Viviani won. Maybe the strongest sprinter of the end of the year.

Nice to see Viviani actually beating some of the best sprinters in the peleton Smile

Surprised no one has mentioned the Pro Otztaler 5500, a legit mountain one day classic with the mighty Timmelsjoch. Kreuziger won the race that has the potential to be Strade Bianche-esque and quickly rise in importance so bigger riders will target the race.

Great race, hope we will se more of those, maybe 3-4 in succession as an alternative to the Vuelta.

Also Bernal absolutely annihilated everyone in Avenir. As I said one in a generation
Indeed. The great Monte Giovo-Timmelsjoch combo and Kühtai as the first climb of the day. Can be a great classsic like Strade Bianche in a few years.

Wait for it.
He has been relegated for excess movement, I reckon Viviani still had enough room

Viviani is cry baby anyways, what an absolute p***y he is. But, to be fair, Eddy's sprint was crazy, crossing the road completly. I can see Viviani is listed as the winner, but i cant find an article to prove it to be true??

@hillis91 → I have this article in french : https://www.lequi...eur/831578

Viviani's reclamation is accepted. He wins the stage and is the new leader of the race.

Stage 1

Stage 2

I actually can understand why he got relegated. From middle of the road to blocking Viviani next to barricade, then again to the middle of the road. Of course, almost everyone was moving like that, but Hagen's move was at least not safe. And they were following the rules Wink.

It was perhaps not intentional, but he still switched side and blocked Viviani's sprint.

Hard to see from the front, needs air footage really.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

You just explained a mass sprint finish in EVERY WT race. They call them gladiators for a reason. We need more consistency when it comes to the rules. One day it's ok, next day it's not.

Definitely not in every WT race. Yes, sometimes riders are switching sides. But not like Hagen did today (middle -> almost pushing Viviani to barriers -> going back to middle of the road). Especially that Hagen was already at the front. I could understand switching like that if it would be done like Groenewegen did (he was going after Hagen).

for me the relegation is okay

Phinney thrown out of the race after crossing a closed railroad while chasing the peloton. It's wrong of course, but it makes me wonder, what if he did wait? Would they make the peloton and front group wait to make up his time loss? There doesn't seem to be a good solution here.

Two FdJ riders have also been kicked out for holding onto the team car up the climbs yesterday.

AG2R. Geniez and Denz

There's video. It's very blatant.

Seems though that they got withdrawn by the own team instead, not by the Vuelta commissioners.
