I rather use auto when i send a rider to breakaway. That way he relays, attack KoM's and sprints like AI does. Then i always give 'auto' command to a rider in the peloton so if i forget about bottles he could go and get for the team. I use auto commands so my work is easier!

When I play I like to use all of the team members but that is just me.

So only the captain/most representative man/man to win the race under your manual control? |

Depends on the stage.. If it's a mountain stage in a stage race I'll let the sprinter & his domestiques go on auto, and control the leader and his helpers. If it's flat i'll let the leader and non leadout/sprinters go on auto, and control the lead out and the sprinter. If it's a one-day race I'll usually control every rider.
I'll have the leader whose energy I want to conserve on dot for most of the race, being protected, and pay attention to him for the whole stage. It works best for me because on the flat, leaders can be on dot at like 15-20 effort and still stick near the front, which is far less effort than 'maintain position' which actually saps quite a lot of energy. With dot I can also control exactly where in the peloton the rider sits. It definitely takes a lot of effort and time though as you can't really x8 at all.
There's no right or wrong way to do it though, it's just personal preference. |

Personally i feel better when i control only my captain using mantain position on top of the peloton and using the dot on climbs to remain in firsts positions using as less energy as possibile |

Well, usually I can pause the game or play in 1x speed which makes it easier. At the end of a race I pause more often. Usually I have everyone ride in a pack in the front-middle of the main group and sometimes I will take a rider to the break and switch back and forth during the race. I'm not much to speed up races so I usually play at normal speed.
