, but i thought it was too risky to upgrade that much a rider in few races (even if he deserves it...it would be 3 points difference in hill since last year, that's soo much, he will dominate everything i guess and that's not what he actually did, like Valverde did last year)

About Nibali, i think he can't ever come close to win MSR with these stats, FL+1 woulb be just an help, as 78HIL you said many times he doesn't deserves it (and after Lombardia and MSR i think he can be at least at the same level of the others). That's also why i suggested to add MSR to his fav races.

About Formolo you think he can Top10 with 76HIL and 75STA? I disagree.

Anyways, thanks to you for reply! Smile

In my opinion:
Alaphilippe 83
Valverde 82
Dan Martin 80
Henao 80
Albasini 79
Gasparotto 79
Kreuziger 79
Teuns 79
Gilbert 78
Kwiatkowski 78
Pozzovivo 78
Nibali 78
Ion Izagirre 78
Jungels 77
etc...

Miguel Angel Lopez has only 70 in recuperation, he finished 8th in Vuelta a Espana 2017, I propose 73.

Marco Formolo is 77 mtn and 77 hill. Also Alaphilippe has been under statted in hill for a while due to bad luck and crashes etc. He showed his ability a few years back when he finished 2nd to Valverde at LBL and it's only this year that he has shown what he can do. Alos imo he's a much better hill rider than mtn and that needs to be his focus I think 76 mtn and 82 hill would work for him. Good points on Nibali and will look at those. Also NIbali does well on hills in classics but is not so good on them in stage races. So I'll look at putting MSR as a fav race

Thanks Aizak those stats are mostly comparable to those in the DB and just 1 point higher in general.

His problem is that he is very inconsistent and might be better to wait to see how he does at the Giro and will make a note against him

Marco MSR now added to Nibali along with Giro and Lombardia and I kicked out Tirreno

Valverde has the experience of course but I think age has finally caught up with him.

he was saying to spanish press before amstel that he was very tired from hitting a form peak in the winter - to see if he had lost power - and didnt think he could win anything this week

that is why he didnt do basque country either
so he could rest a bit

today after the race he said again hes very tired and needs rest

Despite all his experience sometimes Valverde is not the smartest rider imo certainly in terms of of GT racing, which is always a problem if you try and stay on peak form which he does all season or tries to.

After that crash I do understnad his reasoning to see if he could do what he did before and he started the season on fire but as you've said in just used up too much energy earlier on in the season.

The question for the DB is do we have a top ranked rider for example on 82 like Alaphillippe or have him share top spot with someone like Valverde who would be better anyway because of his mtn stat?

If the maximum is 82, I think both must be 82 (Valverde & Alaphilippe)

But remember Valverde is 3 points superior in mtn which is a major factor here. clearly Valverde is the better mtn climber but not the better hill rider.

Yeah, for this reason I told you before Alaphilippe 83 and Valverde 82

Although I don't really agree on dropping Valverde stats, I agree with the boost on Alaphilippe. Still isn't Alaphilippe overpowered on longer climbs in game when he hasn't really performed well there? He is a puncher who also does good on shorter climbs, although this seems hard to replicate in game.
Also why not increasing Woods hill stat to 79, after all we was second today. Also another thing, which i'm not really sure, do Kwiatkowski and Henao justify their hill stat for what they have done this season?

Aizak I know you did and I was just thinking aloud.

Jpgm With the Giro around the corner and Woods competing I've decided better to leave his mtn and hill stats till then. In the meantime I've boosted his STA. The 2018DB is not likely to be out before the start of the Giro anyway and better to check Woods again in the Giro. A better solution would be to raise his mtn to 78 but he needs to earn that first at the Giro.

Alaphillippe is 76 mtn which he edeserved last season more like 75 this season though but as said before risky lowering his mtn as it will effect his ability in the Ardennes races. .

Sky riders are a problem because they effectively have three leaders in these Ardennes races. I think it would be wrong to have one outright leader so it will be better to have Poels one more in mtn than Henao. While Henao has one more in hill than Poels. Kwiat is a different problem altogether due to his huge res one of the highest in game and will go in as 79 or 78 hill.

That's because this db is for 2017, not 2018.
