Exactly their thought. That's why they're closing it down Wink

Quick Step are like Cannondale - quite passive.

I don't think QSF's transfer policy is stellar. They've lost:

Kittel to Katusha
Dan Martin to UAE
De La Cruz to Sky
Trentin to Orica
Brambilla to Trek

Their only big name they've signed is Viviani, but it's not enough to compensate the loss of 5 big names. Yes, they still have Jungels (but he's no GT CG rider by a long shot), Alaphilippe (same as Jungelsm but has potential), Enric Mas (he's not ready yet + he may go to Trek in 2019) and Gilbert (but he's not getting any younger).

They have only one bright rider at the moment - Fernando Gaviria. But IMO that's not enough. And also all the talks about new general sponsor that could fill the void left by Etixx have yet to come to fruition. I guess that Patrick Lefévère convinced Quick Step to fund the team for one more year until they find a suitable sponsor. If they don't find one - IMO it's Game Over

Quick Step seemed to have changed their approach this transfer season. While they had to replace Kittel with Viviani, they're kind of focusing on future prospects, which is ironic since the team was in danger of folding for 2018. Narvaez, Knox, Jakobsen, Senechal (maybe the most matured rider of them all)... which is a strange transfer policy given they have lost their main GT rider and lack sponsors. Brambilla had a shit season, but he's proven to be a decent rider that can score wins, nevertheless. None of the above reffered seem to deliver that in their first pro-season. Again, excluding Senechal, but I don't think he's going to raise his hands that much too.

So is Alaphilippe, if he focuses on the Ardennes as he should be. Don't forget he missed them this year due to injury.

Viviani has the kick to win Giro stage(s) and hopefully Sénéchal can finally live up to his potential and Morkov can replace Bauer/Vermote who are big losses (the latter two in general, Boonen especially on the cobbles). No doubt they're not going to win as much as they did the last years and that the team's been weakend, but in the end the team hasn't become worthless either.

correct theyr are focusing for future. Alaphilippe, Gaviria are young ..Knox, Jakobsen in.
They have Jungels, Lampaert, Stybar, Serry,
Viviani as Giro bonus.
Not bad ..and potential for fun at 2018 classics and sprint stages.
They did saved ton's of money with selling Kittel, Trentin, Dan Martin, De La Cruz (they should have sell him after Vuelta) ,Boonen retired.

Brambilla had great year. He was stunning at Giro

That was last year, this one has been mediocre. Could be one of those riders that thrive better in Italy itself (like Ulissi).
