Stage 3 will see the riders end their venture in Belgium and finally reach France. A very hilly parcours is presented which can lead to opportunistic riding, but being the Tour it should be decided in a final sprint. Favourites include World Champion Peter Sagan, Michael Matthews, Greg van Avermaet and possibly even Dan Martin. Sad mention for Valverde who would have also liked this sort of stage.
Depending on the way its raced (fast or slow) the common denominator of the fast men will be Peter Sagan who enjoys these sort of inclines being able to drop the quicker men. The finale is a 2km climb at around 6% which isn't too dissimilar to the Mur-de Bretagne or the stage to Cherbourg from recent Tour finishes like this possibly owing itself to attacking riders much like Vuillermoz's effort in 2015 or the Sagan-type rider.
Will be interesting to see if the of the GC men get caught out, but I highly doubt it especially with Le Planche Des Belles Filles rapidly approaching. |

I think it's too easy for Phil.
1. Sagan
2. Trentin
3. Colbrelli |

Imo too easy for likes of Gilbert or D.Martin today, i expect usual suspects Sagan vs. GVA vs. Matthews for the win, with Colbrelli or Trentin as sidekicks. Or maybe Demare in great form can handle that climb? 1,6kms with 5,8% average is nothing brutal, ofc it depends how the stage is ridden prior to that, as Gilbert can attack earlier.

Philbear sounded very motivated in the pre-race interview on ES. An attack prior to the climb is possible given his style of racing.

I missed Spa. ;(
But still, the white jersey of Sky is weird. How did they get that allowed?

Nils Politt is an awesome rider.
And he has a great uphill punch for a 1.92m/80kg guy imo.
