Transfers pt.1 | The Old Gold

Over all I am very happy with landing both Tyler and Nic, both come from our focus areas and both will help us with their experience.

Tyler Farrar
Wage: 55,000
Spoiler

The American is a proven sprinter that will either act as our main sprinter this season or act as a leadout for a potentially stronger sprinter. It's unlikely that we will try to land riders for an actual train, hence the Washington native will most likely be racing as a second thought, throughout the year.

Nic Hamilton

Wage: 50,000

Spoiler

The 31 year old Canadian is going to prove a very useful option for both the cobbles and the hilly races, where he might be able to score a few points, but mainly will act as a great domestique for this level of racing. Furthermore he will add a lot of experience just like Farrar will and hopefully he will play a role in us gunning for promotion.

Farrar is a bargain, despite his age. Grats!

Yeah I beyond pleased, I actually thought he was way worse before looking him up in db today to get the screenshot of his stats. He might even play a role in the easier cobbles races or at least do some domestique work for a cobbles captain!

Booker
Echo Vien's point re: Farrar, stellar signing for that wage.

Interested to see the build you go for on your squad, as you mention the lack of emphasis on sprinting. Hopefully you're getting the riders you're looking for, and I'm glad we haven't been caught up in a bidding war, yet Wink

Yeah its fantastic to get such a strong sprinter for that little. There will be more news tonight regarding the way the team is going to be built up, just need to close a few deals!

Transfers pt.2 | Goldrush

It's time to announce our two main leaders for the upcoming season.
They are sadly not from our focus areas but we will have a bunch of strong domestiques from those coming up in some later announcements!

Guillaume Van Keirsbulck
Wage: 230,000

keyassets.timeincuk.net/inspirewp/live/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/03/guillaume-van-keirsbulck-630x420.png

The Belgian Cobbles fanatic will be the team's main leader this season in everything that has the slightest touch of cobbles. GVK is one of the best if not the best cobbles rider in the CT this season and we are trying setup the best team possible around him. If we are going to be in the promotion contention this season it is going to be on the back of this beast.

Simon Pellaud
Wage: 120,000

Spoiler

The Swiss Puncheur will be our main captain for the hills this season, hopefully he can step up and prove that his wage is worth it, however with the increase in incredibly talented puncheurs in the CT this season he might not be the most successful this season, but we have our high hopes and will try to honor our goals.

Transfers pt.3 | Sharing the Gold

It's time to announce how we spent our transferbudget this season.
Who did we acquire from other teams, read further down and find out!

Ryan Anderson
Fee: 50,000
Wage: 50,000

www.procyclingstats.com/riders/2012/thumbs/Ryan-Anderson-2012.jpg

The Canadian was one of the first names to be put on the confirmed list. Coming from our Canadian friends over at RBC Pro Cycling. He will act as one of Simon Pellaud's main helpers in the hilly races and potentially going to score well on his own accord when given the chance. I am very happy with the signing and the 30-year old should be one of the teams strongest forces this season.

Cedric Lebris
Fee:50,000
Wage:50,000

A pretty good deal in my opinion, getting the Frenchie in from the strong Polish Fablok side, he will be the main cobbles support to GVK in the classics this season. Chances are he will go on and chase some breaks at some point too, and should be able to score himself!

Gatis Smukulis
Fee: 250,000
Wage: 50,000

cdn.media.cyclingnews.com/2012/05/05/2/bettiniphoto_0109306_1_full_600.jpg

Joining us from Evonnik-Elko, the Latvian will act as a useful domestique throught every imaginable terrain that isnt the mountains! In the hills he can do some initial work, he can be a decent helper for Farrar on the flats and can protect GvK in the cobbles races before they hit the cobbles. The fee might be a bit excessive but we are very pleased with what we got.

Michal Golas
Fee: 60,000
Wage:60,000

naszosie.pl/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Golas-action_other.jpg

The Polish Roleur will be a usefull domestique on the flats while playing a role in Farrar's very lmited train. Even though he is in his latter years of his career and are pushing declines we are very pleased with getting him in on a deal from Aker-MOT.

Transfers pt.4 | The guys to setup the finished product

Alright peeps its lieutenant-time, we are going to start out with the guys that Pellaud will have reign over for this season. You have already met Ryan Anderson so lets take a look at two of our bigger FA's for the hills

Alexander Rybakov
Wage: 65,000

www.procyclingstats.com/riders/2014/thumbs/Alexander-Rybakov-2014.png

The Russian puncheur will be Pellaud's main lieutenant in the hills. The Russian was cut from Tinkoff's roster going into the 2017 season, but we are more than happy to land this very talented rider for hilly races and we believe he will be a great help for Simon but he is a rider that will hopefully score well in weaker hills races that might no be worth Simon's time.

i.gyazo.com/943a09c9cf7bd92d39f6b4f8e19ec787.png

Phillip Gaimon
Wage: 95,000

www.procyclingstats.com/uploads/uploads00007/thumbs/Phillip_Gaimon_2016.jpg

We possibly slightly overpaid for this American rider, but coming from one of our focus areas it was very important to sign yet another rider that can be prolific in races and please our sponsors at the same time. Finding himself without a contract for 2017 after not being able to get a new one with KAYAK, due to them disbanding, we were happy to give him a shot a year in the CT where he can either helps us promote or find his feet and get back up to a higher level.

The teams looking full of potential stage winners/ strong riders so far WJ looking forward to seeing how the team performs race on race especially Anderson for selfish reasons

Shonak
Some nice transfers you've got there. Cobbles is always a sound strategy for the CT, since it gives you a rather certain amount of points, especially with a guy like Van Keirsbulck. Not sure about his support tho, I have learned the good way that support on the pavè is literally half the rent in the lower divisions.

@jt1109: Yeah I am also looking forward to seeing how Anderson does, could be one of the best signings this year actually. And thanks for the praise.

@Shonak: Yeah my support team for GvK is not the strongest atm, with only Lebris as a decent rider and then Nic Hamilton and Farrar as the other riders with more than 70 cobbles. Hopefully a rider like Golas might be able to help a bit early on in the classics. Still looking to potentially get another helper in if I get another one of my riders loaned out to PT(McCutcheon). Thanks for the praise as well. Pretty pleased with my window atm to be honest, even if its lacking in GC and TT guys but that is an area I decided to actively steer clear off.

knockout
Avoiding mountains and TTs isn'ta bad idea because the quality of leaders in the mountains is high and you need to pay a lot for a proper leader on that terrain while e.g. cobble leaders are much cheaper Wink
