It seems to be better now
I started this prologue last from my team. My goal was to finish in the top 30. Stage 1:
1 | Taylor Phinney | Quick-Step Floors | 9'09 | 2 | Primož Roglič | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 3 | Salvatore Puccio | Bora - Hansgrohe | + 1 | 4 | Baptiste Planckaert | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 5 | Hoa Heubach | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 6 | Stefan De Bod | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 7 | Edward Planckaert | AGO - Aqua Service | s.t. | 8 | Robbe Casier | Aeromobil | s.t. | 9 | Simon Sellier | BFM TV | s.t. | 10 | Tony Martin | Team Sunweb | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 150 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 7 |
I think I still don't know how to properly manage my resources...
This time I had to create a sprint train for our leader B. Welter. Also, working at the head of the group for at least 25 kms. Stage 2:
1 | Marcel Franz | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | 3h36'02 | 2 | Fabio Jakobsen | Dura | s.t. | 3 | Rudy Barbier | Total | s.t. | 4 | Dylan Page | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 5 | Christian Koch | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 6 | Timé Di Stefani | Telenet - Fidea Lions | s.t. | 7 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 8 | Bram Welten | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 9 | Maximilien Picoux | Omega Pharma | s.t. | 10 | Enzo Wouters | JBL | s.t. |
Well, he wasn't that good as I expected. Where have you been when I tried to do a train for you?
Not much, but there are some cobbles right here. I'll try my best! Stage 3:
1 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | 4h24'24 | 2 | Fabio Jakobsen | Dura | s.t. | 3 | Marcel Franz | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | s.t. | 4 | Jens Keukeleire | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | s.t. | 5 | Rudy Barbier | Total | s.t. | 6 | Timothy Dupont | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 7 | Christian Koch | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 8 | Dylan Page | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 9 | Bram Welten | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 10 | Enzo Wouters | JBL | s.t. |
On the last two sections I decided to put higher tempo. Just 5 kms from the finish I had about 30" lead. At the end I got lucky. If the finish would have been even 100m further... I would not win!
Very hard hilly stage... Yet, I was still in the group of favourites just 10 kms from the finish. Stage 4:
1 | Patrick Konrad | Lotto - Soudal | 5h12'53 | 2 | Diego Ulissi | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 3 | Tim Wellens | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 4 | Primož Roglič | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 5 | Ruben Guerreiro | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 6 | Bauke Mollema | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 7 | Nils Politt | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 8 | Tony Martin | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 9 | Michael Valgren | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 10 | Felix Becker | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 18 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
Last stage, flat, and I'm 3rd in GC now! Stage 5:
1 | Gaetan Bille | JBL | 3h46'34 | 2 | Jonathan Lastra | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 3 | Emiel Vermeulen | Telenet - Fidea Lions | s.t. | 4 | Chien Liang Cheng | AGO - Aqua Service | s.t. | 5 | Ruben Apers | Beobank - Corendon | s.t. | 6 | Stijn Steels | Aeromobil | s.t. | 7 | Simon Sellier | BFM TV | s.t. | 8 | Marcel Franz | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | s.t. | 9 | Dylan Page | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 10 | Christian Koch | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 13 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
Final General Classification:
1 | Fabio Jakobsen | Dura | 17h08'53 | 2 | Patrick Konrad | Lotto - Soudal | + 1 | 3 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 6 | 4 | Primož Roglič | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 9 | 5 | Tim Wellens | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 6 | Diego Ulissi | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 7 | Salvatore Puccio | Bora - Hansgrohe | + 10 | 8 | Baptiste Planckaert | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 9 | Tony Martin | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 10 | Bauke Mollema | Team Sunweb | + 11 |
Final Points Classification:
1 | Marcel Franz | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | 8 | 49 | 2 | Fabio Jakobsen | Dura | 4 | 44 | 3 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | 3 | 37 | 4 | Primož Roglič | Team Katusha - Alpecin | 0 | 34 | 5 | Dylan Page | BMC Racing Team | 7 | 29 |
Another very good race for me, and another 3rd place in GC! Can I do a hat-trick in Luxembourg? |

Looking for another 3rd place in the GC?
Another race with five stages. 22nd last year. Hat-trick of third places in GC?
Short prologue, my objective: top 30. Stage 1:
1 | Jarlinson Pantano | Dura | 7'40 | 2 | Primož Roglič | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 1 | 3 | Lennard Kämna | Quick-Step Floors | + 4 | 4 | Jan Bakelants | Lotto - Soudal | + 7 | 5 | Damiano Caruso | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 6 | Tony Martin | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 7 | Nelson Oliveira | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 8 | 8 | Neilson Powless | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 9 | Ion Izagirre | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 9 | 10 | Pedro Sequera | BFM TV | + 12 | ... | ... | ... | ... | 63 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 28 |
Breakaway? Not this time. Team wanted it, but I think it will be better to save my energy for last kms. Stage 2:
4th place? I'll take that.
Stage with some hills. Stage 3:
1 | Gary Parret | JBL | 4h50'10 | 2 | Carlos Barbero | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 3 | Jérémy Lecroq | FDJ | s.t. | 4 | Damiano Caruso | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 5 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 6 | Ion Izagirre | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 7 | Primož Roglič | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 8 | Sean De Bie | JBL | s.t. | 9 | Moreno Moser | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 10 | Nelson Oliveira | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. |
5th place now? I'll take that too.
Another hard hilly stage. 25th place in GC, but 5th in PC. Stage 4:
1 | Patrick Müller | JBL | 4h12'49 | 2 | Lennard Kämna | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 3 | Jhonatan Narvaez | Certipost | s.t. | 4 | Gary Parret | JBL | s.t. | 5 | Jérémy Lecroq | FDJ | s.t. | 6 | Carlos Moratón | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 7 | Damiano Caruso | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 8 | Andrea Fedi | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 9 | Primož Roglič | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 10 | Jarlinson Pantano | Dura | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 17 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
Yeah. I was not the smartest guy right there... I started my sprint to early.
Last stage! This time I will not be 3rd in GC, but I can't say it was a bad race. Rather... not quite good from tactics values. Stage 5:
1 | Jérémy Lecroq | FDJ | 4h02'31 | 2 | Gary Parret | JBL | s.t. | 3 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 4 | Tim Ariesen | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 5 | Ludwig Bengtsson | Team Differdange - Losch | s.t. | 6 | Harry Tanfield | Dura | s.t. | 7 | Max Walscheid | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 8 | Laurens De Vreese | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 9 | Moreno Hofland | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 10 | Jasper De Buyst | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. |
This time 3rd place. Quite good result at the end of this race.
Final General Classification:
1 | Gary Parret | JBL | 17h55'42 | 2 | Lennard Kämna | Quick-Step Floors | + 10 | 3 | Jarlinson Pantano | Dura | + 12 | 4 | Primož Roglič | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 13 | 5 | Damiano Caruso | Credit Agricole | + 19 | 6 | Jan Bakelants | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 7 | Tony Martin | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 8 | Pedro Sequera | BFM TV | + 24 | 9 | Andrey Amador | BFM TV | + 25 | 10 | Jhonatan Narvaez | Certipost | + 30 | ... | ... | ... | ... | 12 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 36 |
Final Points Classification:
1 | Gary Parret | JBL | 20 | 86 | 2 | Jérémy Lecroq | FDJ | 25 | 53 | 3 | Damiano Caruso | Credit Agricole | 0 | 47 | 4 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | 16 | 42 | 5 | Primož Roglič | Team Katusha - Alpecin | 4 | 40 |
Not that good race as previous two, but few top-5s are very good things. See you in Germany for another one day classic! |

Flat classic but with some really hard mountains. I have two things to do: breakaway and to finish in the top 30. I think I will go for a mass sprint .
Results:
1 | António Carvalho | Rádio Popular - Boavista | 4h55'29 | 2 | Remond Van Heiningen | Achleitner | s.t. | 3 | Eder Frayre | Bike Aid | s.t. | 4 | Niklas Larsen | Team VéloConcept | s.t. | 5 | Riccardo Cenghialta | Team Differdange - Losch | s.t. | 6 | Lukas Löer | Tirol Cycling Team | s.t. | 7 | Lucas Liss | Team Lotto - Kern Haus | s.t. | 8 | Łukasz Wiśniowski | Israel Cycling Academy | s.t. | 9 | Kristoffer Halvorsen | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 10 | Damien Touze | Cofidis, Solutions Crédits | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 12 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
Breakaway...
Yet another stage race with five stages. Another one starts with another prologue. Stage 1:
1 | Lennard Kämna | Quick-Step Floors | 5'59 | 2 | Edward Theuns | Lotto - Soudal | + 2 | 3 | Ivar Slik | Team Sunweb | + 4 | 4 | Jonathan Breyne | Superior | + 5 | 5 | Louis Vervaeke | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 6 | Hoa Heubach | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 7 | Moreno Hofland | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 8 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 9 | Oscar Riesebeek | Vacansoleil | + 6 | 10 | Claudio Imhof | Team Differdange - Losch | s.t. |
Pretty good prologue for me. Finally I can say.
Welten is one of the biggest favourites for this stage. I'll do my best to provide him the best possible position for mass sprint. Stage 2:
Almost not mass sprint:
But 5th place? Great!
1 | Karl Patrick Lauk | Certipost | 3h24'47 | 2 | Gürkan Gobet | JBL | s.t. | 3 | André Looij | Vacansoleil | s.t. | 4 | Lennard Kämna | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 5 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 6 | Rok Korosec | Certipost | s.t. | 7 | Amaury Capiot | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 8 | Jonas Van Genechten | Certipost | s.t. | 9 | Gaetan Bille | JBL | s.t. | 10 | Wouter Wippert | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
Long stage... I'll protect my 5th place in GC as I'm "leader outsider". Stage 3:
1 | Karl Patrick Lauk | Certipost | 5h05'19 | 2 | Ander Areda | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 3 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 4 | André Looij | Vacansoleil | s.t. | 5 | Bram Welten | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 6 | Fabio Jakobsen | Dura | s.t. | 7 | Lennard Kämna | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 8 | Amaury Capiot | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 9 | Jasper De Laat | Roompot - Nederlandse Loterij | s.t. | 10 | Louis Vervaeke | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. |
Another 3rd place! I'm going wild!
Hard hills close to the finish. Might be not easy to finish in the main group. Stage 4:
1 | Jempy Drucker | JBL | 4h53'56 | 2 | Edward Theuns | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 3 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 4 | Gürkan Gobet | JBL | s.t. | 5 | Baptiste Planckaert | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 6 | Ander Areda | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 7 | Anders Mandrup | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 8 | Joeri Stallaert | Dura | s.t. | 9 | Karl Patrick Lauk | Certipost | s.t. | 10 | Stefan Kreder | Delta Cycling Rotterdam | s.t. |
Yet another 3rd place?! Ohh, that's hot in here!
Flat last stage. I'll do everything to protect my 2nd place in GC. Stage 5:
1 | Sander Armee | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | 3h47'39 | 2 | André Looij | Vacansoleil | s.t. | 3 | Tom Thill | Team Differdange - Losch | s.t. | 4 | Gürkan Gobet | JBL | s.t. | 5 | Ander Areda | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 6 | Fabio Jakobsen | Dura | s.t. | 7 | Higinio Millar | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | s.t. | 8 | Gian Friesecke | Certipost | s.t. | 9 | Sieben Wouters | SEG Racing Academy | s.t. | 10 | Stefan Kreder | Delta Cycling Rotterdam | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 16 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
Final General Classification:
1 | Karl Patrick Lauk | Certipost | 17h17'35 | 2 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 2 | 3 | Jempy Drucker | JBL | + 3 | 4 | Lennard Kämna | Quick-Step Floors | + 5 | 5 | Ander Areda | Lotto - Soudal | + 10 | 6 | Louis Vervaeke | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 7 | Ethan Hayter | Quick-Step Floors | + 13 | 8 | Mattia Cattaneo | Dura | s.t. | 9 | Jeroen Meijers | Metec - TKH p/b Mantel | + 14 | 10 | Sven Erik Bystrom | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. |
Final Points Classification:
1 | Karl Patrick Lauk | Certipost | 0 | 57 | 2 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | 0 | 52 | 3 | Lennard Kämna | Quick-Step Floors | 0 | 50 | 4 | André Looij | Vacansoleil | 20 | 50 | 5 | Gürkan Gobet | JBL | 14 | 50 |
I'm actually pretty impressed with that. Brilliant 2nd place in GC and also in PC. I love that! |

A 3rd placed GC finish and now a 2nd place GC finish so that means...................a 1st placed GC finish next time round (possibly) |

Well... I think it might happen, but not now... Maybe in future?
Flat classic in Belgium. Last before the break and contract signing with another team. Yes, I'll leave TEAM Philips after 2 years. I'm really grateful for the chance they gave me.
Of course there were teams that were interested in signing me few days after 1st of July. I'm not wasting any time. Can you guess my next team?
Results:
1 | Zico Waeytens | Quick-Step Floors | 3h32'33 | 2 | Fridtjof Roinas | Aeromobil | s.t. | 3 | Karl Patrick Lauk | Certipost | s.t. | 4 | Fabio Jakobsen | Dura | s.t. | 5 | Jonathan Breyne | Superior | s.t. | 6 | Bram Welten | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 7 | Logan Owen | JBL | s.t. | 8 | Sjors Dekker | Destil - Jo Piels Cycling Team | s.t. | 9 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 10 | Edward Theuns | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. |
I had to finish in the top 50. Mission accomplished! |

For now
I'm even one of the favourites! Top 30 is my goal. Seems not that hard.
Results:
1 | Michael Jacob | Aeromobil | 4h25'27 | 2 | Alexander Foliforov | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 3 | Ike Groen | Monkey Town Continental Team | s.t. | 4 | Brian Kamstra | SEG Racing Academy | s.t. | 5 | Thomas Van Opstal | Telenet - Fidea Lions | s.t. | 6 | Johannes De Paepe | Superior | s.t. | 7 | Jens Debusschere | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 8 | Yannick Peeters | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | s.t. | 9 | Jonas Castrique | JBL | + 1'29 | 10 | Kenneth Vanbilsen | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 14 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
Wow, those climbs with cobbles were really hard! Very selective. But what I can do when there is the breakaway with one rider from my team? Not much. |

I had to be a part of the sprint train for Wippert. But for this race I'm also a free element. I'll fight for another great performance! Stage 1:
Wooo... That's going to be really hard stage. A lot of KotM sprints. Very hilly. A lot of great riders too. If they put a big tempo... I'll be in trouble. Stage 2:
1 | Jasper Stuyven | Quick-Step Floors | 5h16'17 | 2 | Mathieu Van Der Poel | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 3 | Ben Hermans | JBL | s.t. | 4 | Louis Vervaeke | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 5 | Jonathan Lastra | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 6 | Sven Erik Bystrom | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 7 | Pieter Serry | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 8 | James Oram | Omega Pharma | s.t. | 9 | Nelson Oliveira | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 10 | Alexander Foliforov | TEAM Philips | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 43 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 5'24 |
I lost the contact with main group at about 20 kms before the finish.
Another stage classified as hilly, but not that hard as previous one. I'll try my best in a sprint. If there will be one. Stage 3:
1 | Jens Debusschere | Lotto - Soudal | 4h01'42 | 2 | Charlie Arimont | AGO - Aqua Service | s.t. | 3 | Rok Korosec | Certipost | s.t. | 4 | Tom Boonen | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 5 | Jasper Stuyven | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 6 | Pieter Vanspeybrouck | Beobank - Corendon | s.t. | 7 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 8 | Maarten Craeghs | Omega Pharma | s.t. | 9 | Julien Vermote | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 10 | Kenny Molly | Omega Pharma | s.t. |
With 70kms left I was the part of massive crash. 45 riders were involved. Thankfully I'm okay.
This time flat stage. Mass finish? Stage 4:
Nope... Breakaway.
Can this ends via mass sprint or not? Stage 5:
1 | Jasper Stuyven | Quick-Step Floors | 3h05'21 | 2 | Milan Veltman | Roompot - Nederlandse Loterij | s.t. | 3 | Maarten Craeghs | Omega Pharma | s.t. | 4 | Thomas Van Opstal | Telenet - Fidea Lions | s.t. | 5 | Maxime Farazijn | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | s.t. | 6 | Brian Van Goethem | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 7 | Ben Hermans | JBL | s.t. | 8 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 9 | Tyler Williams | Dura | s.t. | 10 | Rok Korosec | Certipost | s.t. |
Barely. Stuyven won from the peloton, but almost all other top-10s were from the breakaway.
Final General Classification:
1 | Jasper Stuyven | Quick-Step Floors | 20h26'05 | 2 | Mathieu Van Der Poel | Team Sunweb | + 20 | 3 | Ben Hermans | JBL | + 22 | 4 | Sven Erik Bystrom | Lotto - Soudal | + 26 | 5 | Jonathan Lastra | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 6 | Alejandro Valverde | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 7 | James Oram | Omega Pharma | s.t. | 8 | Pieter Serry | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 9 | Jonas Castrique | JBL | s.t. | 10 | Pieter Vanspeybrouck | Beobank - Corendon | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 35 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 5'50 |
Not that good race. Few top-10s are good, of course. But I expected something better. |

Still few more hard races to come.
Last year was amazing here. My first ever victory in the World Tour, many other great results. My goal for this part of the season. I hope I'll hold my fitness peak until BinckBank Tour. And I hope it will not ends again with serious injury that will end my season. I'm free element here.
Streets in Warsaw! Short stage to open Tour de Pologne! Stage 1:
1 | Andrea Fedi | Quick-Step Floors | 3h02'28 | 2 | Julien Simon | BFM TV | s.t. | 3 | Alex Kirsch | JBL | s.t. | 4 | Marco Haller | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 5 | Lucas Gaday | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 6 | Dylan Page | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 7 | Sami Al Hamdani | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | 8 | Mikkel Frolich Honoré | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 9 | Marko Kump | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | 10 | Christophe Laporte | FDJ | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 13 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
Next stage is another not that long one. Now rounds of Katowice. Stage 2:
What a show of power! I totally didn't expect that!
1 | Dylan Page | BMC Racing Team | 3h15'34 | 2 | Lucas Gaday | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 3 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 4 | Michael Schwarzmann | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 5 | Sami Al Hamdani | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | 6 | Marco Haller | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 7 | Marko Kump | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | 8 | Matteo Malucelli | Cannondale - Drapac | s.t. | 9 | Logan Owen | JBL | s.t. | 10 | Yevgeniy Gidich | Astana Pro Team | s.t. |
From less than 150 kms to 240 kms! Pure Poland! Stage 3:
1 | Marco Haller | Bora - Hansgrohe | 5h25'50 | 2 | Matteo Malucelli | Cannondale - Drapac | s.t. | 3 | Yevgeniy Gidich | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | 4 | Dylan Page | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 5 | Sami Al Hamdani | Bahrain - Merida | s.t. | 6 | Christophe Laporte | FDJ | s.t. | 7 | Logan Owen | JBL | s.t. | 8 | Daniel McLay | Aqua Blue Sport | s.t. | 9 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 10 | Alexey Lutsenko | Team Dimension Data | s.t. |
Again more than 200 kms here! I'm slowly getting tired. Will I have enough energy for BinckBank Tour? Stage 4:
1 | Marco Haller | Bora - Hansgrohe | 4h58'45 | 2 | Christophe Laporte | FDJ | s.t. | 3 | Matteo Malucelli | Cannondale - Drapac | + 26 | 4 | Ander Areda | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 5 | Carlos Moratón | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 6 | Yevgeniy Gidich | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | 7 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 8 | Logan Owen | JBL | s.t. | 9 | Ramunas Navardauskas | Orica - Scott | s.t. | 10 | Lucas Gaday | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | s.t. |
I tried to attack at 6kms from the finish. No more energy, but enough for Haller and Laporte.
Last year I somehow survived all those climbs. Can I repeat that this year? Stage 5:
1 | Ramunas Navardauskas | Orica - Scott | 6h10'59 | 2 | Marco Haller | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 3 | Jesús Herrada | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 4 | Matteo Malucelli | Cannondale - Drapac | s.t. | 5 | Alexey Lutsenko | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 6 | David Gaudu | FDJ | s.t. | 7 | Ben Hermans | JBL | s.t. | 8 | Tosh Van Der Sande | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 9 | Primož Roglič | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 10 | Moreno Moser | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 51 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 5'01 |
Not really. I lost touch with 30 kms left.
Another hard hilly stage. I think I'll save my energy for last stage. Stage 6:
1 | Harm Vanhoucke | Quick-Step Floors | 4h52'07 | 2 | Alexey Lutsenko | Team Dimension Data | + 33 | 3 | Primož Roglič | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 4 | Rohan Dennis | Orica - Scott | s.t. | 5 | Tosh Van Der Sande | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 6 | Silvan Dillier | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 7 | Toshio Hayashi | Irancell | s.t. | 8 | David Gaudu | FDJ | + 1'04 | 9 | Jesús Herrada | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 1'13 | 10 | Michael Valgren | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 97 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 14'21 |
An ITT. Is a top 50 possible as team is expecting? Stage 7:
1 | Rohan Dennis | Orica - Scott | 30'58 | 2 | Primož Roglič | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 9 | 3 | Toshio Hayashi | Irancell | + 12 | 4 | Théry Schir | BMC Racing Team | + 16 | 5 | Tim Daschner | Team Sunweb | + 19 | 6 | Moreno Moser | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 26 | 7 | Jesús Herrada | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 27 | 8 | Pierre-Roger Latour | Credit Agricole | + 30 | 9 | Matthias Brändle | Movistar Team | + 32 | 10 | Silvan Dillier | BMC Racing Team | + 33 | ... | ... | ... | ... | 39 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 1'14 |
Oh damn, it's possible!
Final General Classification:
1 | Rohan Dennis | Orica - Scott | 28h17'40 | 2 | Primož Roglič | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 5 | 3 | Toshio Hayashi | Irancell | + 12 | 4 | Harm Vanhoucke | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 5 | Alexey Lutsenko | Team Dimension Data | + 38 | 6 | Jesús Herrada | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 59 | 7 | David Gaudu | FDJ | + 1'16 | 8 | Ramunas Navardauskas | Orica - Scott | + 1'22 | 9 | Tosh Van Der Sande | Lotto - Soudal | + 1'23 | 10 | Silvan Dillier | BMC Racing Team | + 1'45 | ... | ... | ... | ... | 75 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 19'59 |
Last year was amazing here. A stage win and points classification winner. This year only few top-10 places. Sometimes it's better, sometimes it's not. |

My last stage race this season. Next there will only be some classics.
No real mountains in this race. Some hills later on, but we start with many flat terrain. Not really hard at all. Stage 1:
1 | Niccolo Bonifazio | Team Katusha - Alpecin | 3h57'08 | 2 | Sam Bennett | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 3 | Bryan Coquard | BFM TV | s.t. | 4 | Federico Zurlo | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 5 | Marco Haller | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 6 | Daniel McLay | Aqua Blue Sport | s.t. | 7 | Marcel Franz | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | s.t. | 8 | Milan Menten | Cofidis, Solutions Crédits | s.t. | 9 | Fernando Gaviria | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 10 | Enzo Wouters | JBL | s.t. | 11 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
An ITT. Stage 2:
1 | Maximilian Schachmann | Movistar Team | 12'14 | 2 | Jonathan Dibben | Aqua Blue Sport | + 1 | 3 | Michael Hepburn | Team Sky | + 4 | 4 | Ian Stannard | Team Sky | + 5 | 5 | Sergey Chernetskiy | Gazprom - RusVelo | + 7 | 6 | Johan Le Bon | FDJ | s.t. | 7 | Alexander Edmondson | Orica - Scott | s.t. | 8 | Martijn Keizer | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 9 | Thomas De Gendt | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 10 | Tom Bohli | JBL | + 8 | ... | ... | ... | ... | 25 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 14 |
"Flat as the table". Stage 3:
1 | Maurits Lammertink | Team Sunweb | 3h43'50 | 2 | Robin Stenuit | Certipost | s.t. | 3 | Jacopo Guarnieri | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 4 | Olivier Le Gac | FDJ | s.t. | 5 | Gijs Van Hoecke | Cannondale - Drapac | s.t. | 6 | Jan Bakelants | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 7 | Mathieu Burgaudeau | Cofidis, Solutions Crédits | s.t. | 8 | Garikoitz Bravo | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | 9 | Niccolo Bonifazio | Team Katusha - Alpecin | + 1'04 | 10 | Bryan Coquard | BFM TV | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 15 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
Freaking breakaway...
Few cobble sections. I'm predicting mass sprint easly. Unless breakaway... Stage 4:
1 | Arnaud Démare | Quick-Step Floors | 4h24'10 | 2 | Bryan Coquard | BFM TV | s.t. | 3 | Robin Stenuit | Certipost | s.t. | 4 | Maurits Lammertink | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 5 | Daniel Oss | Team Sky | s.t. | 6 | Niccolo Bonifazio | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 7 | Maximilian Schachmann | Movistar Team | s.t. | 8 | Nathan Haas | Orica - Scott | s.t. | 9 | John Degenkolb | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 10 | Luciano Barcala | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 20 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
I was too far to make good place at the end.
TTT. Stage 5:
1 | Etor Monsalvete | Movistar Team | 28'07 | 2 | Gorka Izagirre | Movistar Team | s.t. | 3 | Rafael Valls | Movistar Team | s.t. | 4 | Maximilian Schachmann | Movistar Team | s.t. | 5 | Diego Rubio | Movistar Team | s.t. | 6 | Guillem Cassu | Movistar Team | + 11 | 7 | Tom Scully | Gazprom - RusVelo | + 14 | 8 | Stepan Kurianov | Gazprom - RusVelo | s.t. | 9 | Carlos Betancur | Gazprom - RusVelo | s.t. | 10 | Ilya Koshevoy | Gazprom - RusVelo | s.t. | 11 | Sergey Chernetskiy | Gazprom - RusVelo | s.t. | 12 | Martijn Keizer | TEAM Philips | + 17 | 13 | Peter Lenderink | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 14 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 15 | Lars Boom | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 16 | Justin Rosalia | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
Pretty nice result.
A bit harder stage but still flat. Stage 6:
1 | Thomas De Gendt | Lotto - Soudal | 4h05'25 | 2 | Alexis Gougeard | Credit Agricole | s.t. | 3 | Sander Armee | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | s.t. | 4 | Florian Sénéchal | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 5 | Enrico Barbin | Cannondale - Drapac | s.t. | 6 | Ziga Groselj | Certipost | s.t. | 7 | Gianni Vermeersch | Cofidis, Solutions Crédits | s.t. | 8 | Edmund Bradbury | Aqua Blue Sport | s.t. | 9 | Julius Johansen | BFM TV | s.t. | 10 | Ivar Slik | Team Sunweb | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 21 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
Last stage and the most important one. Everything will decide right here. Stage 7:
1 | Arnaud Démare | Quick-Step Floors | 4h19'45 | 2 | Jasper Stuyven | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 3 | Niccolo Bonifazio | Team Katusha - Alpecin | s.t. | 4 | John Degenkolb | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 5 | Garikoitz Bravo | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | 6 | Maurits Lammertink | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 7 | Bryan Coquard | BFM TV | s.t. | 8 | Sam Bennett | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 9 | Robin Stenuit | Certipost | s.t. | 10 | Sergey Chernetskiy | Gazprom - RusVelo | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 31 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 1'21 |
I was not feeling well. Maybe it's my tiredness? Probably.
Final General Classification:
1 | Maurits Lammertink | Team Sunweb | 21h11'33 | 2 | Maximilian Schachmann | Movistar Team | + 10 | 3 | Garikoitz Bravo | Astana Pro Team | + 14 | 4 | Robin Stenuit | Certipost | + 19 | 5 | Gijs Van Hoecke | Cannondale - Drapac | + 24 | 6 | Mathieu Burgaudeau | Cofidis, Solutions Crédits | + 26 | 7 | Sergey Chernetskiy | Gazprom - RusVelo | + 31 | 8 | Arnaud Démare | Quick-Step Floors | + 32 | 9 | Jan Bakelants | Lotto - Soudal | + 33 | 10 | Gaetan Bille | JBL | + 37 | ... | ... | ... | ... | 29 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 2'02 |
I was expecting something slightly better. I think I seriously need to think about my calendar. I already have 72 days raced and still a lot more to ride. At least now it only will be one day classics. |

yeah, maybe thinning out the calendar in terms of non-cobbled stage races may help the race fitness in the classics at the end of the season - worth a try for uprising Jonas probably

Yes. I can say now that next year will include only 28 races. This year it was 44 in the preview. A lot more. I'm still looking for a good calendar but it seems I found a few "steps" of creating a good one.

Who knows?
We open the series of classics, in Netherlands! Top 50 for today seems to be easy goal. Flat classic, but with the chances that breakaway will win this.
Results:
1 | Sjors Roosen | Team Differdange - Losch | 4h21'28 | 2 | Luuk Lohuis | SEG Racing Academy | s.t. | 3 | Daan Soete | Cibel - Cebon | s.t. | 4 | Robbie Van Bakel | Roompot - Nederlandse Loterij | s.t. | 5 | Nicolai Tanovitchii | Monkey Town Continental Team | s.t. | 6 | Stephan Bakker | Vacansoleil | s.t. | 7 | Gary Parret | JBL | + 40 | 8 | Kenneth Vanbilsen | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 9 | Boris Vallée | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 10 | Juraj Sagan | Dura | s.t. | 11 | Sven Erik Bystrom | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 12 | Edward Theuns | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 13 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 14 | Taylor Phinney | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 15 | Jonas Castrique | JBL | s.t. |
Do I said something about the breakaway? Hmm...
Now hilly classic in Belgium. Some cobbles are there too! My goal? Finish in the top 3! Oh lord... I'm very tired of the season so it might not end well.
Results:
1 | Jasper Stuyven | Quick-Step Floors | 4h59'40 | 2 | Guillaume Van Keirsbulck | Lotto - Soudal | + 16 | 3 | Frederik Backaert | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 4 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | + 36 | 5 | Boris Vallée | Lotto - Soudal | + 1'25 | 6 | Maxime Farazijn | Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise | + 2'00 | 7 | Jelle Wallays | Lotto - Soudal | + 2'14 | 8 | Lars Boom | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 9 | Alphonse Langendries | Lotto - Soudal | + 2'30 | 10 | Michael Jacob | Aeromobil | s.t. | 11 | Franklin Six | Aeromobil | + 2'59 | 12 | Tony Martin | Team Sunweb | + 3'10 | 13 | Laurens Huys | Aeromobil | + 3'25 | 14 | Jan-Willem Van Schip | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 15 | Tom Van Asbroeck | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. |
Race was very selective. With 50 kms left main group of favourites had only 28 riders in it. With 21 kms left there were only 24 riders in the main group. With 7 kms left: Only 9 riders in my group. So... I was doing my best, but as I said, I'm very tired of the season. Still, 4th place is pretty nice! |

We are staying in Belgium for another classics. This time flat one, but with very hard short cobbled climb. We will take that climb 4(!) times!
Results:
1 | Jelle Schuermans | Omega Pharma | 4h29'53 | 2 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 3 | Gürkan Gobet | JBL | + 29 | 4 | Maurits Lammertink | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 5 | Niki Terpstra | JBL | s.t. | 6 | Amaury Capiot | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 7 | Tony Martin | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 8 | Jan-Willem Van Schip | Team Sunweb | s.t. | 9 | Ethan Hayter | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 10 | Magnus Bak Klaris | Dura | s.t. |
My tiredness is really making me pay now for all my effort this season... But! I decided to attack on last cobbled climb. I catch up the breakaway with Van Emden from Philips still at the front and I almost won it! Maybe I'm not that tired .
Again I'm one of the favourites for this race. Hills, cobbles, everything is here! Top 3 (objective) will be hard, but I'll do my best.
Results:
1 | Guillaume Van Keirsbulck | Lotto - Soudal | 4h52'01 | 2 | Dimitri Claeys | Lotto - Soudal | + 58 | 3 | Frederik Backaert | Team Sunweb | + 1'06 | 4 | Stijn Demolder | Certipost | + 1'16 | 5 | Lennard Kämna | Quick-Step Floors | + 1'26 | 6 | Thijs Vergeylen | Aeromobil | s.t. | 7 | Patrick Müller | JBL | + 1'53 | 8 | Ethan Hayter | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 9 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. | 10 | Nils Politt | Team Sunweb | + 2'17 |
No more energy for better result.
I'm now lvl 19 also! I'll show my progress and stats by this now.
Only 7 levels of my progress to go.
Next update probably on Tuesday due to my little trip. |

World Tour classic in France! Considered as flat with many short and steep climbs in it.
Results:
1 | Niccolo Bonifazio | Team Katusha - Alpecin | 5h37'24 | 2 | Gürkan Gobet | JBL | s.t. | 3 | Nacer Bouhanni | Orica - Scott | s.t. | 4 | Danny Van Poppel | JBL | s.t. | 5 | Marco Haller | Bora - Hansgrohe | s.t. | 6 | Ethan Hayter | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 7 | Mads Pedersen | JBL | s.t. | 8 | Jonas Castrique | JBL | s.t. | 9 | Davide Cimolai | TEAM Gaerne | s.t. | 10 | Caleb Ewan | Team Sky | s.t. | ... | ... | ... | ... | 35 | Jonas Duurhuus | TEAM Philips | s.t. |
I went for the breakaway. No chances for good result at the end so that's why I went for it early on.
Last classic in Belgium before the Canadian campaign in Quebec and Montreal.

I went for the breakaway. That's all! We were caught very close to the finish. That's why somehow I had that result. |

I decided to not take part in some classics after those races because of my fitness and tiredness. Only Wallonie, break and at the end - Japan Cup! Sorry guys. |
