Can anybody sufficiently explain to me how Arnaud Demare finishes with 12 sprint points in a stage race with 5 bunch sprints, of which several were very selective and started in a good position? Anybody?
I'm not sure I've ever been this disappointed by this AI and it has done some REALLY messed up things in the past. The GC even looks half-decent in the end (besides Felline losing a ridiculous amount of time), but single-digits rankings points from 8 stage results is appalling.
Thank god I didn't just train Demare once for fun, otherwise I'd be even more pissed off.
Declerq also obviously not interested to save this race, even though Hoelgaard would've been tough to beat.
Thanks to the winners, commiseration to the crash victims, great reports Aquarius, now everyone never mention this race again in my life kthxbye.

@cio: that is PCM15 how we love and live it - feel very sorry for you, as 3 stage wins should've been possible with this racing and you got nothing out of it...

This race was quite the rollercoaster for us. Yes, stage 7 ruined our GC. But how can I be unhappy about a tour where we won 25% of the stages? Also that last stage actually made both Ginanni and Kangert re-enter the top 15 and we got second in team GC.
So all in all a decent result for Gazelle.
Congrats to Pendleton on the surprising Lutsenko win. Impressive he pulled that off against Bakelants, Trofimov and Ponzi.
And thanks for the great reporting work Aquarius!

What a weird unselective race really, really hope this isnt a sign of what to come laiter this season.
Atleast it had one stage with proper gaps, otherwise this could have been a disaster. Luckily this is the only Ponzi race with bad support, which turned out to be a giant planning mistake here, something that was very visible when looking at Strava and their results.
Congratz to Lutsenko and Pendleton for the impressive Win.

First of all, thanks for the reports. They were good despite what happened on the road.
Would have loved to see more attacks by Skujins but 7th in GC is just about okay. The second place on the final stage helps me accepting this race as a solid one for the team. But seeing how the other two races of the triple header went, I should have scored more in them.
Hate to see Demare doing this bad. Love those hilly sprinters and despite feuding a bit at times, I'd love to see him do better! Should have gotten two stage wins out of this race.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Wow, this race gave us much more then we expected, sure Ahlstrand could have done it better but Haugaard Jensen finish in 8th is really impressive by him despite Blikra crashing out on a top 50 GC place we got Robov at 23rd and Reimer at 31st which is good.
It was a weird race with some dissapointing result for some guys, feel sorry mostly cio about Demare failure.
We handle this trippleclash quite good, with Wellens 12th in T-A, Bystrom 13rd in Grand-Duché and KHJ 8th here. Have not really couted any pts so will be fun whenever the next update comes how we look.
Thanks for this doubleraces report! |

@SotD I didn't try to minimize your points lose, just to point out that Moser has also been affected by crashes in the last stage, and hence your point lose to Moser is not that big
Yeah, but I never said anything about that. I said that my chances of closing the gap went to the ground. I was looking to get a top 10 and a top 20, and instead got 15th and 36th. Moser was leading the PT by ~220 points over me deducting the Paris-Nice. And we were talking about getting those differences down to 100-150 points, which would have been achieved if we had gotten f.e. 10th and 20th in the GC.
But nevermind. It was a moment of frustration, and I'm OK with the fact that points were lost here. It has been a strange race, even for PCM.

He is depressed by the fact that he isn't riding for a french team. I'll help you in the next window and show you that it was the reason.

GC wise and stage result wise, this is a race that will be quickly forgotten. But seeing Hoelgaard's heroics on the final stage, bringing home the KoM jersey at least makes up for some of it It also looked like a stage for the breakaway, but unfortunately the Spotify/Aker combination up at the front wasn't strong enough to survive. Would certainly have been fun to see Robov and Hoelgaard go head-to-head in a sprint for the win as well.
Eventhough the gaps in the GC are big, it felt like a very non-selective race, with the obvious key to success being to not have any bad day. Beltran failed there, but cool to see a rider like Lutsenko run away with the win. Congratulations!
Also thank you for the reports, Aquarius97. Truly love the pace the season has been started at, and hopefully it will continue for a long time |

I really enjoyed the racing and the reports from Paris-Nice. Guess that it finally paid off training Lutsenko after an impressive performance. Must admit I am a bit surprised not to have seen the pack shatter on more of the stages though.

Off the fucking chain Never really expected that but more than makes up for a no-show in Badaling. One of my favourite races and already the site of maybe our best result when Dan Martin won here. May this form continue. Thanks very much for the reports Aquarius.

A good experience for us with our first PT top 10's and a solid GC for Gautier in the end as well.

I'm glad this crazy race is over. Reis dropping from 20th to 40th is quite a shame. Not that it would ever be relevant, but again it's a shame. There are a good amount of lessons to be learned from this triple header.
Pendleton with an impressive victory in a quite respectful field. Congrats wacko!
Commiserations to everyone else, and thanks Aquarius, for your contributions!

Nice podium result for Van der Lijke on Stage 5, although very surprised to see Swift winning it! Nice bit of fun to see Eritel riding hard, for no apparent reason.
Stage 7 even better for Berhane and Kudus. Probably a sign that there was some mountain influence, also with the stage killing off any vague Van der Lijke Top 20 GC hopes.
And with Stage 8 ending the race, can be very happy with Eritel's efforts. 10th for Kudus exceeds expectations, and nice to see Berhane making a Top 20 too.
Congrats to Pendleton's for Lutsenko's much stronger race than earlier season efforts, and thanks to Aquarius for the reports.

I´m happy with 9th overall. Very impressive result considering the fact Izagirre was mentioned only once during four hilly stages when "Izagirre, after yesterday’s incredible TT, has been dropped in the final kms"
Thanks for great reporting Aquarius. Congrats wacko!
