This time it was also really close.

Now two classics. One just before July. Then about 4 weeks of break before another start. Both in Belgium.

"Flat as a table" classic with many sprinters from my team. Holding Halvorsen wheel was good idea, but I'm to weak to do it properly.

Now some cobbles! Flat, but "not as a table" Wink. I decided to "attack" on last cobbled section. It worked pretty nice as I got away with 3 other riders. At the end...

I'm very happy with that 3rd place. Attack on last section was a good idea. I had to work as others decided to not. It costed me a lot of energy, but with mass sprint I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be third.

Well tried! And a classic podium surely is not the worst of possible result for a youngster like Jonas!

I'll try some breakaways in this race. If I want to start in Roubaix next year (and I would like to) I need to do top 5 on some stage. I think it's easiest now via breakaway.

Stage 1: Breakaway - 6 riders - +3'35" max... Wait, what?

But apparently, this might be an end of this season for me. Awesome stage win, great top-10s, amazing points classification win... and fractured kneecap. First serious injury in my career. I was planning to start in BinckBank Tour as my fitness was great and I was feeling very well, but that injury... Ah! It's cycling! At this moment my return is predicted in mid September. More than a month without racing. Wish me all the best!

I think I would like to race more than rest because of the injury. Especially in BinckBank Tour because I was feeling very well Wink

OFF TOP - I want to ask one thing... You know that I'm playing much more than this story shows. Now I'm in the season 5, but... You think I should play further or trying to lvl up again as after one lvl I've got only +1 in two(!) secondary stats?

You wouldn't believe. It's over... This season is over. I couldn't back to training until mid October... Yet still I decided to ride last race of any season:

i67.tinypic.com/15qdhg5.jpg

This race was just for fun. Just for any serious training. Especially that manager's satisfaction is now at 66%, while after Tour de Pologne it was at 100%. So I needed that race. Apparently my fitness was at about 93%. So it wasn't bad. I was in a breakaway.

Summary 2019

My results:
Spoiler
i67.tinypic.com/2z59iq8.jpg

It was quite good season. At the start not so much. Only noticable results are from Le Samyn, Gent-Wevelgem and Brabantse Pijl. Not counting some top-10s. Second half was surprisingly good. Many decent top-10s and amazing start in Poland. Stage win and points classification. Quite impressive. Pretty sad that after that I had my first serious injury. I came back only for last race of season, Japan Cup. And I was thinking about BinckBank Tour and many other races... But, it's part of cycling. We have to move on.

This is if you are to lazy to see that screen above. Number of top-10s in every season so far by me:

Season review:

Star of the year:

i66.tinypic.com/zlc7r7.jpg

I have to say that playing a rider with northern classics specialisation isn't that easy. You aren't collecting many points. Yes, I played that career really bad at the start which means now that I'm about 2 or even 3 levels below my expectations while playing other Be a Pro. At least I'm almost on top with cobble stat. My progress:

A lot one day races. That's the main point. There are some World Tour races, but not many. Mostly cobble classics, but there are few stage races. I hope for a brilliant time at Pologne and BinckBank. Those are my main goals for second half of the season as my first - and most important - goal is Paris - Roubaix. My last objective is Wallonie.
You might ask: Why are you not starting in any Grand Tour? First of all, I can't start in Tour de France. Secondly, I'm to weak to start in those as my recovery is only at 62. Maybe next year, or in two years I'll decide to start in Giro or Vuelta. Or if I will be capable of it - in France.

See you at Santos Tour Down Under!

Good start of the season in Australia. Few breakaways and two of them were successful. I was a part of both of them. First one ended with my first victory this season. I was a GC leader for 2 days, until 5th stage. I tried my best there, but finish was to hard for me. Then I tried breakaway on very short last stage. Usually there is a big chance of success on those. And this time this happened again. I was last from the breakaway, and unlucky, no time difference... It was fun race. A stage win is always great, 4th in PC, GC leader for 2 stages. Nice!

Another fun race! Breakaway on stage 2 and my second victory this season. I need to do more attacks early on, because many of them are successful. Other stages were not that great for me, but! Stage win is a win Wink.

I believe I can keep it up Pfft

Now a long shot of one day races. Next stage race is in Yorkshire... In May.

Flat classic in Spain. I believe it's my first start here in this country. I was working at the head of the group, so I decided to save my energy for mass sprint for highest place possible. I was blocked at the final sprint by Swift, but that couldn't change my place much. I think If I wouldn't be blocked, I could end this on 8th place. I think.

First World Tour classic this year I'm taking part in. I need to slowly build my fitness for Paris-Roubaix. A lot of great riders much better than me. I'll do my best!

50 kms to go - I'm still in a first group.
35 kms to go - Still in a first group. Around 50 riders there.
20 kms to go - First group - 25 riders. Not much energy left.
10 kms to go - 26 riders in the main group of favourites. I'm still there!
A lot of attacks in a last kms.... Degenkolb, Sagan, Stuyven, Benoot. All have tried to escape. At the end they all escaped with van Baarle.

Result via photo, some problem with exported result:

I had to finish inside top 30 or do a breakaway. I went for a top 30 and that was good choice. 10th place is really good, but in future I'll aim for a victory!
