Seven riders have managed to escape the clutches of the peleton, they are Jones/IG Sigma Sport, McGowan/MG Maxifuel, Gallagher/Polygon Sweetnice, Romero/Colombia, Oroz/Euskaltel, Arashiro/Team Europcar and Montanari/Node4 Giordana
There lead over the peleton is 4m 43s
The World Tour teams that are in the race have decided to show some willing and are sharing the chasing duties
The break continues to push on despite the race organisers announcing that the lead has been reduced by a minute
De Clercq/Lotto Belisol is laying down a fast pace now hence the long line
Its finally over for the breakaway as the peleton makes contact
Everybody is battling for the best positions as they enter the final five kilometres
O'Grady has gone solo and has 20s lead as he goes under the flame rouge
And he descends the final section to get the victory

Howes has made it across to the five leaders but the now organised peleton is only 39s behind
The brave effort from the breakaway finally came to an end and almost immediately Salas/Team Optum attacked followed closely by Wegmann/Garmin Sharp and Rodriguez/Team Novo Nordisk
Salas is all alone as we go inside the final kilometre
And he celebrates one of the greatest victories of his career

Rodriguez is beginning to hurt his fellow escapees with his increased pace

Its been a brave effort but once again the peleton time there catch to perfection
Rodriguez forces out his last bit of energy but it may all be in vain
But Bauer/Team Novo Nordisk has launched himself out of the pack as he tries to grab a few seconds to improve his GC position
