Questions...

If hiring a staff member, what exactly is their level? In the spreadsheet it talks about numbers but you mention levels. And in the spreadsheet there is no difference in cost between 1+5 and 6+10 so why would i go lower?

You need to race your leaders to get fitness and form, but we don't know what the calendar is. I have a stage racer who's better a time trials, so i'd want her to peak for a stage race with a TT. But i don't know when that is, so how do i make sure i don't over/under-race Tayler now?

And again, not knowing the total number of races/race days it's hard to guess when a rider is over-raced. You say it's flexible to see how it goes, but if i send a rider to a number of early season races baking i could overrace them now not realising it's a short season.

Will we know our riders potentials, in some way, soon? In case we want to save up money for training and have to budget that in. But we don't know how valuable that is for younger riders who are still progressing.

On a couple of occasions you mention wages, but i can't see any detail on them or how they change or how they are paid, or when.

Basically, i'm rather unsure and confused about everything. I get it's a working progress but you're asking me to make decisions without really knowing how those decision will affect things going forwards.

I guess we're best advised waiting for jandal to explain everything, but as far as I understood the spreadsheet, there's just one of each staff that we all get on level 1 at the start and those are simply level-up costs similar to rider stats.

The budget you sent us, that plus prize money is all the funding right? So need to make sure to save money from that for training during the breaks?

By the way, enjoyed the preview very much.

Yes Smile

Level is the wrong word an I apologise for it. It's the number of staff you have, and it's a linear increase in affect,

You need to race your leaders to get fitness and form, but we don't know what the calendar is. I have a stage racer who's better a time trials, so i'd want her to peak for a stage race with a TT. But i don't know when that is, so how do i make sure i don't over/under-race Tayler now?

Yep this is on me, I should have finished the calendar before closing sign-ups. I will post February, March and April soon because they are done and I'll keep working on the rest quickly. For stage racers with a bigger TT, there's no reason to have a big peak in January and February, but there is South Africa early on. There are also races you win in a TT, so you could think about that. By the end of February I hope the calendar is finished, so you should have plenty of time to plan peaks over that season break.

And again, not knowing the total number of races/race days it's hard to guess when a rider is over-raced. You say it's flexible to see how it goes, but if i send a rider to a number of early season races baking i could overrace them now not realising it's a short season.

The number of total RDs will be around 90-100 spread across January-September, plus World Champs in October, which I'll reveal the route for. It's not a fixed cut-off ("now he's tired, now he isn't"Wink but I won't reveal around when it would happen - less than real life though. Riders will of course recover tiredness too - if you race 30 race days in january-march, leave it and then return in august-september you'll have no real tiredness, but you would be underdone.

Will we know our riders potentials, in some way, soon? In case we want to save up money for training and have to budget that in. But we don't know how valuable that is for younger riders who are still progressing..

The way the potential system is designed is that you don't know, but you should be able to figure it out fairly quickly - there are chances for progression and training every 2-3 months in-game. This ties in with the training tax which means that the benefits of early training aren't that big, so being unsure doesn't matter as much. The training of riders at a young age doesn't increase their max in a linear fashion - if I had a 64 climbing rider maxing (you don't know this obviously) at 84 climbing and I train him to 70, he may only increase his max to 86-ish.

On a couple of occasions you mention wages, but i can't see any detail on them or how they change or how they are paid, or when.

The total wage you would have paid by the team you signed up with was what determined your initial budget. When renewing riders for next season the wages will become more varied and dynamic.

Basically, i'm rather unsure and confused about everything. I get it's a working progress but you're asking me to make decisions without really knowing how those decision will affect things going forwards.

No problem, some of these I shuld have explained better and some are just bad decisions I've made, but it'll make me better as a host, the game better and your experience better that you pointed them out, so thank you Smile

The calendar until April is up. I will try to link the rest of the profiles when I have time, but Kobenhavn is from ICL, Zaio and Lossi are in trekbmc's stage thread, TONE in mg profiles page 5, and Ruta America in the forum search button.

Remember to start doing your January planning soon, especially Willunga Smile

Is it going to be necessary to turn up to every race, sending squads of at least 6? There's going to be some that don't suit my team - be it terrain, or practicality, where not attending would be preferable to compromising rider fitness.

Yes it is mandatory to turn up for a race with the current format, unless your team cannot make it due to the number of riders - most races will be 6 rider minimums. I'm just seeing how this goes this year, as I'm not sure how big of an issue it'll be for compromising fitness.

The categorization (A vs B) seems to be missing for some races in Feb and April in the calendar.

Going to give a deadline of 8pm on the third for South Africa and the fifth for San Luis. Will also open February later, no set deadline for that yet but best to get it done as soon as you have time.

Thanks for the efficient January planning. The reports are longer than I planned (and longer than will be normal given time issues) and therefore pace not as fast as I hoped. Deadline for Otago is the 16th at 8pm GMT, Singapore the 17th, unless anybody can't plan before then. There's been plenty of time for them though. March planning will go up this weekend if I remember

Training and Progression

"There are two ways that riders develop in this game: There is natural progression, which based on hidden potential (talents will have a higher potential naturally, whilst other young riders have it randomised somewhere below it), and training, which costs money.

These jobs take place in the off-season for natural progression, and pre-season for training (team of the past season does natural, team for next year does training), and optionally during either of the three breaks during the year. Don’t fear if you miss a break: natural progression stacks, but it is always a bit better to progress them throughout the year.

Training costs are explained further in the spreadsheet. There is also a tax on training riders until they reach their “soft max” of natural progression - at age 25. They can then be trained as normal riders, and continue to receive small bonuses for two more years. You also cannot train riders in loyalty, though happiness and years at the team affect this positively.

Natural Progression: You basically have packs for each specialty bar barodeur you can train riders in as the primary focus. However on a level from 20-50% you can add in a secondary focus. Along with this you can pick three stats to give a small boost to in the outcome of the blending formula not included in the packs (usually secondary stats)."

As you can guess, optional training and natural progression is open for the next week. Above are the details for each, below are the formats for each.

Training:

Christophe LaporteFearlessness9091$190,000
Esteban ChavesClimbing9697$245,000
Esteban ChavesClimbing9798$280,000
Total:$715,000

Remember new line for each stat, and cost is based on the target stat. Limit of two stats per rider for anything above and including the 76-80 pack.

Hayden VaillenosSprinterPuncheur50%Time Trials, Short Efforts, Mountains

Everything aside from main focus is completely optional, all riders will have the quality the same as they would with everything but it spreads and customises the training. Depending on age, pot and my development notes not every stat will be upgraded. List of focuses are the same as the specialties.

So, for every rider aged 25 or lower I send in the natural progression file and if I want to train a rider 26 or higher I send in the training file?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

No 26 and under gets natural progression but can also be trained (24 and under are taxed Smile). But yeah pretty much Pfft

Do 26 YO's get natural progression, your original rules say they hit a soft max at 25 but you note in the reply to Ollfardh 26 YO and under get natural progression/

Does a rider have to focus in their current specialty for natural progression? (I assume no since a Barodeur can't). But is their a penalty for jumping around or is it less effective. Or would the penalty just be you won't max out in your core specialty?

So for all intents and purposes a rider ages up on New Year's Eve. When they are 24 and below, they will develop naturally then hit a form of soft max between 24 and 25. They get small boosts for ages 25 and 26, and can be trained without the youth tax.

No, not at all. No penalty and it may be less effective if a climber trained in cobbles than in mountains, but only by a bit. And something like a puncheur training sprints or mountains would be equally effective in those as training puncheur. I don't have set max stats for riders due to this fluidity, but of course a climber who spents 100% of the time progressing in mountains will have a higher climbing stat than one who goes TT for half of it.
