Praha - Karlovy Vary - Praha Preview
A stage race perfectly suited to the TT specialists, along with two flat stages to keep the sprinters interested. Stage 1 is too short to have an effect on the final GC. None of the sprinters are good enough against the clock to have a chance of a high GC finish. So it will come down to what happens on Stage 3 to determine the winner.
| Name | TT | | Coppel | 83 | | Fiedler | 83 | | Phinney | 83 | | Zmorka | 82 | | Keizer | 81 | | Vlatos | 81 | | Durbridge | 81 | | Kittel | 81 | | Gonzalez Salas | 80 | | Sütterlin | 80 | | Yatsevich | 80 | | Schädlich | 80 |
It'll be a shootout among the best TT riders in the division.
Defending champion Taylor Phinney, who won both TT stages last year, is back to defend his crown. He, along with Coppel and Fiedler (Porto - Prio), are the top favourites for the overall win.
Zmorka (Porto - Prio) is the best of the rest, giving Porto a two pronged attack for the win.
Festina also have a Plan B in the form of Vlatos. Also among the two star favourites are Keizer, Durbridge and Kittel. None of the latter three have had eye-catching in the ITT so far this season.
Gonzalez Salas, Sutterlin, Yatsevich and Schadlich will do well to get into the top 5 of the GC, but a top 10 place should be possible for them.
| Name | PRL | | Phinney | 83 | | Coppel | 83 | | Fiedler | 82 | | Zmorka | 82 | | Vlatos | 81 | | Durbridge | 81 | | Kittel | 81 | | Keizer | 81 | | Schädlich | 80 | | Stoltz | 80 | | Gonzalez Salas | 80 | | Yatsevich | 80 | | Sütterlin | 80 |
The riders in the above table will be looking to wear the leader's jersey at the end of the first stage. Once again, it is Phinney as the top favourite, along with Coppel.
| Name | FLA | SPR | ACC | | Bewley | 78 | 83 | 83 | | Swift | 74 | 84 | 82 | | Degenkolb | 76 | 84 | 81 | | Ahlstrand | 74 | 83 | 82 | | Coquard | 73 | 82 | 83 | | Guarnieri | 76 | 82 | 81 | | Kristoff | 75 | 83 | 79 | | Ciolek | 75 | 83 | 79 | | Grosu | 73 | 82 | 80 | | Stauff | 74 | 80 | 81 | | Guerao | 74 | 83 | 76 | | Zabel | 74 | 81 | 79 | | Vanderbiest | 74 | 82 | 77 | | Petit | 76 | 80 | 78 | | Van Poppel | 72 | 80 | 78 | | Ulanowski | 73 | 80 | 77 |
A lot of the top sprinters in the division have turned up here. With just two stages available for them, a lot will also return disappointed.
Swift and Degenkolb are the fastest in the field but expect a tough challenge from Bewley and Ahlstrand. The likes of Coquard and Guarnieri could also sneak one over the big guns.
The other riders who could be in contention for the sprint stages are mentioned in the table above.

If Durbridge fails again, I am in serious trouble after this month.
And i will release him for free, if he yet again misses out on a Top-10. I haven't been extraordinary lucky with TTs the past few season. Time for a change!

Top10 minimum but hopefully Keizer is doing better to get a top5 here.
Boom could surprise as well while Swift obviously for the sprints.
Looking forward to this race, which hopefully is a successful one. |

No real chance for a Top TT result from us both we have some depth with s few guys capable of Top 30.
Obviously Ahlstrand for the sprints with Stallaert as a leadout for the first time. |

Just hoping for some lucky days on the TTs with both Lucas and Mattia. A top 10, or even stealing a top 5 would be great

Sweet mother of Jesus I really need this race to be the success I hope it could be. Two new chances for my guys to finally take an ITT victory. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for the preview Abishkek!

Expectations are low, I must admit. A top 10 from Kristoff on both sprint stages will have to do, as for the GC we come here with no expectations at all.
Should be interesting at the top for the GC fight, between the world's best TTers. Then there's of course the randomness that could open the door for other 80+ riders as well. |

Everything less than two 2nd places and 2nd in the GC will be extremely dissapointing. We also need Vlatos atleast top 15, and hopefully Coquard can put up a fight for the U25 jersey until the long TT.

This was better as a classic Will cheer for Stoltz, Durbo, Bewls for and Festina to set up a close title fight Would also be nice to see Zmorka do decently

Id love that, too. So Hansen winning ahead of Stoltz is a deal, right?

I hope Sütterlin will have a good stage 4, otherwise any result in the TTs will be entirely irrelevant.
Assuming he'll s.t. there, I hope he can build on the 5th place he achieved last year, and at least fight for the Top 8. White will be impossible against Zmorka.
Ciolek will again surf wheels and try to emulate his Dauphine results, albeit against much stronger opposition. A stage podium would be great.

Not sure I'd agree with that, given his last race!
TTs could be random, Stage 4 could end all hopes. But if Stage 4 is hard, then Goos should hopefully be able to take advantage.

We really need some good results here. Come on Bewley, get some! Some lucky results for Danacik or Turek would not hurt either!

Looking forward to one of the few races we do in PT this year. In the time trials we'll probable not even noticed, but for the flat stages I have brought Guerao who'll hopefully do better than at Tirreno-Adriatico against the strong PT sprinters. |

Won't complain about a 3rd place. But Schädlich is yet another worse TT horse, who shows Durbridge how to win a timetrial..

Whoever is interested...guess Keizer just made himself available in the offseason.
Far too long I am struggling with him. His stats are already risky due to hilly stages. But he should compensate this by good TTs and solid climbing. Though that`s the theory. In reality he climbs under average and rarely has good TTs. As top5-8 favourite a 21st is clearly too bad even if the longer ITT suits him more.
Cool to see Schädlich winning though. Former rider, who used to have those kind of TTs here and there. Nice for Wiesenhof after their missed points in the Tour.
Same for tsmoha with Turbo Durbo for once. |
