Nice story. The skill progression rate seems toned down from PCM 15, which is good. |

I don't know what skill progression was in PCM15. This version is my first contact with PCM since 2010 edition. Yet it should be a bit faster, because now I know what mistakes I made at the start this career.

Oh it is!
Who's saying I'm not? In the future I'll probably just ride in Quebec as Montreal route is a bit to hard for me.
Well... At least I did my job which was working at the head of the group for 30 kms.

Well, as you might see, there are many changes in my calendar of racing. Almost all year of the World Tour races with only several .HC races. Also, that might be my calendar for next few years. Many starts will be the same with only few changes. I hope for some great results in the first half of the season. Especially in March/April. I will also start for the first time in the Grand Tour - Tour de France. I don't know my role yet, but probably it will be working for our sprinters and general classification leaders. I only believe I will get few breakaway chances. My last goal will be World Championship. Completely flat route, but I want to be a part of my national team. See you in Australia! |

Will do my best!
Wow, we start another season in Australia. This time as a part of Team Sky. Much better sprinters, and better leaders. First season in Sky, will be very hard to get good results.
Very big tempo for this stage. Lost a lot of energy and I had to work at the head of the group. Many great sprinters, will be hard to do the top 10 at any stage. Stage 1:
1 | Peter Sagan | Team Dimension Data | 3h15'19 | 2 | Sami Al Hamdani | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | 3 | Fernando Gaviria | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 4 | Logan Owen | JBL | s.t. | 5 | Bryan Coquard | Picard | s.t. | 6 | Jérémy Lecroq | FDJ | s.t. | 7 | Gary Parret | Team Sky | s.t. | 8 | Stan Dewulf | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 9 | Boris Vallée | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 10 | Sam Bennett | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 11 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | s.t. |
Hilly stage and also very hard one. I'm back to my domestique role. Very good result by Bardet. Stage 2:
1 | Simon Yates | Bora - Hansgrohe | 4h01'58 | 2 | Petr Vakoč | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 3 | Peter Sagan | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 4 | Romain Bardet | Team Sky | + 17 | 5 | Matteo Trentin | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 25 | 6 | Nikias Arndt | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 7 | Bryan Coquard | Picard | s.t. | 8 | Maurits Lammertink | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 9 | Jonathan Lastra | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 10 | Boris Vallée | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 16 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | s.t. |
Flat stage for sprinters. I missed my domestique role, seriously. Stage ended via the breakaway victory. Stage 3:
Another stage for sprinters. I went for the breakaway. At some point it was really close to being caught so I decided to follow an attack from someone from the break. At 6 kms left I was the only one still at the front... Stage 4:
1 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | 3h39'13 | 2 | Fernando Gaviria | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 3 | Fabio Felline | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 4 | Boris Vallée | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 5 | Jesse Kerrison | Movistar Team | s.t. | 6 | Stan Dewulf | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 7 | Logan Owen | JBL | s.t. | 8 | Jérémy Lecroq | FDJ | s.t. | 9 | Bryan Coquard | Picard | s.t. | 10 | David Wood | Team Sunweb | s.t. |
Amazing victory! Another win here in Santos Tour Down Under! I really like this race.
Two last mountains are probably to hard for me... Even as this stage is categorized as hilly. Stage 5:
1 | Simon Yates | Bora - Hansgrohe | 3h20'18 | 2 | Petr Vakoč | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 3 | Thibaut Pinot | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 4 | Alexis Vuillermoz | Total | s.t. | 5 | Peter Sagan | Team Dimension Data | + 25 | 6 | Romain Bardet | Team Sky | s.t. | 7 | Patrick Konrad | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 8 | Dylan Teuns | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 9 | Nathan Haas | Orica - Scott | s.t. | 10 | Alex Howes | JBL | + 50 | ... | ... | ... | ... | 25 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | + 1'12 |
Short flat stage? I went for the breakaway knowing how this might end. Stage 6:
1 | Marko Kump | Bahrain - Merida | 1h39'38 | 2 | Wouter Wippert | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 3 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | s.t. | 4 | Aurélien Costeplane | Total | s.t. | 5 | Hugo Hofstetter | FDJ | s.t. | 6 | Alexis Gougeard | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 7 | Piet Allegaert | Orica - Scott | s.t. | 8 | Agusti Bosch | Movistar Team | s.t. | 9 | Oliviero Troia | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | 10 | Tony Martin | Team Sunweb | s.t. |
So close for another victory!
Thanks to last stage I advanced in GC into the top 10! Very good race to open this season. Stage win and 3rd place, also 9th in GC - great!
Final General Classification:
1 | Simon Yates | Bora - Hansgrohe | 19h17'46 | 2 | Petr Vakoč | Lotto - Soudal | + 8 | 3 | Peter Sagan | Team Dimension Data | + 31 | 4 | Mikkel Bjerg | Movistar Team | + 37 | 5 | Thibaut Pinot | Quick-Step Floors | + 41 | 6 | Alexis Vuillermoz | Total | + 45 | 7 | Alex Howes | JBL | + 46 | 8 | Tanguy Turgis | Credit Agricole | + 55 | 9 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | + 1'01 | 10 | Romain Bardet | Team Sky | + 1'02 |
Now classic in Geelong. I was working at the head of the group, but I decided to save some energy for the mass sprint.
Results:
1 | Matteo Trentin | Team Katusha - Alpecin | 3h47'08 | 2 | Rudy Barbier | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 3 | Glenn Broughton | Team Sky | s.t. | 4 | Federico Zurlo | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 5 | Ander Areda | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 6 | Vincenzo Albanese | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 7 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | s.t. | 8 | David Wood | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 9 | Amaury Capiot | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 10 | Edvald Boasson Hagen | JBL | s.t. |
Pretty nice 7th place!
After January I'm on the 6th place in the UCI World Tour Individual Ranking: 265 points. Simon Yates, leader, is with 630 points. I'll be back here next year for sure! |

Indeed, I really like riding there! Maybe it's a bit to early in the season, but I like it.

I hope so too!
Last year I had my second victory that season right here. Can the history repeat itself? Probably not as my team have powerful sprinters in the lineup.
Flat stage. I was working at the head of the group. It's hard to do a train for your sprinter when he didn't want to follow you. Stage 1:
1 | Rayane Bouhanni | Picard | 2h54'46 | 2 | Vincenzo Albanese | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 3 | Nick Schultz | Team Coop | s.t. | 4 | Federico Zurlo | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 5 | Martin Laas | Delko - Marseille Provence | s.t. | 6 | Glenn Broughton | Team Sky | s.t. | 7 | Matteo Malucelli | Cannondale - Drapac | s.t. | 8 | Jason Lowndes | Orica - Scott | s.t. | 9 | Nacer Bouhanni | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 10 | Sacha Modolo | Orica - Scott | s.t. | 11 | Mark Cavendish | Team Sky | s.t. | 12 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | s.t. |
Same old stuff. Working at the head of the group and trying to do the sprint train. But... Another breakaway win. Stage 2:
1 | Neilson Powless | Movistar Team | 3h36'43 | 2 | Jhonatan Restrepo | Irancell | s.t. | 3 | Iuri Filosi | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 4 | Marco Mathis | Delko - Marseille Provence | s.t. | 5 | Sergey Chernetskiy | Liberty Seguros | s.t. | 6 | Patrick Haller | Soul - Brasil Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 7 | Matthew Nowell | UAE Team Emirates | s.t. | 8 | Florian Bissinger | Bike Aid | s.t. | 9 | Christopher Blevins | Cannondale - Drapac | s.t. | 10 | Medhi El Chokri | Dubai World | s.t. | 11 | Adil Barbari | Team Coop | s.t. | 12 | Nacer Bouhanni | Credit Agricole | + 42 | ... | ... | ... | ... | 23 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | s.t. |
More than 200 kms for the "flat" stage which isn't really flat. Second half of the stage is really hard. Stage 3:
1 | Vincenzo Albanese | Team Dimension Data | 4h41'35 | 2 | Matteo Malucelli | Cannondale - Drapac | + 24 | 3 | Sergey Chernetskiy | Liberty Seguros | s.t. | 4 | Maximilian Schachmann | Movistar Team | s.t. | 5 | Kilian Frankiny | Bike Aid | s.t. | 6 | Nacer Bouhanni | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 7 | Jhonatan Restrepo | Irancell | s.t. | 8 | Florian Bissinger | Bike Aid | s.t. | 9 | Neilson Powless | Movistar Team | s.t. | 10 | Nick Schultz | Team Coop | + 53 | ... | ... | ... | ... | 73 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | + 1'59 |
Last stage again flat. I went for the breakaway. Maybe I'll have some luck? Stage 4:
1 | Matej Mohoric | Orica - Scott | 2h32'38 | 2 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | s.t. | 3 | Eli Iserbyt | Team Coop | s.t. | 4 | Vitantonio Giacomarro | JBL | s.t. | 5 | Metkel Eyob | Bike Aid | s.t. | 6 | Niccolo Pacinotti | Team Sky | s.t. | 7 | Cesare Benedetti | UAE Team Emirates | s.t. | 8 | Kenny Molly | Dubai World | s.t. | 9 | Cyril Lerat | Soul - Brasil Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 10 | Abelardo García Tebar | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. |
So close...
Final General Classification:
1 | Jhonatan Restrepo | Irancell | 13h45'55 | 2 | Neilson Powless | Movistar Team | + 1 | 3 | Sergey Chernetskiy | Liberty Seguros | + 6 | 4 | Florian Bissinger | Bike Aid | + 8 | 5 | Vincenzo Albanese | Team Dimension Data | + 13 | 6 | Matteo Malucelli | Cannondale - Drapac | + 47 | 7 | Christopher Blevins | Cannondale - Drapac | + 50 | 8 | Nacer Bouhanni | Credit Agricole | + 53 | 9 | Kilian Frankiny | Bike Aid | s.t. | 10 | Maximilian Schachmann | Movistar Team | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 22 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | + 2'22 |
Far away in the GC. Actually only moment to remember is second place on last stage. Now return to Europe and few weeks break. Then we are going to my spring classics campaign! |

WT classic! Another points to score in the rankings. We have one of main favourites as Gianni Moscon is riding this race. We also have Luke Rowe. This is going to be fun!
50 kms to go - 16 riders in the breakaway with less than 2 minutes lead. Peloton (43 riders).
35 kms to go - 15 riders in the breakaway with only 1'08" lead. Peloton (29 riders).
20 kms to go - No breakaway! 21 riders in the first group. We have still Moscon and Stannard.
10 kms to go - A lot of attacks! Even I tried! But still full group.
5 kms to go - Few riders decided to attack. I followed them!
Results:
Holy! What a fantastic win right there! Huge group of riders tried an attack when we crossed 20kms to go. With 5kms to go I decided to follow an attack with no believing in success! What a way to win it! |

Another flat classic but much easier than Omloop. It must end via mass sprint.
Results:
1 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | 4h35'24 | 2 | Ben Swift | FDJ | s.t. | 3 | Karl Patrick Lauk | Certipost | s.t. | 4 | Michele Gazzoli | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 5 | Glenn Broughton | Team Sky | s.t. | 6 | Axel Guilbaud | FDJ | s.t. | 7 | Frederik Madsen | Total | s.t. | 8 | Amaury Capiot | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 9 | Oliver Naesen | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | s.t. | 10 | Bert Van Lerberghe | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. |
What? Am I dreaming right now?! Thank God there is a week of break before Strade Bianche, because I seriously need it! |

I really like this race. We have an amazing team with many outsiders so someone must have a good result. I'll do my best as domestique.
Results:
What a day for Team Sky! Amazing! I also somehow finished at 12th place! I have an absolutely amazing start of the season! It couldn't be any better. |

We have very strong team for this race: Majka, Henao, Bardet, Quintana... And Ewan for sprints. If we don't win, I don't know who will.
We open the race with the stage for fast punchers or sprinters who can climb on short and steep climbs. I was protecting Bardet here and he finished inside top 10. Good! Stage 1:
1 | Phil Bauhaus | Team Sunweb | 3h09'28 | 2 | Sami Al Hamdani | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | 3 | Arnaud Démare | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 4 | Maximilian Beyer | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 5 | Bryan Coquard | Picard | s.t. | 6 | Fernando Gaviria | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 7 | Romain Bardet | Team Sky | s.t. | 8 | Marcel Kittel | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 9 | Miguel Angel Lopez | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 10 | Adam Yates | Credit Agricole | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 25 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | s.t. |
This stage is for pure sprinters. Yesterday I had the chance and go for the breakaway, but I decided to help Bardet. This time... I went for it early on. Stage 2:

Third day for sprinters. Stage 3:
1 | Maximilian Beyer | Bora - Hansgrohe | 4h05'22 | 2 | Phil Bauhaus | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 3 | Fernando Gaviria | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 4 | Bryan Coquard | Picard | s.t. | 5 | Jérémy Lecroq | FDJ | s.t. | 6 | Jason Lowndes | Orica - Scott | s.t. | 7 | Arnaud Démare | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 8 | Dylan Groenewegen | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 9 | Alan Banaszek | Movistar Team | s.t. | 10 | Alexandr Kulikovskiy | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 12 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | s.t. |
Hilly ITT. Stage 4:
1 | Adrien Costa | BMC Racing Team | 23'37 | 2 | Thibaut Pinot | Quick-Step Floors | + 7 | 3 | Frits Martens | Orica - Scott | + 19 | 4 | Miguel Angel Lopez | Bora - Hansgrohe | + 26 | 5 | Pierre-Roger Latour | Credit Agricole | + 34 | 6 | Damiano Caruso | Credit Agricole | + 38 | 7 | Harm Vanhoucke | Quick-Step Floors | + 39 | 8 | Nairo Quintana | Team Sky | s.t. | 9 | Primož Roglič | Bahrain - Merida | + 40 | 10 | Warren Barguil | FDJ | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 148 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | + 3'09 |
Again the stage for sprinters. Again I went for the breakaway. Stage 5:
1 | Arnaud Démare | Quick-Step Floors | 4h31'52 | 2 | Phil Bauhaus | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 3 | Maximilian Beyer | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 4 | Jérémy Lecroq | FDJ | s.t. | 5 | Kristoffer Halvorsen | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 6 | Sami Al Hamdani | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | 7 | Jason Lowndes | Orica - Scott | s.t. | 8 | Nikias Arndt | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 9 | Alan Banaszek | Movistar Team | s.t. | 10 | Bryan Coquard | Picard | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 20 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | s.t. |
Now it's the moment of the race when I'll lose a lot of time, but a chance for our leaders to shine! Stage 6:
1 | Thibaut Pinot | Quick-Step Floors | 4h58'49 | 2 | Miguel Angel Lopez | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 3 | Rafał Majka | Team Sky | s.t. | 4 | Ondrej Cink | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | 5 | Romain Bardet | Team Sky | s.t. | 6 | Lennard Hofstede | JBL | s.t. | 7 | Pierre-Roger Latour | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 8 | Adam Yates | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 9 | Jakob Fuglsang | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 10 | Warren Barguil | FDJ | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 71 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | + 8'53 |
I don't know if it's true, but I think it might be my first ever that hard mountain stage. Seriously. Good training before Tour de France. I hope Bardet, Majka or Quintana can win this stage. Stage 7:
1 | Adrien Costa | BMC Racing Team | 5h10'22 | 2 | Thibaut Pinot | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 3 | Romain Bardet | Team Sky | s.t. | 4 | Warren Barguil | FDJ | s.t. | 5 | Miguel Angel Lopez | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 6 | Adam Yates | Credit Agricole | + 48 | 7 | Jaime Roson | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 59 | 8 | Nairo Quintana | Team Sky | + 1'15 | 9 | Rafał Majka | Team Sky | + 2'02 | 10 | Frits Martens | Orica - Scott | + 2'24 | ... | ... | ... | ... | 132 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | + 29'51 |
Last stage. Bardet is now 5th in the GC. Stage 8:
1 | Arnaud Démare | Quick-Step Floors | 2h58'51 | 2 | Nacer Bouhanni | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 3 | Lilian Calmejane | FDJ | s.t. | 4 | Jay McCarthy | Orica - Scott | s.t. | 5 | Bryan Coquard | Picard | s.t. | 6 | Anthony Turgis | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 7 | Remigiusz Swierzynski | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 8 | Gianni Moscon | Team Sky | s.t. | 9 | Harm Vanhoucke | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 10 | Romain Bardet | Team Sky | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 112 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | s.t. |
Final General Classification:
1 | Adrien Costa | BMC Racing Team | 29h18'36 | 2 | Thibaut Pinot | Quick-Step Floors | + 3 | 3 | Miguel Angel Lopez | Bora - Hansgrohe | + 28 | 4 | Warren Barguil | FDJ | + 46 | 5 | Romain Bardet | Team Sky | + 47 | 6 | Adam Yates | Credit Agricole | + 1'34 | 7 | Nairo Quintana | Team Sky | + 2'00 | 8 | Rafał Majka | Team Sky | + 3'04 | 9 | Pierre-Roger Latour | Credit Agricole | + 3'20 | 10 | Ondrej Cink | Bahrain - Merida | + 4'03 | ... | ... | ... | ... | 102 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | + 47'39 |
This race was a really hard training before my first start in Tour de France. It will be really hard to finish inside time limit on some MT stages. Good to see 3 of our leaders inside top 10, but I expected Bardet to be at least on the podium. |

Last year I was 3rd here. I don't know how, but I was.
200 kms to go - 10 riders in the breakaway - 5'53" lead
120 kms to go - 10 riders in the breakaway - 3'44" lead
60 kms to go - 10 riders in the breakaway - 2'29" lead
30 kms to go - 10 riders in the breakaway - 1'35" lead
10 kms to go - Only 4 riders in the breakaway - 49" lead; we are starting Poggio
5 kms to go - I'm too far to repeat 3rd place from last year, mass sprint is coming up
Results:
1 | Arnaud Démare | Quick-Step Floors | 6h21'07 | 2 | Thomas Boudat | Cannondale - Drapac | s.t. | 3 | Sami Al Hamdani | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | 4 | Marcel Franz | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | s.t. | 5 | Maximilian Beyer | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 6 | Jesús Herrada | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 7 | Alberto Bettiol | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 8 | Michael Gogl | Picard | s.t. | 9 | Ian Stannard | Team Sky | s.t. | 10 | Jonas Duurhuus | Team Sky | s.t. |
10th place is good result especially that I was really bad positioned in the mass sprint. Last year was absolutely amazing, this time, only good. Sometimes you are 3rd, sometimes you are 10th. |
